The Cat 6 goes straight into the router (tried multiple wires).  Internet is full speed when computer is cool...slow when it starts getting warmer

It's very odd lol

Remove dust from every computing device. Laptops are famous for collecting lots of dust that is not visible on the outside.
Pets and carpet? You have dust issues in your computer equipment. And don't forget shed human skin.
Use a laptop in bed? You have serious dust issues in your computer equipment. Really, the worst place to use a laptop is in bed.

In my place of employment there is a tile floor, desktops and no pets. Yet, every 6 months I take out servers and desktops and remove dust. And I'm still amazed by the amount of dust being sucked up by these computers. You clean your computers less frequently? You have dust issues in your computer equipment.

Have a non-tech partner that (compulsively) cleans? You have dust issues in your computer equipment.

Any mix of scenarios described here apply to you/your environment? You have serious dust issues in your computer equipment.

Once you eliminate your dust issues, you can look further. Especially older electronics used to be sensitive for changes in environment. I have worked in a company with an electronics lab containing an old 286 computer. If there was a storm front within 10 kilometers of that computer, it would fail. Most reliable weather computer I have ever seen...

Nowadays electronics do not have that many issues with changes in barometric pressure changes, humidity levels and/or temperatures. But it is still possible you have an electronically "worn" unit. When the room temperature goes beyond a certain level, do you turn on AC? There is a chance that this unit drops the power in your house just below a certain threshold that makes your computer environment behave as it does.

There are lots of weird scenarios to think of. But always go for dust elimination first. Electronics attract dust and lots of it. Even if you think you have a very clean environment, do that dust check.

I should have mentioned this is a wired connection on my desktop (which has just been cleaned today) xD

So, I've finally found the cause of my internet running slowly:

Whenever my internal temp is 30c+, my internet speed starts to drop dramatically...to the point I'm losing about 50% of my available speeds.

With the internal temp below 30c, I'm running around 500-550Mbps, but when I hit anything over 30c it starts to slow down to around 200-250  :tellme: :tellme: :tellme:

It's not like 30-35c is abnormally hot so I can't work out wtf is going on.

Anybody else had an issue like this?

Sorry to necro the post, but there's no download link.  :tellme:

I mean, Scancode hasn't been around in like 6 months and this is a 12-year-old thread.  Not really all that surprising that the download link is gone haha

Episode 2 is LIVE!

Check the first post in this thread for the links and info!

I will update the first post on this thread every time there is a new episode!

OK, I have decided on the following release schedule:

Every new episode will release on Sundays(UK) - Can't narrow it down to a specific time due to other commitments, but it will be every Sunday "at some point during the day".

If anybody wants me to include any specific news or topics then I need to know by Thursday on each week at the latest (Unless any massive stories happen on a Friday/Saturday, I plan to use Friday's/Saturday's as Edit Day rather than adding additional recording).

Thanks,

-Stephen (Kynlo)

Is it also on Google Podcasts? Thank you.

It finally got verified on Google.  The link is in the first post :)

I completely agree that the games have become the focal point of that image - dimming the lights may be the way to go or finding some way to make it less "look at me" :)
111
I really liked Mafia II.
Going to try out Mafia III soon.  :D

Mafia III is amazing.  One of the only games that drew me into the story and made me not skip cutscenes!
112
If anybody has any topics of interest they would like me to cover in EP2, please let me know as soon as possible.  I'm currently doing the outline for the episode so if there's anything you want me to talk about, now is the time to tell me!  :D
113
not bad (wasn't expecting that accent though  ;D ;D ;D)

might be an idea to provide an outline of the content so we know what to expect (I'm not a console guy, so this one was largely lost on me)

OK, Added a load more platform links and also added the outline in the first post (will edit with each episode!) :)
114
Is it also on Google Podcasts? Thank you.

Not currently - Distribution is slowly rolling out to more platforms (different acceptance time from each platform is making it slightly slower haha).

We are now on Pocketcasts and (seem) to also now be on iTunes (but I can't check that).
New links are in the main post!

Thanks.
115
The webpage that it's hosted on shows an outline of the episode with relevant links to the stories :p

I can post them here in the future though if people would like!

Thanks for listening!

Screenshot Captor / Re: Cannot capture browser windows
« Last post by KynloStephen66515 on September 24, 2020, 09:59 AM »
From a very quick google, this seems to actually be an issue caused by adware/malware.

https://forums.malwa...ad-of-getwindowinfo/
https://soft2secure....se/www_getwindowinfo

Please can the OP use something like MalwareBytes (or your prefered method) to see if anything is flagged?

(I cannot be 100% sure this is the case but it certainly seems plausible).

Thanks!

Using: Firefox 80.0.1 and then 81.0 (64-bit) [It updated during the test]
Latest Windows 10 build
Screenshot Captor: v4.36.2 (Licensed)

Firefox Window: Focused

Attempted to capture screen using both Keyboard Shortcuts, Quick Capture Bar and from within the Screenshot Captor Main Window.

All capture methods attempted (Minus Full-Screen DirectX)

Result: Cannot Replicate

Firefox Window: Last Focused Window

Result: Cannot Replicate (Same process as above)

----

Can anybody else give this a try to see if we can help mouser get to the bottom of it? :)

I did some more testing today with a slightly older build of SSC and still cannot replicate this at all.

OP: Any info you can give us would be greatly appreciated :)

Could you explain a little about what method you are attempting to use to capture the window? I have just tried it using the latest SSC, Firefox and Windows build (using every capture method I could think of) and cannot replicate this behaviour.

The image below was captured using "Capture windows object or scrolling window" then CTRL+Left Click on the window I wanted.

I use twitch with OBS... never tried youtube

OBS is great for recording even without sending it live to a platform  :)
123
For recording (especially multicam with live editing options) - 100% go OBS

For editing, I personally use OpenShot (which is free and Open Source)

For your graphical (and spritzy stuff), check out the following:

https://www.pexels.com/ (Free videos & images)
https://www.pixabay.com (free images)
https://www.freemusi...ve.org/curator/Video (Free audio)
[some of these are attricution based licenses but they always specify]

https://spark.adobe.com is also really handy for throwing together promo videos/graphics/stuff (not free but reasonably prices)

Found Deals and Discounts / Re: Windows 10 Professional for $40 PCWorld??
« Last post by KynloStephen66515 on September 09, 2020, 02:07 AM »
I did some digging and it turns out PC World (USA) have absolutely nothing to do with PC World (UK/EU) despite them having the exact same name.  Very odd indeed.

So, those pcworld.co.uk reviews are for the UK/EU one, not the pcworld.com one (which, in fairness, pcworld.co.uk does have shockingly bad customer service with overpriced products lol).

So weird that neither one has tried to have the other one change their name and neither of them has a "not affiliated with the other" on their websites

It's not from Microsoft. Possibly it's an EOM key that was scrounged from a junked PC, so it was valid at one time, but only for that PC.

Windows 10 Professional includes a 1-PC retail license which means you can install on a single PC and, later, move to another PC where required.

Retail License != OEM

I'd expect more research from a bunch of techies on a techy forum, to be honest.
