just to clarify, you will have to enter your credit/debit card info before completing the purchase, and game time is acquired by monthly recurring subscription fee.

It looks like European customers get it for €5 instead of free, but that includes 30 days of gametime.

RIFT goes free to play-ish

RIFT Lite lets you play for free up to level 20, with no charge or time limit. this looks like more of an extended trial as WoW did recently. i doubt much can be done at level 20, though.
