Living Room / Re: Ars Technica on the problem with adblocking
« on: March 28, 2010, 11:13 PM »
As well as adBlock, there are other ways to allow text/pic ads, limiting Flash, Javascript, GIF repeats and popups, at least in firefox, for viewing or printing or safety or bandwidth. eg:
  • Aardvark - erase page elements
  • Ghostery - deletes beacons, tracing
  • RequestPolicy - disallow off-site requests
  • NoScript - disallow java, javascript, flash
  • BetterPrivacy - control flash cookies
  • CS Lite - control cookies
  • Targeted Advertising Cookie Optout

View Dependencies is nice to diagnose off-site requests

I have the solution! The ad-blockers should download the ads, pleasing the site, and not display them, pleasing the viewer!

Marvellous time tracking utility for computer users. It really answers the question, "What did I do today?"

Some suggestions, should you care to do a little more work,
  • For add a comment, have a drop down box with a list of the most recently used comments
  • If you implement the drop box, place the Add Comment window at the top left of the screen so there is max room for display of previous Comments

Marvellous, marvellous! :D :-*

Very useful.   :-*
One suggestion: How about capturing which programs have which active hot keys, by having the program capture this whenever programs come to the fore, eg, by a delta with previous active keys. Put the program path in a new column, "Path", but if there is already an entry in "Path", then create a new entry for the key(s) with the new Path filled. This would be in addition to the Notes.
This would naturally be incomplete, as current apps will shadow new apps, but over time, could approach a complete picture.
