Found buttons here: http://usbbuttons.com/category/buttons/

Linking from that site is an application called SparkBooth, that is quite close to the original request/idea :)

Well, a small touch-screen and the use of WinButtons (optionally combined with WinSendKeys) could be a way to go. It offers already quite good application-launching capabilities.

The use of a touch-screen (what it seems to be used for in several real-life situations) is discussed in the same thread, starting here, and during the process of building and testing, nudone donated me a USB-connected touch-screen (for testing-purposes ;)), that could be mounted at the booth for the user to 'press' your buttons on. The $199 price-tag may be somewhat of a blocker though.

This isn't limited to *nix TE's I presume?

And to add a tool that's been mentioned here before (and I've had it installed for eons, but hardly ever actually, actively, use) Manic Time
IMHO it has the features you ask for, though I've not investigated much.
1456
What current tool are you already using?

Find And Run Robot / Re: FARR's launch history cleared on full shutdown (win8.1)

Using /t 0 implies the /f (force) switch for shutdown, that may probably be why it doesn't send the pre-shutdown event to all active applications?

Living Room / Hitchbot, a baby-Cody descendant?
« Last post by Ath on August 02, 2014, 09:46 AM »
Last week a researchproject was started, by sending a robot on a hitch-hiking trip across Canada: http://www.hitchbot.me/
It even has instructions for anyone picking it up for a part of the journey.

Sounds a lot like the travels of DC's baby-Cody  ;D

F5 / reload worked for me.
Ah, tried that earlier and it didn't make a difference, but this time it did. Thanks!

So far I've not seen any difference in the 'last new message' icon on the "Unread Posts" list

I'm unable to find the spot in your code where you assign values to $first, $last and $theMail variables. That could IMHO explain the failure to store, as the columns have the 'not null' attribute...

The original offer is 3 years old and probably expired, better ignore stray posts like from Mark2White, smells like seo

General Software Discussion / Re: independent advanced search for the web
« Last post by Ath on July 23, 2014, 07:41 AM »
Please stop opening new threads with exactly the same request. (IIRC this is the 3rd within a week about 'advanced search') This is very counter-productive (read: de-motivating), even for anyone that is trying to help you, and you won't get answers even in the rare case you have a relevant/interesting request. >:(

Living Room / Re: Weird Router Issue Hoping someone has seen before
« Last post by Ath on July 19, 2014, 05:32 AM »
I've seen similar, intermittent, connection issues when I bought a new Linksys (ea6700) AC router. It was cured after I replaced it with a Netgear aparatus, as the ea6700 was originally bought with the intention to fix connection-issues we had with a Linksys wrt160...
Not even bios updates have yet been able to cure the intermittent wi-fi connection issues with the ea6700 (that is still here, being used in my tech-testing network, not directly connected to the interwebs)

Steps are: [1] choose Unread Posts at the bottom of the forum frontpage, and (trying) to touch the smallish icon near [2] (not the checkbox)

The same, or at least comparable, feature would be nice for the 'all unread' list, where the icon is quite small, but I assume it's using the same icon :tellme:

@questorfla: What is the actual goal, after you've determined that value from the registry? It's not mentioned up until now, IMHO.

I could guess that you're trying to install some update, but selecting the correct update from an ms webpage would be as much risk as sending them a bunch of instructions by e-mail. And why isn't this covered by Windows Updates (or WSUS) ?

I download the dbu.exe utility, but goes well under xp 32 bit, but not in w7 64 bits. What am i doing bad ?
16 bit executables can't run on 64 bit Windows, because MS didn't that feature in Win x64.

There are, obviously, 2 types of indexing discussed in this thread: database indexes, and application independent textsearch indexes. The OP is imho meant to point at the latter, so for this request, dtsearch could be a viable solution. It supports a whole bunch of file-types, including dbf files, and can be found at http://dtsearch.com (payware, no affiliation, found using a google search)
