Thanks for letting me know about this.  I don't know why, but I didn't get any notification.  And just now, I checked for updates and was told I had the most recent version.  But the version of Listary Pro that I have is 3.23, and according to the website, the current version is 3.50.

It's one of the sites I have set up in WebSite-Watcher, which is how I knew.  I occasionally check for Listary updates from its tray icon menu, and as far as I know that's always worked for me.

I checked for updates and was told I had the most recent version.  But the version of Listary Pro that I have is 3.23, and according to the website, the current version is 3.50.
I haven't seen that problem.  I did see another one, of a sort.  I run Listary as portable, even though it's on my HD.  This update treated me as unregistered, so I had to put my registration code in again.  No problem, though I thought that shouldn't have been necessary.

I used to use Website Watcher--indeed, I really liked it for a while.  But I kept running into problems with the way I'd set up a site to be checked, and I finally decided it wasn't worth my time to have to keep trying to figure out what I did wrong each time.   Now RSS feeds take care of some of what I used to use Website Watcher for, and as for the rest....well, I haven't missed all that much.  With Listary, I doubt I'd have tried to set up Website Watcher, since Listary has a "check for updates" feature.  Alas, it seems not to be working.

There are alternatives, e.g. Check&Get, which has had a few mentions on DC.

It seems to work OK for me.  Have you reported it to the author?

Thanks for your mention of Check&Get.  At the moment, I don't feel a strong need to monitor websites except via RSS feeds, but if that changes, I'll definitely have a look.  And no, I haven't reported the Listary problem.  I assumed that the update checker was broken for everyone.  Oh well....  Do you have the free or the Pro version?

Mine's Pro.  Is yours free?  Even if it is, I'd have expected the updates checker to work.  Could your firewall be blocking it from calling home?

Hm, I got the 3.23 version in the GAOTD deal a few months back (couldn't find the link just now) and am a bit reluctant to upgrade, as I wouldn't like to lose the the free Pro features by getting this upgrade :-[

Up to you, but it's not very expensive.  Speaking of which, I just missed Amazon UK's Black Friday deal on Photoshop Elements 10

[Edit at UK time 2011-11-25, 22:38:-]  Well, I caught the Elements deal today, on the rebound  :)  But that doesn't clear up the puzzle about Listary apparently failing to show its updates  :(  [/Edit]

No, mine's Pro as well.  And I'm pretty sure the Windows Firewall doesn't block anything from calling home.  :tellme:  I just checked with Listary again and it still insists I have the most recent version.  I have 3.23.

Same with mine (Pro). On seeing rjbull's message, when Listary said the previous version was up to date I went and fetched 3.5 directly from the site (Thanks rjbull!)

Hello guys,

Sorry for any inconvenience. The updater doesn't work because I haven't used it to promote the new version yet. 3.50 is a stable version, but there are still tons of new features to add. I keep releasing a new version every two or three days recently and don't want to bother you guys with the "new version" dialog.

Please don't hesitate to post here or contact with me at [email protected] if you find some bugs or have any suggestions for the new version.

I bought and started using Listary Pro a few weeks ago and love it.  I emailed them with a couple of questions and Channing was very prompt with answers.

For those that haven't been to the site in a while there is now a forum/discussions under the support section.  I believe it started a few weeks ago.  There aren't many topics yet but I'm sure there will be over time.

Listary Disussions

Thought I'd pass it along.
