I also took him to c-base one day. While the other crew wasn't very impressed by Baby Cody's presence (we often deal with all sorts of entities from all sorts of realms and universes), he was quite impressed with the absurd level of nerdiness of the place.


Here he's climbing all over our 3D printer:




Next he had a chat with the alien robots impersonating Star Trek people:



We caught them and put them behind bars. Dark greenish surroundings seem to calm them down. So far, no ((inter-)galactic) agency has claimed responsibility.

On a busy day it is difficult to take pictures without other people on it, and these people usually are very sensitive...

So at last here is Baby Cody after securing a great perch to look down from at all the nerds:

I love how it looks like Baby Cody's eyes are half-closed and the mouth fell open with the head tilted backwards. That's exactly how I was sitting for a while before snapping the picture

First Baby Cody was a little shy, because he had spent so much time at the tailor's family and wasn't used to my appartment any more:



But he was still proud to don the medal again:




Of course he was mighty proud of the c-base logo embroidered to the back of the vest:

Because we were so hungry and it had gotten late we ordered sushi. Baby Cody couldn't wait and was fluttering all over the place!



So we ate and ate and ate and it was still too much. We both fell asleep after stuffing ourselves:

At first glance I'd say: nope, not possible.

But then, there are so many modules for D7, there might just be a combination of several modules that could --with a lot of mouse-clickery-- provide the feature you want. There is one module for content building (ex CCK, now something else but in Drupal core), several ones about search and access control.

However, I suggest you forward that use case to a drupal forum or mailing list. I'd expect you will get much better information there

There are a few books out about Drupal 7 already. The "Pro" series from Apress was very good for D6, I would expect the D7 one to be as good.

Also, look for a local Drupal user group, often you get very good tips and quick help just by asking.

I can give you the contact information of a good (naturally!) web designer who also wrote a Drupal module, if you would need such services.

I recommend Drupal, but people must keep in mind that it is not a blog system. It is designed to be extended, to provide flexibility - therefore it is complex.

You could turn on slow query logging. Then EXPLAIN those slow queries to see if there are missing indices. If they are missing, add them when there is little or no load on the DB.

Then it might help to set up replication, so the reporting tools can select and aggregate whatever they want, without imposing a burden on the so-called live system. However, now you have an even more complex system to maintain...

I have used Jetbrain's PhpStorm at work and I really like it. With regards to PHP I think PhpStormi is by far the best, even more so when it comes to debugging.

If RubyMine is similar then it will be awesome and I strongly recommend it. Jetbrains also offers fully functional trial versions, so there is no risk.

If it weren't for a bloody bug in Sun's JRE, I'd use it more often.

Maybe to protect the privacy of the tailor's family. I don't believe she would do the same for her cats, so it might have been a person.

I had planned to hand over Baby Cody on NYE when gjehle was here in Berlin, but he was still at the tailor's then.

So next he'll go to Stuttgart then, and from there on I don't know. I'll pack some typical German stuff with Baby Cody and maybe gjehle will do the same, so the next foreign recipient has some compensation for the long wait.

There is always vim and the large file plugin

This combination lets me edit massive SQL dumps (4GB) with reasonable comfort. For such huge file it is still far from fast, but way better than not being able to edit the file at all.

With only 35MB you might not need that plugin.

Baby Cody now has a vest! Finally!

The tailor also said she is going to embroider a simplified c-base logo on the vest. But for now, here is how he currently looks:



After the logo is done, I'll pick him up and then we can go on all the adventures I have planned!
