oh dear. not good. but, at least, you get to put the virtualization process through some decent testing.

fingers crossed.

it looks like the offer has little to do with being a previous customer so i'll post the link for the discount here: https://www.cleverbr...m/80/uurl-epnvvaon37

you get a third off so it's $19.95 instead of $29.95

offer ends 28th February 2010.

(i've bought it. not used it yet.)

Just showed up in my email inbox: special offer for 30% off on this product. That brings it down to $19.99. I made the purchase. I will try to get my first impressions up ASAP.
just received this same email this morning. it says the offer is for "existing customers" which i must be simply because i've registered for their free software.

i shall test out the offer later and see if the discount works for me. if so, then it looks like it might be a good idea for people to just register with paragon - they'll then reward you with nice discounts via email newsletters.  :)

an exciting read, and great news. fingers crossed that no complications appear later - or none that will make the v2p process completely unusable.

nice find, but...

reading the pdf datasheet for the "paragon backup and restore 10 suite" it doesn't look like it will do v2p - which is the most interesting feature about the paragon virtualization manager 10. so, at the moment, it still looks like the full product needs to be paid for before we can really learn anything about it.

i'd buy it myself but i haven't the time to play around with it at the moment.

f0dder, i think you are the best man to test out the software so i'll forward you the correct amount of Cody DC credits to cover the cost of purchasing the program. all i ask in return is that you give the program a good going over and let us all know about it (which i'm sure you'd do anyway).

let me know if you agree.

tinjaw can have the DC credits too - i don't mind "donating" this software for you both to try.

very impressive. must be nice when you are that age and you know you are (most likely) the best person in the world at what you do.

i wonder if not offering a trial means there's something to worry about. i suppose a trial version would be too easy to abuse, i.e. convert a virtual machine and don't bother using the software ever again.

hmm, no free trial available to download. it's tempting to just buy it and give it a try.

i think f0dder wanted something that could convert a virtual machine into a real working system - this looks like the perfect software to do it. maybe he's tested it already.

Maxthon, because it seems better equiped than everything else - but i confess, i've probably not made enough effort to find the plugins for the other browsers to make them work the same... but why bother when Maxthon comes with most "plugin" features built in.

(plus Maxthon starts up pretty quick.)

laptops tend to have 5400 rpm drives and they seem to play HD content okay. or, at least, windows 7 plays the "HD" file that comes as an example okay on my netbook.

someone else might be able to give you a case that wasn't successful...

they've got Adobe Creative Suite 4 Master collection for a few hundred - that's the latest version and seems too cheap - i mean, a couple of thousand cheap.

maybe they are selling academic license keys even though they state that they aren't. (or it's just cracked.)

i'd say FileBox eXtender works well enough under Vista.

it remembers saved and recent folders and resizes the open/save dialog window. auto set to details view doesn't work - not what what else doesn't work.

the buttons it produces don't look too great if you are using aero.

well, i'd not thought about it but i read elsewhere (sorry, can't remember the site now), that the iPad follows the usual upgrade path...

wait for version 2 to have multi-tasking.

wait for version 3 to have usb.

wait for version,... you get the idea. which i think hits the nail on the head. apple could have released the iPad version 1 that had everything included - but why do that when you can get people to keep buying the same product over and over again. hate them.

is the iPad the premature iPril Fool joke for this year?

i hope it dies the slow agonising death it deserves, with all the owners pulling their hair out with frustration when Apple closes the apps store down for it in a years time.

it's another iCube - soon to be erased from memory by all Apple fanboys.

hmm, a small touch screen (with multi digit sensing) could be the future. i wouldn't want a touch screen as my main "viewing" screen but something near the keyboard might be nice.

i ought to search i suppose but i wonder what's already out there. there ought to be some decent apps to change your touchscreen into a very handy multi-purpose device. something that changes key/button layout depending on the main program you are using.

i've seen specialist things for video/photo editing and they were too small and restrictive to be of any interest. whereas a touchscreen would (potentially) have a million and one uses and configurations/layouts.

p.s.

I can't wait for Apple to actually try to reinvent the wheel - I'm sure there will lots of ways they can cripple that too.

the registration appears to be needed to use the built-in iso burner (the exe file that is downloaded).

but it looks like you can just extract the iso from the download (exe file) as i've just done that with winrar.
