Official Announcements / Re: ZillaRank: An improved search for smf forum
« Last post by tomos on January 12, 2008, 03:59 AM »
the other day I was searching for a thread - "site for searching for geographical features?" is the title
I searched for "Finding Geographical features"
it found nothing

I had a look at the thread in question, and it didnt contain the word "Finding". The search engine, at this stage, does not automatically expand the query with synonyms, so if you look for a "required" keyword that does not exist in the target thread, it will not show up.  :)
okay.
Yes, default search requires all keywords in your query to appear in the same post or topic subject.
do you not think it would be better to use the "any words" search as default ... hmmm, pros and cons there I guess :-\
I'm sure you thought about it all

but then on the advanced search page that comes up, I selected "any words"
and found my thread, but I think it was #12 in spite of being the first with both "geographical" and "features"
was wondering here -
does the search favour the first word?

looks good

have a look at this search list (ignoring the couple about site content)
https://www.donation...arch2;search=tagging

SQL-Notes is complex but seems to be very versatile and is being developed at a hares pace but would require :-\ learning I'll just say! But I think it has, or will soon have all you're looking for

Evernote is very nice, I'm only getting really into it lately myself

is the default search set to all words (& not to "any words")?

very happy with search :) but thought I'd ask anyways

whats the difference between the "normal list" and the "extended list" as
shown in lanux's first screenshot above?
(or should I go read the *$§ßing manual?)
 :)

maybe free and reasonably priced versions :)

is there a forum there for it? or do people contact you by email if there's bugs?

I've used the RealWorld Cursor Editor recently and that was a nice experience
(this one is called RealWorld Photos 2007.1 beta)
looking forward to trying it

this alone sounds very good/different

Retouch a .jpg image without losing quality

RealWorld Photos is able to perform lossless and partially lossless modifications to jpeg images. If only a small portion of an image is modified, which is typical when scratches are removed from a photograph or when a watermark is added, RealWorld Photos will keep the rest of the image exactly as it was by copying the unchanged regions from the source image without decoding and re-encoding them.

I've been using this for 2 days now and, well, it's very motivating - you know what I mean ??

I'm being serious too - I'm  pleasantly suprised by the urge to build up those points :D
thanks mouser

a minor bug:
the reward column on the "Earn Points" tab only ever shows 10points here regardless of actual amounts (which work okay otherwise)
a minor request:
could you get it to come out of the tray on one click? (please!)
oh, and option to close to tray would be good too but only as icing

bardamu2000, there's a few threads recently here about tagging and organising of files (maybe if you do a search for each word) which I think have gone into great detail re problems & options

Seems like my ideas really demand a new architecture an can not be build easily on top of KN. As a first and very rough draft, I see a database holding different types of "notes" (real ones, media stuff...), easy drag&drop and copy/paste functionality, tags and mayby categories, and an alerting mechanism (not to forget editors)... a new application! Or maybe somebody knows on already capable of all this stuff?

sounds a bit like SQL-Notes to me -
not sure about the tagging as such cause I dont know the programme well enough but:
Long thread here SQLNotes...what is it exactly?
It's being developed at the moment in Beta so you could always make a request!

FARR Plugins and Aliases / Re: New C# FARR Plugin: FARRAltTab

I have according to my Add/Remove Programs .Net 2 and .Net 3 installed on my computer on a freshly installed xp system, which was modified with nLite.

me too, but dont think I did anything major with nlite
dont get any errors either but no plugin either
so
maybe I should try this
I had to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) (http://www.microsoft...7&displaylang=en)
says there:
for "a computer that does not have Visual C++ 2005 installed." - I didnt install it so guess it's not there - just did a search - no visual so will try that...

[edit] just checked my mail vitaly - you recommending the same  :D

Anyone know a good site for searching for geographical features?

found one today

Travel.Net.png

http://www.traveljournals.net/explore/

seems to do the world
I havent tested it that much but it's fairly good on irish rivers at any rate :)
(doesnt show source [of the rivers] though -unfortunately- but at least I can find the damn things!)

[edit] it's not so good on mountain ranges but seems okay so far on individual mountains [/edit]

[edit2] that page is confusing cause of the stories links etc (which weren't there when I copied the link!)- use the search box top of page to find your feature! [/edit]

i've never experienced winter
;D :tellme: ;D

actually
I have lots of static problems with my car (and have with all the different cars I have owned in the past)

I have that too and know of others with the same problem - have read [and experienced myself] that it's worse autumn (and spring i think) for "continental" climate at any rate and is to do with weather but definitely todo with person too.
I try flicking/tipping the car with my fingertips before I put key in cause sometimes I get a shock so bad I have a very sore finger for the rest of the day..
I'm sure it's entertaining for any passersby..

not as good/bad as J-Mac though :)
10094
:-* absolutely, that's a very impressive list Carl

ps - snagit doesnt have a discount listed?
10095

believe it or not now having sounds problems with my new computer (after you sorting the old one!)
but actually wanted help/advice with a laptop/broadband connection first

will send PM :)
EDIT/ sent an email

would it be difficult to make an option to save Summary View as CSV file too :-*
(or is there a way to filter detailed view to show like summary view - dont think so)

true nosh :D I kindof jumped and had to look a couple of times when i saw it first
