I use Miranda. I use it for ICQ, Yahoo!, and two instances of MSN.

Innuendo: do you know how to use two instances of MSN/Hotmail at the same time?
Fyi, I use Miranda too.
Should work as it works for several IRC servers: just copy the plugin and give it a different name.
Make sure you read http://bluescreenofdeath.co.uk/Miranda/ (only one page)

Thanks for your drafts! I'd like to see something in blue, or that combines blue with another color, maybe green?

And don't just focus on the 'bullet holes' layout, feel free to add something completely different :)

i hope my avatar isn't banned in some culture/state/cult.
As long as you don't change it to a pointed hat and change your nick from lanux128 to lux128 and eventually to KKKlux128 everything is fine!

;D

Great! Only 5% of the energy a regular HD consumes means not just it's perfect for mobile computing, but also a nice alternative when you want/need to go for a quiet solution or when the heat a regular HD produces is a problem.

I also doubt that that's all possible... I just keep a copy of every installer file I downloaded and installed - easy to burn to CD/DVD and right at my fingertips if I need to install it again.

It isn't the most beautiful impression for visitors, isn't it?.
Done. That wouldn't have happened in a wiki, but you probably know that... ;)

Mini-Reviews by Members / --> PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU POST <--
« Last post by brotherS on March 21, 2006, 10:29 AM »
So you want to write a Mini-Review about something? Great!

Please make sure to add images to your post! Images allow other users to quickly grasp "what it's all about" (see example: https://www.donation...dex.php?topic=1385.0 ).

You don't always need to create your own screenshots (but of course DC's own Screenshot Captor is always there for you), often you'll find screenshots online that you could simply link here by using the img tags (click the "Insert image" button that you see above every post).

Still having questions? Feel free to ask!

Thanks :)

Exactly. Nothing is there forever. Neither ImageShack, nor DC, nor Microsoft.

1) i give you the telephone number of my chief, you can ask him if is allowed to install such extensions
When your boss doesn't allow you to install harmless extensions, he probably doesn't allow you to write forum posts while you work either :)

2) how long are the images stored on ImageShack's  bevor they drop them?
Forever?

3) it's nicer to wrote/format here then in the wiki,
Just because you are not familiar with the wiki syntax yet.

not to say how long iam on the search to find my article in the wiki again
Wikis have a search option and most often get a good navigation by the time they get filled.

4) no one must edit my text, so this forum is good enought,
I like it when others are fixing my typos in wiki articles - and vice versa.

and i didn't want to check the wiki if it altered in the mean time.
You can subscribe to wiki pages too, you'll be noticed.

5) the users how found this with google are just in the right place...on the forum!
The users who search with Google will just find the DC wiki instead :) And don't forget the wiki button above...

So i am here on the right place  ;D
Quod erat demonstrantum? ;)

the wiki is hard to upload pictures to
 Not at all! Using the ImageShack's shell extension makes it extremely easy! :-*

im really starting to think we should just close it and use the forum.. :(
Nooooooooooo! It's just the old problem: if there's not enough content, not many will visit it... so I think this CLCL stuff would have its perfect home there!

Only the wiki made it possible to make lots of PC-illiterate users try SC!

Err... wouldn't https://www.donation.../index.php/Main_Page be a much better place for all that content?

that looks quite nice, thogh i'm not sure how distracting i would find it in regular use..
I like noutters' idea! To make it less obstrusive you could just color the last 5 or 10 pixel of every row! Or what about just underlying the number in front of the program name with that color? Even better I guess!

Makes sense.

For years, those seeking specialty financial information via Google have been sent to competitors such as Yahoo and MSN. Now Google's providing financial information directly to its own users.

no offense, brotherS but tools like AbsoluteControl add too much feature for their own good that it ends up as an overkill...
No offense taken :)

It just perfectly does what I (rarely) need, it's free and easy to use - I don't care about the other features I don't use.

I don't quite understand.. Why having a script for ejecting when you can right-click the icon at my computer?
The answer is in the post above :)

jgpaiva:
what about a script that eject/retracts the cd-tray on demand? it will be useful to some of us...
I'm using AbsoluteControl for that task (I run it just when I need it, since I need it less than once a week):

This tool makes a wide range of OS control tools available with a single click. It can set your screen resolution to the highest possible refresh rate, open and close your CD drives, reboot, shutdown, power off, hibernate and send your system to standby mode.
A Web-search is available with a single click.

Get it from http://www.tucows.com/preview/231633

I thought my pc was a bit sluggish today
Another hint: don't look just at the taskbar icons, use Sysinternal's Autoruns too to find stuff that you don't want to run: http://www.sysintern...lities/Autoruns.html

Very helpful!
