If you have exhausted all the above options, then please Send me a private message with all the information you can provide.  Please feel free to also mention on this thread that you have got a report of a virus in the installer, and let people know what it is saying, and what Anti-Virus suite you are using.

DC Gamer Club / Are Ubisoft trying to kill PC gaming?
« Last post by KynloStephen66515 on October 24, 2014, 04:18 PM »
Ubisoft has since confirmed that PC owners wanting to play Assassin’s Creed Unity should have at least a GTX 680/ Radeon HD 7970 GPU and an Intel Core i5 2500K/ AMD FX-8350 CPU. a 64-bit OS is also required. Also, laptop GPUs aren’t “officially supported”. It is still recommended that you own at least a GTX 780 or an AMD R9 290X along with an Ivy-bridge Intel Core i7 3770 CPU.

Would YOU build a $2000 system just to play "Yet another Assassin's Creed" title?

Original Story:

The official Assassin’s Creed Unity PC specification requirements may have leaked and they are pretty high. Minimum CPU and GPU requirements may restrict the game to those who built a fairly high end PC sometime in the last two years. Minimum CPU requirement features Intel’s Sandy Bridge Core i5 2500K or an AMD FX-8350. The recommended CPU is an Ivy-bridge Intel Core i7 3770.
PC owners will need at least 6GB of RAM, a trend that began to surface just last year. On the GPU side of things a GTX 680 or Radeon HD 7970 are the minimum while the recommended GPUs include a GTX 780 or R9 290x. The game will also require 50GB of free hard drive space.  The overly high minimum Processor and Graphics Card requirements restrict the game to those who built fairly high end PCs sometime since 2012.

I have nothing to contribute that will help...but I must ask something...

You said "She" a couple of times as if you are referring to somebody...but make no indication as to who...care to enlighten us?  :D

I mainly ask because the start of your post makes literally no sense...it is almost as if you brought us all in half way through a conversation:

She also is not fond of spending big bucks on anything and in some cases I have to agree.

Thanks a lot from out team! It works! Just one feature request: notifications!

I assume you mean Desktop notifications?  If so, that is something I am working on adding already :P - This is a difficult one to get running however so I cannot promise...but I CAN promise to try...after all...I didn't think Cookies would be possible in this...but those are now here, so who knows!

Thanks a lot from out team! It works! Just one feature request: notifications!

Optional! And no balloons!

Perhaps use a small toaster style alert that won't activate your taskbar.

If I can get them working, I can give you lots of options on how to receive them :D

Previous bugs reported to you on IRC seem to be fixed.

Awesome!  :D

N.A.N.Y. 2015 / NANY 2015 Donation Support Idea
« Last post by KynloStephen66515 on October 22, 2014, 11:56 AM »
Hey guys,

Just a quick idea...I am hoping other people might follow in my footsteps with their NANY 2015 releases by means of offering multiple ways for people to Donate to the continued development of your Software.  What I mean by this is letting people choose to make a donation to charity instead of donating directly to YOU...or donating to DC as a whole (Making a Site Fund Donation).

I have done this myself in my SlackyApp release, and have opted to allow people to donate to the RSPCA as well as DonationCoder as a whole!

Hopefully this will spur some charitable support from people and will keep within the spirit of DonationCoder by means of not really being bothered about the aspect of money when it comes to releasing Software here :)

Hopefully somebody will follow me on this!!! (Obviously feel free to choose your own charities!)

~Stephen

Update: v0.3.0.0 (Pre-Release)

• Cookies and Sessions now store.

Please use the Update Utility via the app icon on your taskbar to update.

Please Note: This is ONLY the .exe and not the full application, so it will overwrite SlackyApp.exe.  This is not a stand-alone installer - That will be built tomorrow.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU CLOSE SLACKYAPP.EXE BEFORE UPDATING OTHERWISE IT WILL NOT WORK

If you have any issues with this update, please revert back to the original EXE for the last version or re-install using the full installer then LET ME KNOW if it failed :)

Update file no longer available - Please download the full installer to update from previous versions prior to v0.3.0.0

Not available for the anti-social among us, ie. requires Twitter, Facebook accounts to get it.

Just quickly register a fake Facebook profile using some random name and e-mail address...the website doesn't care lol

Update: v0.2.7.15

• Status Bar:  See what links you are about to visit when you hover the mouse over them.
• Show/Hide Balloon Tip on Minimize.
• Remember the last Slack domain used, in the text box.

New Users: Download from link in Original Post
Existing Users: Same as Above - Please UNINSTALL the current version of SlackApp that you have as the updater will NOT do this for you in the previous version.

From now, SlackyApp updates will all go into the same folders (I didn't realize the previous build went into it's own version folder instead of one main container...this has now been fixed and future installs will go in C:/Program Files (x86)/SlackyApp)

1. That tray balloon should have a check box on it to not show it to you again.

2. Remember the last Slack domain used, in the text box.

Added to my To-Do list :)

Living Room / Re: when will we eventually be able to
« Last post by KynloStephen66515 on October 21, 2014, 10:36 AM »
hello!

when will we eventually be able to go to a petrol station, fill our car, and pay automatically, contactless, instantly?

by a system that will recognize our plate and charge our account accordingly?

ok, if you want we can enter our pin to authorise the transaction, but for me personally it isn't necessary

thanks!

Have you heard of this new invention called the wheel?

oh we don't have it here in UK
where are you based? do you have it?

You do realise we have Contactless payment available at Tesco Petrol stations amongst many many others...for the most part, ASDA petrol stations are unmanned and require you to enter your Credit Card before pumping fuel...which...to be honest...if you are refueling...you are going to be standing around anyway, so it's not like you could be doing anything other than standing there...so it doesn't really take extra time

I just used BP and it didn't have any such feature! Do I need a special card to pay contactless?

Yes...you need a contactless payment card (Pretty standard with all new accounts these days - I got mine with Halifax - didn't ASK for it, but it came as part of the account - seen people with Barclays and TSB who both hve contactless available)

Talking about oil and such...just spotted this:

http://www.bbc.co.uk...ws/business-29699733

Total's CEO Christophe de Margerie dies in Moscow plane crash

Airport spokeswoman Elena Krylova said: "Tonight, a plane crashed when it collided with a snow-clearing machine. Three crew members and a passenger died."

"I can confirm that the passenger was Total's head de Margerie," she said.

Mr de Margerie had been chief executive of Europe's third largest oil company since 2007.

The company has confirmed his death.

Russia's emergencies ministry said in a statement that the accident had involved a Falcon-50 plane shortly before midnight Moscow time (20:00 GMT) on Monday. The jet had been due to fly to Paris.

The 63-year-old executive was highly regarded within the oil industry. At Total, where he had spent his entire career, he was nicknamed "Big Moustache".

He joined Total Group after graduating from the Ecole Superieure de Commerce in Paris in 1974.

John Hofmeister, former president of Shell Oil told the BBC: "It's a huge loss to the industry and its future focus.

"What he has done for Total in repositioning the company to return to integrity and sound operations is deeply respected and highly regarded."

During his time at the helm of Total Mr Margerie successfully defended the company against allegations of corruption around the UN oil-for-food programme in Iraq.

He maintained the company's investments in Burma and Iran despite US sanctions against those countries. This year he argued Europe should maintain its energy relationship with Russia amid the conflict in Ukraine.

Annoyingly, I can only upload files no bigger than 8MB to DonationCoder, so I am uploading the Installer to MediaFire.com - If the link doesn't work for you for any reason, let me know and I will upload elsewhere.

**edit** no longer using MediaFire.  The download is now stored on my own webserver
