i'm not a fan of modern dance nor ballet BUT i think the more recent work from DV8 Physical Theater is incredible - they seem to be in a league of their own. earlier stuff is probably just for real dance fans as i found it tedious. check out this trailer for their 'Cost of Living' http://www.youtube.c.../watch?v=itDRZlc7d8U the full film has stuff i gaurantee you'll never have seen before.

funny you mention them. I did something with one of their ex-members a while ago (he's now involved in the volcano theatre). Paul Davies. It was a fun, tough and hilarious (at the same time...) experience.

I've got a pretty bad cold which is leaving me pretty debilitated.. i hope it goes away soon.

Ahah. I got one too. 5 days of intense fever. 2 weeks of intense coughing. Pretty hard core this year if you ask me.  :(
I'm just starting to recover.
Well... Drink your orange juice, plenty of water, sleep well, and go for short walks once in a while...  ;)

Thanks czechboy!  ;D
OK, I'll send you my settings tomorrow.

How do I *include* files that have duration i.e. files I have worked on & recorded the time spent:-
Projects and (File and duration>0)
- doesnt work - filters out everything

Why do you put parenthesis ? Unless the "File" field has a numeric value? Otherwise I guess I'd just remove them... or put them like that : (duration>0)

You say in the wiki page about filters
Filter
The Filter filters the list of items. It can be edited directly, but it also can be set through the Search Form or Quick Search
is there any tips around how to use the Search function to do this?

What do you mean ? I don't know if that would answer your question, but by pressing ctrl+f (or by opening the Find panel, in the view menu), you just get a window with different fillable fields. These act as filters and the results appear in the search Grid OR -- and that might be the answer to your question -- directly in one of your already made grid, if you fill "source view" field with a Grid name you choose (in a drop down menu). VERY convenient.

and, just BTW:-
Saving Filters
Currently you can't named filters, but you can use the history drop-down box to select old filters. Also, Grid's will remember their filter so you can create a multiple Grids - each with its own Filter.
I dont have any drop down box here on the filters?
but if I remove filter text and then click on icon to deactivate filter the text returns (which is fine)

That's a good one and I wanted to mention it to Pierre too as I don't see that drop down menu (which would be VERY convenient, as I have to save my filters manually to remember them right now). There is a drop down menu but for the "source" (which basically lists all available fields, and not previous complex sources/filters either).

Amando, you mentioned error #91 somewhere
did you get any info on it?

I was changing the colours for a grid in options and you have to restart for them to take effect (sometimes anyways) and now it wont start,
well, it starts up but then I get

---------------------------
SQLNotes
---------------------------
Run-time error '91':

Object variable or With block variable not set
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

and it crashes...
Tom

One Error 91 got fixed : http://mantis.sqlnot...s.net/view.php?id=56. (Error 91 is not necessarily linked to a very specific thing -- ie clicking on a specific field -- and it can happen in different contexts).

Is SQLNotes not starting, or is it only that specific grid ?

I'm asking because I had a pretty huge crash yesterday, accompanied by the infamous "run time error 91 (Object variable or with block variable not set)" ... and I got nervous because SQLNOtes couldn't NOT load my database anymore:'(  But I solved the problem by:
1) uninstalling SQLNotes,
2) reinstalling the older 0.9.21 version (don't know if just reinstalling the new version would've done it... sorry),
3) opening my database (but made a copy before!!!!) with the old version (it worked, but a couple filters didn't -- I didn't really care since I was planing to reinstall the new 0.9.22 version right after!),
4) re-saving it under another name,
5) and then reinstalling the new SQLNotes version, and opening up my database... effortlessly this time! fiouf.

(I'll post the details of the error on the SQLNotes forum when I'll be able to create a new thread! From now on I'm going to try to post about SQLNotes matters over there instead... just because I find that info on SQLNotes is starting to get a bit scattered between here, Mantis and SQLNotes Forum. Unless Pierre prefers to keep both places active... dunno.)

I get this error 91 at least once a day. It usually happens when I drag and drop something or click on something... at the wrong time it seems! But I must say that it doesn't prevent me to literaly love SQLNOtes anyway. This software is REALLY addictive.  :-[

it doesn't work here either. I followed the instructions. I typed "gd 10 friend," and nothing happens. It just writes "google Dictionary" in the Status Bar.

I must say that the Google translate doesn't work either. It never worked... Snif. :(

The problem is creating a new thread in any forum section. Not a new post in a preexisting thread.

This is what I get :

Could it be a problem on my side ???

Hummm... I think Pierre is busy changing stuff over there because I haven't been able to start a new thread since last night.

Pierre?  :) (I'd like to discuss things about categories, etc. I posted in Mantis about this and I found a temporary pretty neat and simple solution that works very well -- still not ideal but, who knows, probably similar to what you're already using)

I see. Nice tomos. I'll share what I do in a little while. I'm just busy figuring out everything SQLNotes can do and what it could do better -- when possible.

