DcUpdater / Re: DCUpdater does not recognize installed programs

I'm having the same issue here...was there any resolution?

I was about to abandon FARR for Launchy when I found this thread. I found the one level path fix worked too.

You need to re-register the msscript.ocx file.

run this:  "c:\windows\system32\ regsrv32 msscript.ocx"

That fixed it for me.

I finally figured this out (or found another post about it on another message board)...
I was using a Yahoo Widget called Month Calendar by Harry Whitfield. It was hijacking the ctrl + space keystroke. I went into the prefs and cleared it out and all is good.

Phew.

5
It had stopped for a while and then it started happening again. Do you use Logitech SetPoint on your system? I thought it might have something to do with that, but I'm not completely sure.

Any other ideas? Now the Narrator no longer says anything, Ctrl + Space doesn't work. I've confirmed that it's checked in the FARR settings.

Thanks.

7
I had already checked all those settings. No luck. Somehow ctrl + space has been mapped to activate the narrator and I can't find a reference to it.

I was messing around with my sound card and I've now somehow mapped the ctrl + space key combo to some sort of text recognition feature of Windows Vista (SP1). This happened once before and of course I didn't document the fix (it may have just fixed itself). Anyone run into this? I hit ctrl + space and Microsoft Anna says, "There is no text". I could use Alt + Space, but I don't want to.  Any ideas for remapping? I don't have the language bar running, and I've confirmed that all other languages are disabled and all text related assistance utilities are disabled too.

Thanks...

Dur. I had done that before, but didn't notice that the setting needed to be up top and had tacked the CONFIGDIR below all the text. Sorry to bother.

Thanks.

Find And Run Robot / "Could not write temporary file..." error
« on: August 12, 2008, 12:59 PM »
I'm using Vista SP1 and my user/documents drive is redirected to a network drive. Whenever I try to apply a setting I get the "Could not write temporary file" error. I have full rights to the DonationCoder folder on the network drive, so I'm not sure why this is happening. Is there any way for me to relocate this folder to a local drive?

I'll try it again tonight. It's been a rocky last couple days.

I just upgraded my home PC to Vista, and I can't even get FARR to install properly. Installation completes successfully, but I get an application error after trying to start it. I uninstalled it and then reinstalled and ran dcupdater, but no luck. I'm still slogging my way through Vista, trying to figure out where the hell everything is, so once I figure out how to get to the Event Viewer (j/k, I found it), I can post some more specific information. But life without FARR is very frustrating.
