Coding Snacks / Drop file to rename it according to list of names
« on: December 22, 2016, 01:17 AM »
Hi all,
How could I do the following?
I have a folder with files and a text file with a list of names (actually it's a spreadsheet with two columns)
What I'd want to do is to drag and drop each file to a listbox so it gets renamed

General Software Discussion / Dropbox alternatives
« on: September 07, 2016, 07:16 AM »
Dropbox has dropped XP support and it will be discontinuing the ability to render HTML content in-browser via shared links or Public Folder.

Do you know some alternative which supports xp and works the same as dropbox, that is, drop files on your public folder, direct links following the same path as your folder (no encryption nor redirecting to webpages), html5 files Rendering on browsers..

Hi. Is there some software to create a site from an existing database? It would inspect your database and automatically create pages, user interfaces, administration forms, multiadministration rights, file uploaders, etc.

General Software Discussion / Magazine creator
« on: December 31, 2015, 04:47 AM »
Hi
Is there any software to make magazines automatically out of text files? I was thinking of those rss readers that beautify the format to make it more readable. Does exist something like that to make magazines easily? Say you have a txt,doc file with a bunch of text and images more or less formatted. It would be nice an application to take that mess and make a readable thing.

Post New Requests Here / Forum posts added to rss by hand
« on: February 03, 2015, 06:47 AM »
Idea to update a rss file manually adding only forum posts that you find interesting.
This tool would capture the url you'd send to the clipboard and update the rss file in your hard drive to share by dropbox.

Post New Requests Here / customizable gui for cli apps
« on: November 05, 2014, 06:31 PM »
Hi
I thought the following tool could be handy, a customizable layout system to manage cmd based programs.
It could be useful for people who suffer panic when using commandline little programs with many options difficult to remember, or in case that you need to process a file with different programs one after the other.
It would allow different layouts, comboboxes for the cmd options, buttons, flow designer for a row of tasks performed by different tools..
Going further some of these panel regions could be used to start/embed external programs which have their own gui, for example paintbrush.

Post New Requests Here / Check updated sites in google bookmarks
« on: June 10, 2014, 06:00 PM »
I think this tool could be useful, it would get the html file result of exporting your google bookmarks and check the last time every page was updated, writing the corresponding date stamp next to every link

Post New Requests Here / window region to full-screen mode
« on: May 22, 2014, 03:44 AM »
The idea is an application that let you select a rectangular region within any window (as in software to capture screenshots) and put it on video mode enlarging/scaling it to fit the full screen, this would be useful for games or emulators which are only in window mode or display a reduced size of window.

DC Gamer Club / Captain Drexx - 8 bit tower defense game
« on: March 06, 2014, 01:37 PM »
Hi
I'm curious to know your opinion about the first tower defense game for the ZX Spectrum, the 8-bit computer from when I was about ten years old.
Any comments, suggestions ? I think this game is a work in progress until the end of march.
This is the game site:

And you can play the pc version downloading this package :

You can even vote on the contest called Retro Games Battle in which the game participates :

Post New Requests Here / IDEA: Folder name to html database
« on: December 04, 2013, 10:29 PM »
Hi!
This is my request for a document catalog creator. Say you have a folder in your pc with folders whose names contain any words separated by delimiters, for example : 2013--BarmyGames--Barmy-Pacman--Commodore64
there could be any tag between the -- delimiter, the idea is that a script parses the folders' names and creates a webpage with a combobox whose items are the name terms found between delimiters, it would be a kind of simple database with restricted search entries given by the combobox, if one selected 2013 in the combobox then only the folders with that tag in their name would be displayed, the same with the other tags. You could select a few tags in diferent comboboxes (2 or 3 would suffice) for a multicriteria search. The page would show links to these folders, and if the user clicked one of these links, the list of links to the files within that directory would be displayed. I had in mind to maintain a catalog for games this way, running such a script regularly and then synchronize this html catalog to dropbox.

General Software Discussion / Embedding external files into PDF file
« on: February 18, 2013, 04:20 AM »
One can include links to external files in pdfs, but most readers will block execution due to security reasons.
An exception is the TexWorks pdf viewer that comes with MikTeX.
Does anyone know some way to avoid these restrictions or another document formats to create this sort of dynamic books ?

DC Gamer Club / Donationware game shops
« on: January 25, 2013, 04:10 AM »
Do you know some donationware shop for games which shares revenue with developers ?
A shop with freeware games and a donation option: XX% go to the shop and the other XX% to the developers... is there any?

Coding Snacks / Alt+Tab on the bottom left corner
« on: November 21, 2012, 06:55 AM »
This follows the idea of Skrommel's AltEdge
but instead of showing the Alt-Tab menu when the mouse is on the left edge of the screen,
it would show a listview with the name and icon of every app,
besides i'd like the left bottom corner instead of the entire left edge.

BTW other nice apps by Skrommel are SmallMeasure and DetachVideo

Finished Programs / SOLVED: slideshow for toddlers
« on: January 10, 2011, 02:11 PM »
This program would be useful to help my nephew learn to talk :)
User selects folder where images and sounds reside; each sound associated with its image; support not only for images but also for animated gifs or videos; allows to put text for every slide; possibility of exporting as exe, scr or dvd slideshow(to avoid pc)
