Find And Run Robot / Re: Disable Ctrl+Break?
« on: July 10, 2008, 02:14 PM »
You can set any hotkey you want, so I don't see how it can be much 'better', but I definitely agree with you on the placement in the options tree, it should be under settings no doubt. Lists is indeed a rather vague heading, I never really noticed it actually. I guess mouser wanted to have at least 2 headings in his options tree, otherwise it would just be a long list ;)

Please don't forget to add the ability to display file extensions on file browsing only :-[

103
I had a similar issue, it included a mounted virtual CD-ROM device using daemon tools. I am sorry, I can not exactly remember the details but I can confirm this is an issue sometimes. I resolved by removing all history items pointing to the device if I recall correctly.
The same does not seem to apply to usb thumb drives that are attached and detached though..

104
You only want to change aliases or the general search as well? Cause when I open farr and start typing there is obviously no way to determine whether I want to search for a previously browsed folder or a previously launched program :)

105
Not a big feature request, but I'd like to have an option to show file extensions, only when browsing for files. I hope you can somehow distinguish between file browsing and results that come from search folders. I am aware of the 'Result Label Extension' option to show the file extension. However, in normal results I don't need the file extension since I primarily use FARR to launch programs, which are always .lnk, hence making the extension completely obsolete, and not to mention plain ugly.

It was not until today I noticed extensions are hidden in file browsing mode as well. I primarly use this mode to navigate to folders so I am guessing this explains why I did not notice. When I was searching for a file I suddenly saw the extension was missing - which was not very helpful to identify a file I was looking for. So my request is simple: could you somehow allow to show file extensions when file browsing, while hiding them on other searches / results?

Regards!

~edit | Seeing an option that you named "Switch from Large to Small icons on DirLists" (@ Display Options), I suppose this will not take you very long to implement (as you can cleary distinguish between DirLists and other results)  :-[

I'd suggest to let the tooltip appear somewhere above the file, not over the file so it covers it like in this screenshot.

I assume mouser's recommended heuristic score settings are the default settings, actually ;)

Yes I guess s.newave has a very good point - focus is already kept when using alt + left/right. Once you are using the arrow keys (without alt) to navigate, to me it seems clear you do not _want_ to type in any filterstrings, therefore focus should be kept in the list, not in the editbox. Other than that, it's great that you keep fixing these newly discovered issues mouser!

Hmm, I might have used [email protected] as username, instead of simply username (my screenshot says '[email protected]@gmail.com' (username is blanked out)). Anyway, I also put your attached file in the plugins\FARRGoogleCalendar folder and now it works, so I guess that .dll file is required. Please include it as part of the plugin :)

I also installed the file you linked to and gcalc crashes farr for me as well. When restarted, farr crashes again with the attached error.

Find And Run Robot / [Bug Report] Duplicates in history
« on: June 14, 2008, 08:28 AM »
Apparently the history now allows for duplicates to exist, and when a string matches these duplicates, both (or more I guess) will be displayed as results. As you can see in the picture, I do have the 'Remove duplicate links to same target application' ticked. In my case the duplicate item is a folder, though, and the issue does not seem to exist with links to applications.

Also, I have noticed in file browsing mode, the folder being currently browsed is always converted to lower case, is that intentional? I have attached a screenshot that illustrates this behavior. The folder is actually name FaRr, but once browsed it is displayed on top as 'farr'. If this was done to make it obvious this is the folder being browsed, please make it italic or bold instead of changing it's case.

Regards

Not a very clear story, but I suppose you want to say FARR does not find certain programs? Before I start to think about way too complicated causes let me ask you this first, the files you want to find are located in your 'Search Folders', right?

Find And Run Robot / Re: How do you pass multiple arguments?
« on: April 20, 2008, 03:50 PM »
Not sure what you want, cause you are basically giving the answer yourself already ;) Do you have difficulty with capturing arguments using regexp or applying them, cause applying is done the way you described, basically. Anyway, here's an example using the ping.exe file:

Regexp: ^ping (.+) (.+)
Command: C:\Windows\System32\ping.exe -n $$1 $$2

This pings a host n times, with host = $$2 and n = $$1

114
Well the Windows clock displays the date by simply hovering over it with your mouse, and memory information is beyond unnecessary for you with 8GB :) Anyway, as a plugin it's no problem ofcourse. If someone decides to write one I wouldn't use it, though ;)

Find And Run Robot / Re: Separators in alias groups
« on: April 07, 2008, 08:10 AM »
Well but that way "separators" are also assigned numbers so if you have 9 entries and thus 8 separators you can only open item 1 till 5 with 1/3/5/7/9. I know it's just a workaround, but it's not ideal either :) Shouldn't be too much work for mouser, hopefully.

Find And Run Robot / Re: Is "Launch and stay open" broken?

For me choosing Launch and Open from the context menu does not work either.

mhermes, I think your second post hit the nail on the head.
FARR remember where it was last displayed ...
Does FARR remember the absolute coordinates or does FARR calculate relative coordinates? As in, if FARR is currently displayed on a 1680x1050 resolution at 105 pixels (10% of height) from the top of the screen and for whatever reason I decide to close FARR, switch to a 1024x768 resolution and open FARR again, will FARR be displayed at ~77 pixels from the top or at 105 pixels again? Just a minor thing ofcourse, but I'd recommend using relative coordinates so FARR stays at the same position. This would at least keep FARR centered on any resolution if you had it centered at first :).

FARR Plugins and Aliases / Re: farrfox without ff?
« on: April 06, 2008, 02:21 PM »
If mouser finds a good way to implement this I guess it would be possible as well to make this an optional feature; to be enabled in the farrfox plugin options.

Find And Run Robot / Re: I need simple alias help
« on: April 05, 2008, 01:52 PM »
one thing we could add which addresses someone else's request for a way to easily pass commandline arguments is to add a special character meaning everything after this should be considered an argument, like if you type: "notepad & test.text"
then FARR would know that everything after the & should not be used for searching but should be passed as an argument to the triggered program.

That would be nice.

Find And Run Robot / Re: Another shortcut problem
« on: April 04, 2008, 07:44 AM »
Hm I see. I guess %ProgramFiles% is used in the target then, cause it really says C:\Programs over here. Anyway, I don't know what's going on then ;)

The modulo operation represented by % would definitely be nice. Unfortunately I don't have C++ knowledge :)

Ah that's right. Still I think it wouldn't really hurt to just include it :) But you are right, I kinda forgot about this.

Is there a way to enter the number Pi? Since Sin and Cos are available it would make perfect sense to include Pi as well, right :)?

Find And Run Robot / Re: Another shortcut problem
« on: April 03, 2008, 01:59 PM »
In your example shortcut the problem seems clear; the Target is set to C:\Programs\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe (nLite? I renamed Program Files to Programs as well ;)), while the Start in points to
F:\VideoLAN\VLC
