Because flat-file storage for a blog is ridiculous.
Imagine the search procedure. Imagine the file size. Don't forget the server load.

Large code parts are derived from WordPress, am I right here?

(Oh, and have fun searching for certain strings there.)

1979
People who can't afford hosting with a DB are granted free access to WordPress.com, so what?

Storing a (probably) high amount of postings, comments and trackbacks (?) in text files?
Poor server...

Still waiting for freeCommander 2010 BTW... looks promising.

I use MiniTask as my task management, so "categories" are not really available, it is more like "headlines".

Tasks related to a (yet to finish) application I have been developing are put under the name of the application, I also have some "work", some "blog" and similar headlines. Well enough for me, currently having 23 tasks in there. :)

I really don't get why the Americans, the pioneers of sex, drugs and rock'n'roll, try to force avoiding "four-letter words" at all... now don't mention "children safety" or something; I mean, hey, war is great, but don't even DARE to say "fuck"? WTF!

Depends on what software you already have. ;)

Also ESET's post-2.x GUI is awful. But it still has the best heuristics on the market AFAICS.

found nothing suitable (lot of wget related scripts).
-fenixproductions (September 13, 2010, 05:47 PM)
As some of us here  :D also have wget.exe, maybe you could provide some of those wget-related scripts, so we could mash up something on our own?

Damn, I missed the PA Free. Although I had tested the latest "Full" version a few weeks ago and wasn't too impressed ...

Stability versus overall speed here.

Yep, UE is sluggish ...

CE has some weird GUI issues, though, like losing the alignment settings sometimes.
Following its development anyway.

Living Room / Re: Does Flash or java make websites suck?
« on: September 12, 2010, 09:08 AM »
Websites which don't have to tell me anything without me having Flash or Java enabled are not worth a click.
I neither have Java nor Flash plug-ins installed, I just don't need them on teh interwebz.

IMO they totally missed the point of Hypertext Markup language when they invented HTML5...

Living Room / Re: What are your favorite RSS Feeds?
« on: September 02, 2010, 04:27 PM »
I have a quite long list of feeds... RSSOwl screenie:

Most of them are in German, though. My favorites right now are The Oatmeal (nerd jokes  :D), the FAIL Blog (just for the lolz) and Fefes Blog (because I like political conspiration theories). Some things like Daily Garfield and xkcd.com are saved as my start pages, so I don't have them as RSS... saves some space.

If anyone is actually interested, here's the OPML file:

Well, yep. I, for example, am a lifetime customer of some without having paid for a very, very long period.  :D

I switched from PowerArchiver to WinRAR when it became payware until I found 7-Zip some years ago.
Sticking with .7z (LZMA2 is fine) for most purposes, rather exotic file types are handled by IZArc (yes, I still do work with .ace archives every now and then).

Although I'm quite sure that PAQ8 is still the strongest compression algorithm, it lacks speed. Would probably prefer it to .7z else.
