LaunchBar Commander / Re: How to add shortcuts?
« on: October 29, 2006, 05:18 AM »
i know the problem - it has to do with windows keeping multiple start menu folders, one for the user, and one for all users.

ok so, here is what you should do:
first, as a temporary measure, create a new folder contents menu in the tree and select "StartMenu" from the drop down folder contents list, instead of "AllStartMenu".

now you will have 2 start menu buttons, which combine to show you what you see on your normal start menu.

then in the coming week or so i will correct the behavior to show all from BOTH the all start menu and user start menu, which i thought i already did.

"which i thought i already did."
- well, maybe you did.
I did not follow the manual 100%; I did not choose StartMenu or AllStartMenu from the drop down folder contents list, but I directed the "Root Folder to Display" to  C:\Documents and Settings\Curt\Menuen Start\Programmer\Tilbehør
- so maybe there is nothing for you to correct (except me)??

LaunchBar Commander / How to add shortcuts?
« on: October 29, 2006, 04:44 AM »
I have started out somewhat carefully, because I really am an IT anaphabet and don't understand IT-English.

This is my first LaunchBar:
MyFirstLaunchBar.jpg
The tree is showing the content of (Win2K) Start > Programs, and Start > Programs > Aux. (:'Tilbehør'), and Start > Programs > Aux > System Tools.

Start > Programs is okay; all the programs are listed.
Start > Programs > Aux. > System Tools, is okay too.
But Start > Programs > Aux is most certainly not okay!

Notice how all these 11 shortcuts are missing from (Win2K) Start > Programs > Aux.:
LauncBar Commander (!!!), PopUp Wisdom (!!), URLSnooper2 (!!), BrowserTraySwitch (!!), MySoftwareFactory (4 programs), ZIPGenius6 (3 programs), GIMP, Paint, Calculator (‘Lommeregner’), Games (‘Spil’) and Communication (Netmeeting, HyperTerminal, etc.).

(As you know, the darker grey (left) is Win, and the lighter (right) is LaunchBarCmd):
Aux_StartProgs.jpg Aux_LaunchBarCmd.jpg
- and, no, they are not listed in ‘Programs’ or 'System Tools' either.

Can I add these shortcuts myself?

Find And Run Robot / Re: Not FARR; show Start>Programs
« on: October 28, 2006, 09:20 PM »
not sure what you mean by having to place it in start

The program did not start with Windows, as I would expect it to, so I am setting a shortcut in Start > Programs > Start - was what I meant.

Otherwise it is working fine, as you can see:

you might benefit from a launch bar tool like...

LaunchBar Commander :)

You are so right. LaunchBar Commander now installed and tested: It is it!!
Thank you!!  :-*

But, ehh - it seems I have to place it in Start, myself??

Find And Run Robot / Not FARR; show Start>Programs
« on: October 28, 2006, 01:51 PM »
I have tried Find&RunRobot for some days, but realized that my memory works better with pictures than with names, saying; I can't remember the name of the program I want to open, but I clearly remember where it is placed. So I removed FARR again, and wonder if you can write a program for Windows that will make all of Start > Programs > Aux. > + 1 or 2 more, display at once??

Those who will use this program may not have FARR, so the Break button should be available :-)

PopUp Wisdom / Re: Poor uninstall
« on: October 27, 2006, 06:41 PM »
Well, I found the mistake myself. I didn't delete the folder when I removed the folder's content, but after reboot I downloaded the new exe to the folder, and made the install from there, inside the folder. This way there were suddenly two files with the same name, PopupWisdom.exe, and that cannot do.

You could prevent such a mistake if you named the download file something like ..setup.exe instead. I would think that is common practise.

PopUp Wisdom / Poor uninstall
« on: October 27, 2006, 12:16 PM »
I had the same problems as spj wrote about September 2005 (VERY nice! ...but) - PopupWisdom would not save the settings, and told me to Press Menu Button, select Preferences and select a book, at every Startup  - but I did not solve it, so I > uninstalled the program (using Unins000.exe), > deleted the rest, > emptied the basket, > rebooted the PC > downloaded a new > tried to install > BUT got the message:
"..file popupwisdom.exe.. Cannot replace the existing file .. DeleteFile failed; code 32 ... the file is being used by another program".  :tellme:

This is the strangest message I can think of in this situation, and I have no idea what to do next. I have all kind of smart programs to help me in different situations, but how do you delete a file that has been removed from the PC??

The program is (of course) not listed in Win2000Pro Add/Remove Programs, nor is popupwisdom to be found in the reg' keys, except MRUs.
