Just yesterday a friend wrote me and told about a vision he allegedly had recieved from God. In the vision there was a blindfolded couple, standing in front of a giant diamond. They didn't know there was this huge treasure, so they didn't know they could touch it and grab it  if only they would reach out their arms. Your praise to D'Opus makes me sort of feel the same way.

I'm trying to figure out a good metaphor for Opus - I still have 8 & heard that with 9 the manual got much better
Anyways,
with 8 it's a bit like a diamond you have to polish your self which is a bit of a slog it has to be said -
I remember reading at their forum some guy saying he was going to take the manual on holidays with him

So, you do need to study it a bit, then if you have an idea of what you want to do,
but need help - go to their forums where Nudel & others are very helpful.

Actually the best intro is probably Nudels tutorial - start with that - might make you want to have another go at it.

I cant say how it compares with other filemanagers (apart from win explorer)
but if you customise it a bit AND if time is money ( ) it pays for itself very quickly

to be honest I'd say I'll probably stick with mainly using DO for a while at least -
with using XP didnt really see the point of upgrading to Opus 9 though.

You might get a discount again (for XY) on DC at some stage.
It seems to be reduced every now & again so ...

System Restore backs up system files of certain extensions (.exe, .dll, etc.), with the exception of files in My Documents folders, and saves them in a large compressed block for later recovery and use. It backs up the registry and most drivers. It does not back up or restore user data

PowerPro has lots of ways of adding and tracking favourite folders; it's an infinitely configurable program.  I've only got a simple version because I don't understand the complex ones.  Quoting from Powerpro's Help:

In my case, when an Opoen files dialog box appears, PowerPro automatically pops up a short list of very frequently used folders.  Pressing a hotkey gives me a second, larger list of less frequently accessed folders.

Does that explain anything...  or were you just having a silly five minutes?

I had had a look at their site but only now notice they have a forum & a wiki

my fear of too many versions is unnecessary:

..can occasionally tell FileHamster to remove unprotected files. Please note that files get set as protected by default when you add a comment.

I have it but the few times I've used it I end up mystified by too many choices and things to do.
I bought it on BitsduJour discounted.

I've gone back to tossing things on another drive partition or to a back up drive.

They do say

unfortunately they dont elaborate on the above quote (anywhere i can find at any rate)
I suspect they are talking about their way of restoring or something
To be honest when i used it I did have occasion to restore something - but I simply went & unzipped it
Because I havent used it yet on this computer I cant check stuff already backed up
