thanks so much.  I can now have lb pop up where the windows start menu used to be.

LaunchBar Commander / Idea for LB and FARR
« on: July 15, 2013, 08:30 AM »
I keep finding myself wanting to have a text entry box as part of the launchbar that is the box for entering commands into FARR.  This would be a great feature.

LaunchBar Commander / Idea: popup at corners
« on: July 15, 2013, 06:48 AM »
I love this product and since I am on Win8 it is my start menu.  I had an idea:  I often use the keystrokes to make the menu pop up.   It can popup at the cursor or a specific x/y.  I use a 2 screen set up at the office and then just a laptop screen while traveling.  They have different sizes.  I want to have the menu always popup at the lower left corner (where start used to be).  0/0 gives me upper left but what gives me lower left, and then each other corner.

Thanks for the update.  Now that I use Win8 this has become one of my most used apps.

LaunchBar Commander / Re: dock to side of the screen

Got it to dock.  Had to keep dragging to get 1/2 the dock into the side of the screen.

LaunchBar Commander / dock to side of the screen
« on: October 30, 2012, 08:15 AM »
Is it possible to dock to the side of the screen?  I've tried dragging to the side and it doesn't dock like it does at the top.  Can't see an option to do this.  BTW, on Windows 8.

Thanks in advance

Find And Run Robot / Re: Latest FARR Release v2.200.01 - Sep 25, 2012
« on: September 26, 2012, 08:45 AM »

With the 2.200.1 release I get an access violation (win 8, x64).  Happened after I tried to run an alias that open 6 pages in the browser.  Also ALT-O doesn't bring up options.

Mouser, thanks for the update.  I use the portable version. The link in the first post is for the installer.  I hacked the name and the portable version seem to be there.  Downloaded and it is the right one.  I'm assuming you build both but don't have the portable link in the post for some reason?  Am I right?  Can you make the portable version "official" in the first post?

Thanks again.

Find And Run Robot / Windows 8 and FARR
« on: July 03, 2012, 06:48 AM »
I've been using FARR and found it a great and very useful tool for a while.  I am now running Windows 8 and FARR has gone from useful to ESSENTIAL/MANDATORY.  With the start menu gone and the search that was part of it gone and the mess of Metro, you can't use the desktop without FARR.

Thanks again for the great piece of software

FARR Plugins and Aliases / Re: FARR plugin: FARR Windows Search 0.3.0
« on: November 22, 2011, 08:51 AM »
Hi phitsc, I still get the EAccess violation error (mentioned in the thread earlier).

@ewemoa : I'm using it on XP sp3. Works well. except for the errors.
Normally you need to add a space after ws before typing ?
Did you try changing the default alias ? I changed it to ^ws (.*), so actual search starts when I insert a space after "ws" [EDIT : Note that this shouldn't be necessary -- I do that as a precaution]. And I configured ctr+alt+space to automatically insert ws[space] in the farr text box.

I gave the alias a try "(ws (.*)" and now it works!

I can't get the latest to work at all.  Using Windows 7 x64.  Every time I type ws a space and then anything it freezes and crashes.

before switching to FARR I used Executor and the thing I miss is the integrated search.   Speed is what is important and so I'd say do tight integration and caching.  Allow the user to specify which folders are searched/cached and depth as well as extensions.  Option 2 seems a reasonable approach.

I've tried some of the plugins and didn't have great success and so I'd not favor that approach.

I accidentally left the caps lock key on and my entry into FARR didn't match what I typed.  FARR is case sensitive.  I'd like an option to make it case insensitive and actually think this should be the default, as the base OS is case insentitive.  I am aware that FARR uses regex pattern matching, so what I am suggesting is that a /i be inplied unless otherwise indicated.

I have a feature request.  I'd like to be able to have a command that is composed of other aliases.  For example, I have an alias for opening site 1 and an alias for site 2.  I'd like to have an alias that open site 1 and site 2.  I can do this by entering the URLs, but not the aliases, as far as I can tell.

Find And Run Robot / Re: Possible to bind a key sequence to an alias?
« on: October 26, 2010, 08:38 AM »
I figured this out.  A bit confusing to have the hotkey be separate from the alias, but I guess I udnerstand why.  The dolaunch is also a key to making things really work.

Find And Run Robot / Possible to bind a key sequence to an alias?
« on: October 26, 2010, 07:52 AM »
I am new to FARR and it seems like a great utility and very powerful.  I looked at the docs and couldn't see a way to bind a key sequence to an alias.  For example, I have a set of URLs that I review every morning.  I'd like to bind Win+M to open the set of URLs.  I have defined an alias that works, but can I bind the key sequence to this alias?

I just installed FARR on a Win 7 SP1 beta (x64) and the WS plugin.  When I try to do a search FARR hangs/crashes.
