Have you heard horror stories specifically about the Deck?

https://www.reddit.c..._bricking_the_steam/

And thanks for that note about the dock. My TVs aren't 4k so I wouldn't be using it with 4k.

You found the secret loophole! :P

I reported it just because I don't want to see anyone exploit it and screw up the queues. I should have figured it would be an issue, because I've seen before how the carts on the client and the website are not linked, and it's screwed me before.

Strange thing happened. I completed my purchase, but it looks like I can purchase another because it's in my cart on Steam after I aborted there.

Not going any further in trying to purchase it because I don't want 2, but it is strange.

And just checking, I do see my purchase already there.

Just completed my purchase! I had to do it on the website rather than through the app for some reason- the app's complete purchase button was non-responsive.

If you weren't aware, it may be faster to check your Steam account rather than wait for the email. I've read reports of people not receiving the email for a while, but their Steam account notifies them that they can complete the purchase.

Thanks, I didn't know that! I'm trying to force myself to wait for 1EST before checking.

Which accessories?

Screen Protectors - https://smile.amazon.../product/B09X1B9FSB/
Carrying Case - https://smile.amazon.../product/B09ZYFV1GD/
Stand - https://smile.amazon.../product/B09WV5YGGQ/

I've heard horror stories about 3p docks, so just went for a stand, and I might get this Anker dock later

Does anyone have a thought about whether I should follow through and buy this stream deck if I don't care about gaming? My initial thought was that it was just such a cool piece of hardware that I might do some fun coding for it (possibly coding games), or doing some custom electronics hacking, etc.  But I haven't really given it much thought.

That was my struggle with it. I've started spending more time out of the office so I can be more available, and that's what has me leaning more towards it, even though I did just get a new laptop.

I might actually try a Godot one. I've been wanting to stop waiting for Godot, and just get on with learning and making. (Sorry... bad pun, but I wanted to make it, so there)

General Software Discussion / Re: The End of the Atom Editor

Oh, and it just occurred to me that Microsoft bought GitHub a while back, so I guess it would make sense that they'd kill Atom in favor of VS Code.

In this case, I don't think it's in favor of. Atom stopped getting updates before that deal IIRC.

I use N++ for ad hoc editing, VS Code for projects that I don't want to open VS2019 for, and for non-project stuff, like writing, note taking, and web sites and such, and VS2019 for project related stuff that compiles.

I tried it back in the day, but didn't find anything better than Sublime Text... then I started using VS Code, and it was better than both. I guess a lot of people had similar experiences.

Today GitHub announced it will archive Atom and all projects under the Atom organization for an official sunset on December 15, 2022.

Did anyone else use Atom?

I'm assuming you read the content into a string and that's what the content variable is as that's not specified.

Find returns the location of the first occurence of the string. You then have to use that to read the actual string. The -1 means it was not found.

Synchronize It! and Compare It! - superb GUI design, I still use them to this day for small simple jobs - one can still buy them, they still work, but unfortunately not upgraded for many many years. Synchronize It! can even copy sparse files, which is extremely rare.

Have they been forgotten? I thought they were still being sold? I use them all the time.

Seeing that the 512GB is $650 and the laptop I'm looking at is ~$1100 and will run the same games+ with the only difference being 256GB instead of 512GB is what's making me look at the laptop option.

So you're going to possibly purchase both the 64GB and 256GB?

I've been thinking about it still. Trying to decide between getting a new laptop and this. The laptop costs more, but would have more applications.

Ah! The Charismatic Voice channel! One of my favs. Elizabeth is an utter gem in addition to being a knowledgeable vocal coach. She just recently released her own album.

Not too hard on the eyes either.

Agreed on all counts!

Really like Home Free. The solo stuff by the bassist is good to- all of them Avi Kaplan, Tim Foust, and Geoff Castellucci
