AI think they need to eat their own dog food and put their own website through their software and I am sure that it will suggest that a sale that goes on day after day really isn't a sale.-tinjaw (February 23, 2009, 02:40 PM)

I miss those old sets - I hate being forced to use a remote control, for example. My newer (ie four year old) tv is pretty much useless without the remote - can't watch dvd's without it, for example, because there is no switch on the set to get to Video One. Talk about dumbing things down...Due to the quoting I'm not really sure if I'm understaing this correctly, but...
TRK IS a Live Linux CD (heavy customized for those specific kind of works), so yes, surely.-Mark0 (February 21, 2009, 08:59 AM)

IMHO, the best ways to get out of a tricky virus are either:
- Remove the HD, put in an external box and scan from some other PC (could be impractical)
- Boot from a different OS, and so scan the whole system from a surely virus free environment
You can do the latter, for example, with the easy Trinity Rescue Kit.

Hmm... my note about the authorship of "Screen. Mind. Both are blank" got cut off - I had written that I wonder what became of Ian Hughes, ten years on? Perhaps he's even a member here?!He's here. He's lurking. He's me.-Darwin (February 29, 2008, 12:50 PM)-ian807 (February 20, 2009, 02:58 PM)
Welcome to DC and let me just say that I still get a kick out of your haiku 18 months after first having encountered it. Thanks, too, for the link describing what an SDET does (I'd have been googling for it otherwise).

Anybody who doesn't realize that marketing always trumps technology in the technology business is either very young, not paying attention, or has severe memory problems.BTW: I'm not all that young; I have been paying attention; and my memory is just fine!-Jimdoria (February 19, 2009, 06:00 PM)

It's not a P-7811FX, mind you, but I still love it! It's a more humble M-6783h - Vista Ultimate 64 (upgraded from 32 bit Home Premium), T5750, 4GB 667Mhz DDR2 RAM and an ATi Radeon 2600 Graphics card with 512MB dedicated DDR3 memory. The RAM has been upgraded (from 3GB), as has the harddrive (250GB 5400 rpm to 320GB 7200rpm). As I've noted elsewhere, I'm "jonesing" for a CPU upgrade, but am pretty sure that all I'd really gain would be bragging rights and a lighter wallet! As it stands, the jump to 7200 rpm realized the biggest performance "boost".
Possibly the following?
