BrowserTraySwitch / Re: IE icon not captured in tray
« on: August 14, 2009, 09:54 PM »
Double clicking the icon DOES open FF (even though tray text says IE); but if I select "VISIT HOMEAPAGE ....", IE is opened.

Versions 2.05.01

I deleted the saved registry setting file for IE and opened IE as default and resaved the settings.

What appears this time is that IE uses the icon for FF this time as that was the current setting before resaving the IE registry options (and setting IE as default).

As I recall, Opera was the default before when I was setting up IE the first time so it seems to capture the icon that was currently in use by either the tray or the default browser.

When I switch from Opera to FF, the tray icon changes accordingly. This does not happen for IE which display the Opera icon when I select IE.

General Software Discussion / Re: 2 Speed tips for FF-gHacks
« on: July 27, 2009, 07:32 AM »
The first tip had a significant impact on my startup time

105
My favorites;

All-In-One_Sidebar
TotalToolbar .........  add and position new toolbars  ... makes my FF look more like Opera
ScrapBook  ........... capture and organize web pages/elements
TooManyTabs ......   save tabs to a tab toolbar
TabMixPlus
LocationBar ..........  segment the address bar into clickable elements

"Plase ES.exe next to the script."

Place es.exe next to the script ?  what does next to the script mean ? and what script is that ?

Plain english for install instructions helps ... forget the geek talk.

107
I have no problem with opera when typing that in... opera opens with the last session along with the google page .... no error... using Opera 10 beta

108
I agree, Radiosure has moved to the front .. and is being updated regularly so far

109
At this point, I would recommend people wait for Windows 7.

General Software Discussion / Re: Unknown Icon Overlay

resolved ... Norton 360 backup marks all filestypes selected for backup with a status overlay.
I found a setting to turn this off.

Some of my icons have an overlay image ... a little grey box with what looks like a pen/pencil in it.
I have no idea what it means or where it comes from.  Any help would be appreciated.  Probably something stupid I should know.. See below

General Software Discussion / Re: Best Screen Capture Tool

I normally use JING as most of my captures are made for the purpose of immediate sharing.  Otherwise I like FASTSTONE.

lol, me too

DOPUS has a lot of options. it is a bit overwhelming at first..  Read the PDF help and review the settings until you understand them.

115
it's 9.1 now

116
in general I am happy with my 64 bit windows ... on ocassion there are programs I can't install.... I would say what is most noticeable is the lack of 64-bit compatable extensions.  Some of my favorite shell extensions are only available with a 32-bit file manager.

file://localhost/C:/Temp/install.xml    added to Opera

read feed produces nothing

xml seems to have valkid data in it

I like Acronis true image.   Particularly the ability to do incremental backups.
Of course, it isn't free either.

What u want is a "bloated" application with bells and whistles to make everyone happy,
The stuff you want has never been all that important to me.

N.A.N.Y. 2009 / Re: NANY 2009 Release: CrushLinx

I'm reminded of fusker and some other similar utilities I have seen that can useful for certain sites :D

I'd like the option to specify source and destination (for lack of a better word) ... search for duplicates of those files in folder A where they are found ion B,C, or D .... BUT not between the latter (I.E. between B and C).

This allows for quick checks without having to re-do the entire thing.

Screenshot Captor / Re: How to capture drop-down menus?
« on: December 23, 2008, 05:40 AM »
I've been using JING for alot of my captures recently.... it autodetects window regions as you move your mouse and allows for both image and video capture followed by immediate upload for sharing.

The last is a time save for me.

If you can't find it .... reinstall again on top of the current one and then look for the uninstall

I certainly don't notice any speed increase whatsoever .  Ss for development, Opera is too busy satisfying the wants of their "geeks" to address the serious reguests of their "normal" users.

Ohh, it passes acid3 test ... let me rush out and ditch the browser that does what I want for Opera instead.

General Software Discussion / Re: Help needed to alter partitions
« on: December 02, 2008, 08:00 AM »
Just remember that there are two types of folders here ... system ones like MY MUSIC, DOCUMENTS, etc. and folders u created.
U can move folders as you wish (more or less) but pointers from other programs or the OS itself , in the case of system folders, have to be modified.
There are programs to tell the system where the system folders are located. Your programs will have to reviewed usually under OPTIONS/PREFENCES to make sure they point to the new locations.

Remeber ... we are talking data folders here not program file folders... I strongly recommend keeping program file folders in place because of the registry entries.

See this for free partition managers http://www.techsuppo...artition-manager.htm
