General Software Discussion / Re: Firefox 4.0 Beta 1
« on: July 08, 2010, 05:45 PM »
Does anyone here have a clue how to register a service in Fx4? They somehow broke API compliance, so ...

But I actually like the new Firefox. It only lacks a button to remove that ugly app button, so I had to do it manually.
("Tabs on top" was the first thing I disabled.)

The day they made it commercial was the day they lost me as a user. It was great, but not worth a cent.

Politics (noun) - Poly from Latin, meaning "many"
Nope, it's Greek.

Government Reform, if not already in the list of oxymorons, is my candidate.
Something with "morons" is my first thought, too, when thinking about the U.S. politics.

De nada.  8)
Just stumbled upon it and thought it could be a valid alternative.

Users speaking German might also want to try Expicula which looks promising indeed.  :)

2032
I wouldn't let you either.  :D

ac'tivAid has an extension ("MultiClipboard") which does that.

In case nobody noticed the latest release of the world's best file manager  :)
Of course I have!

I am a Windows and Debian Linux user. Both of them have their own advantages. But I don't really get what's with Mac OS X. The user interface? Not really.

2036
Maybe it would be worth the effort to give the alternatives a try.  8)

Except 2), x² provides the same values.  8)
(I'm sure there are a lot of explorer extensions which add that functionality anyway.)

I would probably use DO, too, but, besides its memory consumption and the GUI (somehow it all feels too big for me), it is simply too expensive, so I'll gladly stick with my x² lifetime license. (Although XY is becoming better with every release, but one is enough for me.)

2038
Neither x² nor XY are "rather like DO"; that's why they are actually used by, at least, me.  :)

Living Room / Re: The conflict of interest that is Google

I'm not sure what you're asking here. AdWords is where Google makes it's big money.
Wasn't it the combination of AdSense and Analytics (which is actually not even legal in some countries but no-one really cares)?

Now daSHiZZLE has an interesting view on us, I guess.  :) ;D

He's very resistant to criticism, even when it's intended to be constructive, because he has his own vision of what his program should be, and won't be swayed from it.
-CWuestefeld (May 04, 2010, 12:34 PM)
Which is not actually bad, as it avoids XY to become bloatware. So that's why we have the choice when it comes to file managers, right?

2042
Depends. You can disable it.  :D

2043
Why should you need that?

2044
What exactly do you want to refresh?

Morning Coffee seems to have some bugs, the "only on certain weekdays" functionality does not actually work for me.

The funny thing in his letter to Adobe is that you can replace Adobe with Apple and it still works.

Apple's products are 100% proprietary. They are only available from Apple, and Apple has sole authority as to their future enhancement, pricing, etc. While Apple's products are widely available, this does not mean they are open, since they are controlled entirely by Apple and available only from Apple. By almost any definition, OSX is a closed system.

Well...  :D

There's also RssTools. :)

Btw. I've created a wiki for Proto (it's coming slowly...)
... with a shortcut guide. I love you.  :-* (Not literally, but... alright.)

ac'tivAid has a built-in, system-wide hotkey manager, too.  :)
