While some of the proposed enhancements look useful and I look forward to your next version, I am finding the current version (1.0.2 beta) very useful.  I copy a lot of stuff and paste it into eMail.  Being able to strip unwanted formatting or change capitalization on the fly is very nice, as is the ability to correct Caps Lock mistakes or the unwanted formatting changes that Thunderbird sometimes makes.

Simple. Easy. Useful.

Thanks, Anand.

I agree you should preserve the simplicity of use you've been able to achieve.  I was hoping these options would be compatible with that objective.

Another suggestion:

When pasting text like a file name, provide the following options in the menu or the settings dialog (Expenses from 01/04/2011 to 15/04/2011):
* Remove invalid characters (Expenses from 01042011 to 15042011)
* Remove invalid characters and spaces and capitalize any letter that immediately followed a character that was removed (ExpensesFrom01042011To15042011)
* Replace invalid characters with X, where X could be specified via a setting (Expenses from 01_04_2011 to 15_04_2011 or Expenses from 01-04-2011 to 15-04-2011)

Sorry, some of the text was changed without my catching it.

"all tags except <a> and [/url]"
should have been
"all tags except <a> and </a>"

Thanks for the handy application, Ananad.

I would like to suggest an additional format.  When you copy a link from an article in a browser (eg, Chrome), you get something like Sample #1 below.  When you simply paste it into an email client (eg, Thunderbird), it changes your formatting because of the embedded class and style attributes and the span tags.  It would be nice if you could eliminate all attributes except href and all tags except <a> and </a> (see Sample #2).

Sample #1
<a class="h5"
href="http://futureoftech....ons-may-get-upgraded"
      style="margin-top: 7px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 5px;
      margin-left: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px;
      padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-top-width: 0px;
      border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: initial;
      border-left-width: 0px; border-style: initial; border-color:
      initial; border-image: initial; outline-width: 0px; outline-style:
      initial; outline-color: initial; font-size: 18px; vertical-align:
      baseline; color: rgb(17, 68, 119); text-decoration: none;
      font-weight: normal; line-height: 1.25em; font-family: Georgia,
      serif; border-bottom-style: none; border-bottom-color: initial;
      font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; letter-spacing: normal;
      orphans: 2; text-align: -webkit-auto; text-indent: 0px;
      text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2;

      -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: rgb(255, 255,
      255); "><span property="dc:title" style="margin-top: 0px;

Thanks.  No, not dragging.  Just moving the mouse (perhaps quickly).  Nothing pressed.  I have a Logitech VX Revolution wireless mouse with two main buttons, a scroll wheel and some auxiliary buttons (all mapped to defaults); no middle button.  There's also a Synaptics pointing device (laptop), but I cover that up.

I can't reproduce the problem at will; it just happens when I'm not expecting it.

If you can't think of a feature that might cause this, maybe it's my mouse.  Sometimes it loses its place when I'm selecting text, so maybe the wireless is sending bogus signals occasionally.

Thanks for a very nice app.  From time to time the grid appears when I'm not expecting (and don't want) it.  I'm not sure what I'm doing to cause his (I'm always surprised when it happens).  I think I'm just moving the mouse with no buttons or keys pressed.  I unchecked Fast Move, but that didn't help.  Sometimes typing ESC cancels the grid; sometimes I have to find Undo in the grid and click that.  I'm using the 2 Part-Vertical template on Vista with two monitors.  Is there a way to prevent this from happening.  First six options checked; also Use Command.  V1.19.59.

I just installed FARR on my Vista32 computer.  Looks very nice.  When I attempted to create an alias, I found that New Alias Group... did not appear in the Add to Group Alias submenu.

I believe this happened because the alias folder was installed beneath the Program Files folder and Vista does not want programs writing to that tree.

I moved the AliasGroups folder to C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\FindAndRunRobot, which is where Vista would like it to be and found that the alias menu now worked.

To which other folders and files does FARR write?  Perhaps these should be moved also.  Could the installer be modified to do this automatically for Vista and Windows 7?  If not, it might be useful to provide a command script to do this, along with a note for Vista/Win7 users.

When I restart Vista, it always blocks Process Tamer.  PT seems to run if I right-click the Blocked Processes icon in the tray and choose PT, but it would be nice if Vista could be persuaded not to block it.  It's possible I've overlooked some feature of PT or that there's some way to enable PT in Vista.  I've tried using the Software Explorer in Windows Defender, but the Enable button is disabled for PT.

Are not Windows partisans just as bad?

Excellent work, relequestual!  Thanks very much.  Several interesting finds just on the first page.  I'm baffled by the detractors; if you don't see the use for something, pass on by; no need to trash people.  One guy seemed to entirely miss the point that you were talking about Free software.

Gah, I thought at 54-56 I'd be the only old-timer here. What a surprise to see I'm still just "middle-aged" though I have to admit there was a time when I thought "middle-aged" was definitely "over the hill." Funny what a few years'll do to an opinion, huh?

 :o ;) :Thmbsup:
Bob, I'm right with you! Same bracket. (And don't let them kid you.... we ARE over the hill!!)

While you're looking, consider PowerBasic.  It's supposed to produce very tight, fast code; and it is actively supported by the vendor and several third parties.
