i'm using winXP pro, and i use Netscape v7.2. a couple weeks ago i upgraded
to v8.
1st it no longer has an included email package. then i noticed some strange things happening in games that i hadnt seen before. like they wouldnt play
to make a long story short, i finally uninstalled v8 (it was a stand-alone installation, its own folder and all) so i kept v7 and saw that it worked fine while v8 was installed... well the uninstall seemed to go well until i opened v7 the next time.. something must have been deleted with the uninstall and i dont have a clue as to what it could be.
my homepage was comcast.net. now it freezes and i get the little "error message" box (send report or not). after choosing either button, netscape and all related windows (email) close. the system is ok meaning the PC still works fine, all programs work again, and i dont need to reboot or anything.
but a couple other pages i visit have a similar reaction. major league baseball (mlb.com) and a racing page
(
http://f1.gpupdate.net/en/) also either stop upon loading, or just hang. as if its waiting for something to be recognized.
what appears to be common reaction is all these pages have some advert that is movie like. i thought it was adobe flash.. but the latest (v9) is installed and working.
does Netscape look for as a pluggin? i even reinstalled v7 but no joy. i have not deleted ALL of the netscape sub folders, as i am not sure how to protect my email, saved emails, email addy's etc.... and really dont want to lose them.
i can access all the above pages normally using IE7.... but i prefer using Netscape.
any ideas?
