within my preferences, I have nothing bad to say about Blackbird. +There is a recover settings command prompt as well.

Blackbird was just updated to 1.0.5: https://www.getblackbird.net/download/

- but installing it resulted in the blue screen of death:

WARNING: Stopcode: CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED
-my Windows 10
!!!!!!!!!!

Now I cannot enter Windows on my PC, so I cannot "recover settings".

Maybe you should not install 1.0.5

--------

In the end I had to reset my PC, and I then crossed my fingers and installed version 1.0.5 again. This time it's good.

Oh, also, Shift+ESC (in chrome), brings up the Chrome-specific task manager (which shows usage of tabs and extensions).
-Stephen66515 (April 18, 2019, 04:40 AM)

^ thank you! At least this sorted out the excessive CPU usage (Chrome Webshop's "Download Manager" was not good for my setup).

79
Thank you, Stephen66515; I am relieved to hear it's not the entire world, that has been taken over!

... check to see if you haven't been hijacked by a rogue Chrome plugin...
-Stephen66515 (April 18, 2019, 04:16 AM)

I have several times been wondering how to do just that, because my Chrome.exe is using too much CPU for too long, when launched. But in Task Manager all the extensions are also named chrome.exe, so how do I know who is who? And how do I test any of them for anything - other than one by one by one. Oh, that takes Patience! Now, where did she go?

For the last two weeks it has been impossible for my Google Chrome Internet browser to give me trustworthy search results. Today's example: I made a simple search for Britpop. Google said there were 25 billion answers, but only showed me 2 pages. Of these approx 50 results, more than 20 were adverts for something unrelated, like a minor Danish Hotel. I also made a picture search and was even more shocked than usual, how useless and worthless the search results were.

 :mad:

For a fortnight I have been patient. My initial thought was that we must give the various Chrome extension anti-advert authors time to... wait... Who? Time to what? Chrome is owned by Google... so, who am I expecting to solve this problem? Honestly, Google can not be expected to solve this problem, because to them there is no problem! Especially not if the users just accept the new worthlessness. Maybe I am part of a test group? Have YOU been given silly search results from Google lately? Oh, stupid phrasing. New try: Have YOUR Google search results lately been even more unrelated and full of adverts, than they used to?
:tellme:

Both Pathagoras and TypingAid are really fine, it seems. But, hey, the difference in the asking prices!  :o  Let me see, should I pay a fortune, or have the free one?   :-\

$0:
TypingAid https://github.com/ManiacDC/TypingAid could be useful as well, also AutoHotkey, also free.

As you type your word, up to 10 (or as defined in Settings) matches will appear in a drop-down dialog, numbered 1 - 0 (10th). To choose the match you want just hit the associated number on your keyboard (numpad does not work). Alternatively you can select an item from the drop-down using the Up/Down arrows or the mouse. You can define a fixed position for the drop-down dialog to appear by hitting Ctrl-Shift-H to open a small helper window, or by specifying a list of programs in the preferences file.
-TypingAid

At the moment I am using the free & fine AHK script, AutoCorrect, from IainB's post. It's big, so your browser may not answer at first: https://www.autohotk...load/AutoCorrect.ahk

General Software Discussion / Re: Listing the unused
« on: April 01, 2019, 08:05 AM »
no, it really is impossible. The Last Used data includes when every app was last "touched" by the indexer or by the anti malware-tester, or something. So the only way that I know of is the opposite way: There are several apps that can tell you what programs you use most often. The ones you don't use so often..., well, you figure out the rest.

General Software Discussion / HowTo reset to jpg from jfif
« on: April 01, 2019, 07:52 AM »
A number of incidents ($#it) happened and suddenly every downloaded jpg picture would be jfif type! I have never even heard about any jfif format, so I was quite "surprised", to say the least. After some searching, I have a formula to repair such situation:

Start > Search > regedit > Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MIME\Database\Content Type\image/jpeg > rightclick Extension > edit > replace .jfif with .jpg > [Exit]

A quick note on what the application is with the present request: Music Collection Maintenance.

$35 https://www.bolideso...t.com/audiocomparer/

Find and Remove Duplicate Songs Automatically

Audio Comparer is a simple tool that will help you to automatically find and remove duplicate songs in your collection. The program works with Windows Vista/7/8/10 and can compare audio files by their actual sound data. Audio Comparer listens to your audio files and remembers all of them. After that, it compares how they sound and places similar-sounding files into groups where you can select which file you want to delete and which to leave on your hard drive. This way our program can even detect duplicates with wrong or missed tags filled. Also, Audio Comparer is able to detect the same song stored in different audio formats (for example, FLAC and MP3).

General Software Discussion / Re: youtube downloader?

Recently when I search for 'youtube to mp3' for my son, I found https://www.onlinevi...er.com/mp3-converter
The best I must say. No fuss,

Just a minor fuss, but still fuss:

Personally, I use Chrome > Open with... > Firefox 52 > Video Download Helper or 4K or ... €10.00 YouTube Song Downloader from AbelsSoft https://www.abelssof...Tube-Song-Downloader
But of course, that is all too slow for busy people. Guess what, I am not that busy!

Copenhagen interpretation of travel: Is someone out there in no specific location until you see them again?

^ you really lost me there; I simply don't understand the meaning of the sentence! English is a foreign language to me, so please forgive me and explain what you are saying  :tellme:

I have changed the thread's title, because even though it's not bad, the more I work with Easy Explorer, the less surprisingly good it gets.

98
no, ^, I don't think that is similar software. Easy Explorer is a file manager. Extremely simple and fast.

And I am not too sure the authors know any English.

I have done some more modifications to suit my purpose, which was to rename the files to include the folder path it had.
i.e.
root
 a
   1
 b
   1
   2
would become
root
a-1
b-1
b-2

here's the code for it
FlattenWithFolderNames.ahk
fileselectfolder,MyFold,::{20d04fe0-3aea-1069-a2d8-08002b30309d}
SetWorkingDir, %MyFold%
loop, *.*,0,1
{
parentpath := RegExReplace(A_LoopFileDir,"\\","-")
;StringReplace, parentpath, A_LoopFileDir, \,-,All
newname = %parentpath%-%A_LoopFileName%
;msgbox %newname%
If a_loopfiledir <>
filemove, %a_loopfilefullpath%,%newname%
}

loop, %myfold%\*.*,2,1
fileremovedir, %a_loopfilefullpath%,1

exitapp
