PS- Best bit is it is free ...

This is brilliant - boot Windows XP/2003 from a CD without using hard disc at all to allow file recovery etc.

See http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/

It is dead easy to use:

Run the program,

Insert your Win XP/2003 installer CD

and it produces an ISO file to burn to CD which will boot your system (provided your system supports booting from CD).

It also provides various useful tools etc.

The programme was recommended by Fred Langa (of LangaList fame).

Have fun

Carol

BrowserTraySwitch / Bug with Firefox 1.0.6 ???
« on: August 03, 2005, 06:23 PM »
If I change default browser from Firefax to something else and back Firefox reports it is not the default browser next time it is opened (even though it is selected as default in BTS).

Anyone else experienced this?

i am going to try to implement both and make it easy to switch - that should give us the best of both worlds.

Sounds like a good idea - though you do like making things harder for yourself ;)

Go for it - having seen some of the stuff they produce for schools you'll get someone buying it !

The enterprise, this is a large use, of which, it is a really good illustration, when acn, which is good computers, it regarded the applicable day with the language of this newspaper.  As in the additional letter a use, this, it is repaired to the work, French to the good Spanish, to the grammar, which is produced here, to the interior and to the German with the repair (if English the identical nonspecific of BAK for more to translate must).  Therefore safe most important necessity little, relati 10 the minute with you, too much company produces with the useful disturbance of the fish.

So that's clear  :)

(And in case you don't quite follow that is what it produced from the following - using Double Chain All)

I think it is a great application which is a really good illustration of how well computers acn cope with real day to day language.

How about writing a further application that does the job properly producing good, grammatically correct French, Spanish and German (not to mention identical English when it is translated bak). Surely it must be a trivial, 10 minute, task to produce such a useful Babel fish.

Looks good to me (haven't had time to look too closely).

I like the idea of a "simpleton" mode and a "nerdie" mode - to simplify or add bells and whistles.

A couple of questions:

1) What is the count column for on the left (they all seem to be 0)? I presume it is a word count???

2) As someone else said why not integrate all the clips into the tree hierarchy? It would make it all look a little less cluttered.

You are a bit of a star ....

I showed this to a fried who teaches French and Spanish.

It's a really fun way of showing kids that you can't just write your homework in English and chuck it into BabelFish (or similar) to get 10/10 !!

Translating using one language filter is bad enough - but it is great when you go through all the translators

Love it ...

I refrained from hoping for format control and graphics etc. 'cos I thought that would be a bit harder to implement, but if you can do it that would be great.

How about being able to reorder the clips (and perhaps name them rather than just timestamp them). Then they could be organised and a user selected group of clips outputted in whatever format ...

How about a clipboard save function?

It would be nice to save individual clips, selected clips or the whole collection as a text file.

Don't know how others are using this but I find I save large chunks to the clipboard - particularly when I am form filling, or grabbing lumps of info from a webpage etc. It would be nice to be able to save these without having to copy to clipboard/open app/copy/save etc.

If you can select sets of clips or ranges of clips (ctrl/shift click) it could become the basis for a project editor too ...

Just a thought

carol when you get a chance pick yourself out an avatar image from the "Profile" page, gives the pages a little more personality :)

I don't think it was a version issue as the same problem happened with the previous version too.

7739
Strange - it seems to have cured itself.

Maybe it was a glitch on my system ....

7740
Thanks - that has fixed that problem.

Actually I still have another problem.

If I set "Start with windows" and "Start Minimized" in options then next time Windows starts up the application loads (but does not minimize).

Also when loaded the two tick boxes have been unchecked in options and so on subsequent restarts it doesn't load at all.

Opening and closing the programme doesn't have this effect - it is just on reboot.

I don't think it is a problem with my registry not saving as other apps manage to save settings in the registry.

Any ideas?

Carol

Clipboard Help+Spell / Clipboard Help + Spell problem
« on: July 26, 2005, 03:00 PM »
Don't know if this is the correct place to ask ...

I have downloaded "Cliboard Help + Spell" and it is a great little utility. However I have one problem ...

CH+S is set to load with windows. When I reboot my system CH+S starts but gives the following error:

DBISAM Engine Error # 11013 Access denied to table 'ClipHistory'

Anyone else experienced this? Any way to fix it?

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but the same problem occurs.

I have to exit and reload to get the utility to load.

Thanks
