Yeah, you have to sideload .apks though, and some phones don't even allow you to do that.

Pretty cool - I actually like fSekrit better because it saves it as an executable. It doesn't allow formatting, but not needing anything to decrypt puts it over for me. Any way you could incorporate something like that?

Anyway, I just learned about Zorin OS, and I think I'm going to check it out soon. It's Ubuntu-based, but has included features to make it easy to transition from Windows, such as handling Windows .exe or .msi files/installers (probably with Wine).

Thanks! I'm going to try it on my old laptop that I'm trying to get up and running.

Screenshot Captor / Re: Security issue with cloud access
« on: September 23, 2025, 08:28 PM »
Sounds like that's the screenshot photo and it's probably pointing to your onedrive folder because you've said backup my documents in onedrive. I know, because onedrive did that to me too.

You can change it in the options - it's pointed to %MyDocuments%\ScreenshotCaptor\Screenshots by default in Saving and Loading Files. There's also a place to add folders for the right-click options under My Favorites.

I was hesitant to update to windows 11, but once my work did it on my work laptop, I started on my other machines. It's not that bad, in all honesty. Using Start 10 and DOpus and it's not really been a change.

Thanks! I didn't know it had been merged into the main plugin SDK- I thought it was still unmerged.

Does anyone happen to have a copy of this lying around?

Ok, then I am appealing to mouser on this.
Mouser can you please take note and force-change his irreverant picture of the Man Jesus Christ.
If he disrespected Him, it is worse than disrespecting my own mother or father.
He has stated that he will not change it.
He has disrespected God Himself, Jesus the Son, Christianity, Islam and any other person who holds Christ in high regard.
Thank you,
Jim Kinsman

It's been like this forever. And bringing to the forefront religion and making it a sticking point in a forum related to software seems very much not in the spirit of the forum, or dare I say it, Christ in general. I'm a Christian also, and it in no way offends me. God gave free will, and the trappings of material pride seem in no way related to His will for us to express that in whatever fashion we want and to come to Him or not on our own terms.

I haven't had any problems either, and many of them are in day to day rotation (screenshot captor, FARR, ESR). Not sure where the concerns are coming from.

I don't know if it will help, but power BI has a Quickbooks connector that you can use to import the data and manipulate/report on it- you might be able to get something that will allow you to use for reporting for audit.

Also, can you export quickbooks to a format that would let you back it up, then if you do get audited, get a sub at the time and re-import it?

Do you mean the quality of the code? The LLMs themselves? or am I missing something
-KynloStephen66515 (August 02, 2024, 02:45 PM)

Any example I've seen so far seems to be a garbage answer, unusable or totally unfit to what it's supposed to be tailored to. I'll wait and see what's left after the dust of this hype settles

Not sure what you use. We use Copilot at work and it's been a wonder. It helps me not have to do scut work, and I use it in place of going to stack overflow also.

What I use it for:

Algorithms that I know but would have to look up the implementation.
Spotting inefficiencies in code
Unit Tests
Documentation
Explaining new or under documented code
Scaffolding new classes and POCO/Entities from examples
Generating test data

It really takes a lot of scut work out, and lets me concentrate on other work.

I also use one that's linked to our documentation to help take the load off of us having to do support for the API. We have the documentation, but putting it into a format that everyone can find what they're looking for (or even wants to find what they're looking for) is a challenge. Having them ask their question, and being able to link them to documentation/logs has really cut down on our support queues.

Two of the main problems with "AI coding assistants" - whether they claim to be able to write a complete application or simply complete variable names based on what they boozed up on the internet last night - are these:

  • They violate licences. There are many examples (and probably a large number of unreported cases) of parts of code copied verbatim that were under a clear licence, but that clear licence is not part of what was copied.
  • They are writing rubbish. A work colleague likes to have work supposedly done by ChatGPT. I would need the time he needs to iron out the worst mistakes in the result to simply write what he wanted to achieve myself. Incidentally, this does not seem to be a ChatGPT-specific problem.

And I'm not even taking into account the mental embarrassment I would personally experience were I to be degraded from a developer to a supplicant to the computer...

Incorrect. Github Copilot is set to filter out code that uses public sources- it's basing it on context within the app. I asked it for a particular algorithm, and had to massage the prompt because the code was getting filtered out.

If you need to explain how the algorithm is supposed to work en detail, wouldn’t it be easier to just write the algorithm yourself either way?

You don't really have to explain in detail, depending on the context and what you're trying to get. In one case, I just couldn't remember the type of algorithm I needed, and gave it a general idea of what I wanted to do (b-tree sort without modification or recursion) and it gave me that I wanted the Morris Traversal, and an example.

We are migrating/upgrading the server so prepare for a bit of downtime.
The server OS and CPANEL install have reached end of service so we need to upgrade the OS, and it's a bit of work.
Crossed fingers it will all go smoothly!

I need to do the same, but I keep putting it off.

Unfortunately, Circle Dock is abandonware. The person that supported it fervently wasn't even the developer, and even he has not been online in a while.

Circle Dock was supported by a user sgtevmckay on DonationCoder and they were provided space to host it. They have not been to the site since November 25, 2017, 05:59 PM. I wouldn't expect much in the way of support.

I think the big thing that people were talking about was that cloud syncs worked right now.

By all accounts on ProtonDB, Halo: The Master Chief Collection works just fine despite being ranked as Unsupported, with the caveat that the game's Easy Anti-Cheat doesn't work on Deck/Linux and therefore online multiplayer doesn't work.

Thanks for this! I'd wanted to get it, but passed when I saw unsupported.

I just remembered that I did have to boot into Desktop mode and delete an EAC-related file before it would work, but other than that I didn't need to set any custom compatibility options or do other tinkering:

For the game to work at all, you need to move or remove this file: "steamapps/common/Halo The Master Chief Collection/easyanticheat/easyanticheat_x64.so" Then launch using the "Play Halo: MCC Anti-Cheat Disabled (Mods and Limited Services)" option.

FYI Halo: MCC has been upgraded from Unsupported to Playable.

Thanks! And don't know if you've seen this:

The only emulation I was involved with is for Arcade games - I never got into console emulation, so it's interesting to see.

I installed CryoUtilities mostly to get better performance with emulation than with Steam games, which seems to have helped.

I haven't done any emulation. What kind of emulated games are you running?
