so there no way of having a small exe program that loads up, my users would never install 3rd party cilents to search with in file, they would just open file and search in the file.

It would be good to have a exe type program that you can type username in then it would show you dob or even copy dob to the clipboard.

General Software Discussion / Help finding a program.
« on: April 16, 2007, 10:38 AM »
for the last month or so i been looking for a program, and downloaded so many programs and none of them has been what i wanted.

what i need and why.

A webpage making software, that you can use to make a 1 page site, with some txt at the top and then say 5 images below it, Then able to publish to the web in a seperate folder, then in the soruce code all the img html lines are full url's not
<img src="boat.gif" alt="Big Boat">
should be
<img src="http://www.website.com/folder1/boat.gif" alt="Big Boat">
That way i could be able to copy the source code and paste into turbo lister for ebay.

Ive tested alot of ebay programs, and only one i found that does this is spoonfeeder but its to hard for my dad to use.

At the moment, He scans photos in, Uploads via ftp to my host, then opens NVU and types out desc, then alt tab to website where all photos are then right click copy location then paste into nvu.. its a progress that takes ages, has anyone seen webpage maker that would publish true paths to the net.. would solve alot of work. he uploads around 10 ebay items aday, and mum does ebay too so 20 between them. its there job and works well, but slow, maybe they could do 15 each if there was such a program

Ive asked of NVU sites and other sites, but never get a good answer, and as this forum is my sorta forum full of app people im sure you may have come accross such a program

Farr is great and i love it Problem is this program would need to be used by my Level 1 team, and they prob wouldnt install farr, cause they stupid. but i would use it and would love to see it in FARR

We work as a support team for a uni we get alot of students ringing up with lost passwords, so we have to changed the account using MMC program, to active directory, But all the passwords are stored in a seperate program, so we have to load up and log into this other program, but i have worked out how to export the passwords to a secure share that only my team can access, and was hoping i could get a program i can add a link to in MMC user manager i made to make it simple for my team to use.

Also wanted to add another search using same code sorta, that could display the data from other program i asked for.

I been searching the internet for 3days now trying to look for a simple program, that will run on windows 2000

That would Pop up a search box where you type in a word, then it searches a Txt file or Xml file or CSv file, and brings back to the screen the line of next from the search name.

E.g.

Txt file looks like this

s32452135 4503205
s20034423 20304955
s0209422 2939923
and so on

Xml looks like this of same txt file
<Pwdobs>
<number>s32452135</number>
<Dob>4503205</Dob>
</Pwdobs>
<Pwdobs>
<Snumber>s20034423</Snumber>
<Dob>20304955</Dob>
</Pwdobs>

So i got the file, Now just want a simple seach that would look for required number - s32452135 and then it would display 4503205 in a txt box that can be Copied.

I thought using Xml would make it easier as you search in number and show Dob

But i cant seem to find anything on the net that helps me with this.

needs to be program if possiable to make it easier for users to use, But html popup would do too.

Anyone able to help.

also got other text files with info i want displayed in a program.

i have Visual Basic express on pc, but its been 10years since i used a programming lang

Wow, Thats dead good, Thanks so much, grabs the data that i need very well.

1 thing, Some errors come up saying G:\inv\C02348.txt - was missing a value for 'INTERNET EXPLORER VERSION:'
when it outputs, it skips them out in the csv, is there away of adding them but leaving the field blank

It dont matter if not.

What you are asking for is probably doable, but would require a lot of hard coding to get only the info you wanted out of the report. (From just a quick look at things.) How much leeway do you have? You could use WMI and gather the info that you wanted, even remotely, and put it in a CSV or straight into the SQL server.

Also, have you looked into freeware tools like WinAudit and Belarc Advisor?
tried the freeware tools, not so good, As i dont wanna go and vist 2,000 computers to run it.

If the whole text file was Made into a csv would be ok, would just ignore fields when importing into sql or access

Not exactly a piece of beauty but it appears to do the trick for me. Have you an FTP that I can upload the .exe and xml to? My webmail might let me e-mail it to you, work mail will definitely block it.

my email is [email protected]
uploading i guess one of them free sites like: http://www.yousendit.com/

Or gmail drive.

Or attach to thread if under 8000 KB

Would be ideal if all files were added to one csv EG:
System Snapshot:,Last User:,System Name:,Processor: ,Total Physical Memory:      ,Free Physical Memory:      ,Total Disk Space,Free Disk Space,Physical Address.,IP Address.,Software Installed: ,Printer name:
Date,s2101307,c09730,    Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz 2793MHz,511MB,160MB,33503MB,11043MB,00-0C-F1-E1-41-81,10.59.11.241,office PDF Photoshop etc, \\c12214\ICT RICOH Aficio 2020D PCL 6
next text file,next text file,next text file,next text file,next text file,next text file,next text file,next text file,next text file,next text file,next text file,next text file

Or if Single Just ignore Next text file

Or anyother way u can suggest would be good.

I run a Inventory system of computers on the network, and before i had to do them all manually, importing into a sql database, But thought it would be easier if just used a system snapshot, then import into the sql file, every week or too with the latest updates.

Csv is easy to work with, But access or Sql can be ok too, just a database of all the content of the files.

If there no way around this then ill have to think of somthing else.

Not sure if anyone else gets this problem:
Multi-monitor setup to stand alone mode. Some applications just insist on starting up off the screen.

I have and been searching the web with a fix.

I came across this program, Which allows you to force programs to load on the other screen.

Name: Force Window Visible
URL: http://www.compendiu...rcedisplay/index.php

Just posting incase anyone else has this problem.

(Searched forum could not see any other posts with this type of program)
