well, it does save all black and whitelist stuff along with all other settings.

if what you want is a save for only blacklist/whitelist but none of the other settings, then i'd have to split some functions up to make that possible.

it already does. (or it should anyway)

all i really did was add an on demand 'save options' link into the function that does this on startup/shutdown.

sure thing mouser :)

[from readme.txt]

Linked Songs
------------------------------------
The purpose of using the linked songs list is to make sure that if a specific
song is added to your playlist, it will be followed always by the song you
choose.

Why use this?
On quite a few albums there are so-called "intro" songs which lead or crossfade
into other songs that when separated or at least played by themselves, sound
awkward and out of place.  By setting up these "intro" songs and linking them
with the song that, on the original album, naturally plays next, you'll end up
with a much more pleasant compilation.

How does it work?
Either drag a file onto the list (you'll be prompted for the file (song) for it
to be linked to) or right-click the list and add it manually (you'll be
prompted twice:  once for each file.)

When either song is found by Random Mix Tape Maker it will add both in their
proper order (song1 then song2).

Limitations
------------------------------------

5)  Both linked songs may not make it onto your playlist if restricted by user
    defined limits.

Seedling's Software / Re: Drag & Drop Bug?
« on: July 20, 2006, 11:28 PM »
if this is only happening with media monkey, then my guess is there's a problem with the d/d component just like with nero. when i have a chance, i'll install media monkey to see if the problem can be fixed

as far as speeding things up... there's really not much i can do outside of removing safeguards that check for not only specific file extension, but that it's actually a valid media file when it finds it (this makes for faster list building once initial hdd search is done).

It would be nice to have a drop down box of artists to add to the genre search.

if you want to look for a specific artist, then use the keyword search and enable exclusive. there are WAY too many artists out there to properly build a complete drop down list for this.

if you want (i don't know what you listen to) but say 'prince' and 'depeche mode'. then just put in the keyword search: "prince, depeche"

that will give you only those artists (unless you have some cross-mix track with both those names or other tracks with those names specifically in them). that's about all i can do for now. i could (in the future) build in a user built list where you'd put in your own list, but i think that would be counter productive.

« on: July 18, 2006, 08:29 PM »
hmm...

well, i'm using 1024 x 768 display with no problems. the min form size is set to 800 x 600 so if you're using a resolution that is larger than that, then you should be able to see the entire form. if you're not, the only thing i can think of is perhaps you're using some sort of oversized fonts or strange theme that blows up normal window bars and other screen real estate by using large fonts and icons.  if that's not the case, then you should check your settings.ini file and look at the following lines:

fHeight = 600
fWidth = 800

if those values are larger than your screen size, then you should change them to the above values or as a last resort you should BACKUP your settings.ini file in the RMTM dir, delete it, and restart RMTM. if that still doesn't fix it... then i'm kinda out of ideas.

where are you trying to drop the dir? (what list, box, etc) and what is the effect? (i.e. program hangs, crashes, doesn't do anything)

the only problem i've encountered with the drag/drop component is when attempting to drag from RMTM to nero (this is discussed in the readme).

waiting for your reply...

116
thanks for using it! :)

Wish List:  How about a drop down box (seeded on directory search) for Artist ..... that way you can insure that even when selecting a certain Genre your sure to include some favorite artists .......

well, you can always drop a dir or mp3 file to the "Must Have List". everything that is in that list will always be included into your compilation (so long as it doesn't over extend the time or size limits).

an example would be, say you want primarily a rap genre mix, but there are a couple songs in the rock category that you'd like to incorporate. all you'd do is drop those rock songs into the "Must Have List" and set your genre limit to rap. this would then only seek out and populate the list with rap songs, but still include those other rock songs you like.

if this is not what you're talking about doing, please elaborate.

no problem i'll just redesign the gui :)

haha

no, seriously, it's a good and valid suggestion and something that i should've thought of before since a lot of ppl still, for one reason or another, use that resolution.

i'll see what i can do

EDIT:

ok, here try the attachment

wow, windows 95! :)

well, i do not have a win95 machine to debug on, but let me ask: what is your screen resolution set to?

here's why i ask (and what i'm thinking may be the problem)

if you have your resolution at 800 x 600 then not only will will this app take up your entire screen, but you won't be able to resize it. it's not a bug. this app is set with a minimum window size of 810 x 710 and should be used with a resolution size of at least 1024 x 768. i could allow this to be resized down even more, but then certain options would undoubtedly be covered up in the process.

if this doesn't cover your problem, let me know

Random Mix Tape Maker v1.9.38.105

I'm only going to list the changelog for the last few builds here from now on as it's getting extensive.  To see an entire list of changes in the app's history, refer to the readme.txt file included in the .zip file.

Release History
------------------------------------
1.9.38.105 19-Sep-2008
----------------------
  * Options are now in their own separate window.
Simply click the "Show Options" to access them.

  * Songs from the created playlist must now be right-click-dragged out of
the playlist area. This fixes a potentially disastrous situation where
songs dragged to another location would be moved instead of copied.
This also now fixes the locking up issue with Nero Burning Rom.

  * Fixed Excluded keyword logic

  * Removed the Randomize Playlist only option.

1.9.36.100 29-Jan-2008
----------------------
+ Added a redundancy option to have it affect the Must Have List

1.9.36.99 28-Jan-2008
---------------------
+ Added the ability to drag and drop .m3u files onto both BlackList or
    Must-Have List
  * Adjusted the way Random MixTape Maker reads ID3 info. (It now reads
from ID3v2->ID3v1. It used to read from ID3v1->ID3v2) This will ensure
more complete info displayed and referenced from properly tagged files
  * Fixed a startup issue when starting maximized did not fill the screen
    correctly
  * Adjusted the behavior of keyword checked options.
Only by checking 'Use Keywords' can the 'Keyword Priority' option be used.
Only by checking 'Use Keywords Exclusively' can the 'Keyword Options' be
used. Keyword entry fields are only active if one of the above keyword options
    is selected.

specified in an ID3 tag [see limitations]

great suggestion marc!

i'll work on that this week (shouldn't be a big deal to add).

of course the only limitation of this will be that any mp3's without ID3 info will be left out.

124
wow, thanks so much! :-[

and to any who help support us little software devs.  :D

125
hey everyone! :)

i hope you guys like this one. if you have a decent mp3 collection and like to mix things up when listening to music, then you should.

thanks for the compliment, mouser. :)

if there's anything you guys like/dislike about this app, i'd really like to hear it