I'm actually thorned between posting here or at the SQLNotes forum... Posting at the SN forum seems like a better idea (since that's where people tend to go for info about SQLNotes), and that's what I've started to do lately,  but it just hasn't become a habit yet.  :)

Oh... And BTW, Pierre, I like the new notification on ctrl+E (delete). Most of my grids are too complex to use the "remove from this grid only", but I'm sure it will be MUCH safer for users not willing to use complex filters/sources.

After that, my transition to SQLNotes will pretty much be finalized.

Lucky you... I wish I could do the same (will probably to have to wait quite a bit...). SQLNotes is so much more "me" than, let's say... Outlook.

Downloaded it, installed it : wonderful.
I tried to create a new thread at http://www.sqlnotes....abid/54/Default.aspx ,  but it doesn't seem to be possible at the moment.

There's one thing I wanted to ask about... The "export to webpage" : is it broken or am I missing something? I tried to export several grids, but nothing happens. It used to work before 0.9.22 and the last build.

Clever solutions you found there... Isn't it great tomos? I hope more and more people will start to dig into SQLNotes (hint hint), and help with the development (with suggestions and bug reports) as it is a VERY exciting project. Yes, it might take some time to get used to it (it is a bit geeky, in some respect  :) ), but, apart from all the subtleties, its organizing principles and UI are in fact simple. Those with a bit of computer knowledge shouldn't have any problems with it.

Nice Tomos. I was able to reproduce this just now. Here's how :

1- click in the "Note" field in the property panel (you have to first click in it, it's important, and the field needs to be EMPTY)
2- Click on any  item (any number, it doesn't matter, and any field/column in the grid I believe).
3- Reclick in the empty "Note" field in the property panel...

I then get the error (each and everytime I repeat these steps). It seems tobe only doing it with the note field in the property pane...

(Hierarchy is enabled.)

Do you want to put it in Mantis, Tomos ? Or should I ?

Pierre, I can't find infos on that one, but it might have been covered elsewhere though...

If I copy (or duplicate) an item from one grid to another, SQLNotes will gracefully add an extra value to one (or more, I guess...) field so that the item meets the other (new) grid's criteria. Right.

There are 2 cases of item duplication :

1- The item is already a child (or subitem), and, from my understanding, its parent(s) will also be shown in the new Grid  even if they don't satisfy the criteria (whether I want it or not) BUT in blue ,

2- The item is a parent, and all its children will also be shown in the grid even if they don't meet the grid's criteria... like the previous case, except that they will just show normally --> no special color (no blue...). Why?

If that hasn't been covered, I could add these suggestion via mantis... that there is an option to :

1- Be able to show the children not meeting the grids' criteria in blue (if that's the chosen convention)

2- Be able to show ONLY the items meeting the grid's criteria (whether these are children or parents of an item meeting the grid's criteria), and making all the others invisible... And also to be able to selectively decide to show/not show parents and/or children, depending on the grid. Why not?

Is that clearly expressed ?  :-[

Going to bed now...

1- Item copy / paste used to work, but doesn't anymore. Needs fixing

I see.

2- What item should be in Todo? Also, drag-dropping across grids is one way to assign an item to more than 1 parent. (BTW Drag-drop does needs improvements)

As the screenshot shows, there are 2 items in the todo grid : "tâche d'essai"; "Flow, synthèse".
Both are there. But the count on the tab says "1 items". That's where I see a problem.

1- I'm pretty sure this has been answered before... but can't remember where. How do you duplicate/copy an item BUT have 2 DIFFERENT indepedent items (while identical... or almost : the IDitem number would of course be different :) )

Ie : I want to create a task out of a project and use the project item as a template. I tried copying and pasting, but it doesn't seem to work.

2- BTW, I "copied" one item from one grid to another. But one grid seems to ignore its presence and doesn't count it (there are 2 items, and it says 1).

Todo = 1 item, but there are 2. (even after refreshing)
Screenshot - 2008-02-13 , 22_08_29.jpg

"Flow, synthèse" has 2 parents because it's been duplicated
Screenshot - 2008-02-13 , 22_09_12.jpg

Is that normal ?

(I also encountered an error by drag & droping from one grid to another... Can't reproduce it though... will keep checking for a serious mantis report...)

I humbly suggest to everyone who want to report SQLNotes bugs, or suggest features, etc. to use Mantis : http://mantis.sqlnot...s.net/login_page.php.

It's easy to register, use and it's damn efficient... and I'm sure Pierre will appreciate it!  ;)

For usability questions, of course, it's different...  :)

BTW : pierre : thanks for fixing the error 91 bug so fast!
