Mesh Editor (Text / Code Editor)
« on: January 29, 2020, 02:51 PM »
Hello everyone!

I recently started developing a program that I would like to consider a better notepad alternative, since it offers much more and still keeps everything minimal and lightweight.

Mesh Editor has built-in syntax highlighting for the following programming languages:

  • CSharp
  • HTML
  • JSON
  • Javascript
  • Lua
  • PHP
  • SQL
  • Visual Basic
  • XML

The program can open multiple tabs at a time. In addition, there is also a Folder View which allows the user to load a whole folder and display it as a list.

Features that are currently being worked on:
  • Smart Clipboard
  • Dark / Black Theme
  • Increase customization
  • Automatic updates

My relationship with the project: Developer
Website: Official Website

Any kind of feedback will be appreciated.

Where has the website gone?

It was behind a .tk domain. If I remember correctly, that country took back control of their .tk extension from the registrar that used to manage it. Not only cranked up prices, but a need for residency as well.

Domain provider 'FreeNom' used to hand out domains with .tk extension for free. They don't do that anymore, as there was much abuse/spam/malware being spread from domains that were managed by the FreeNom registrar. The internet can't have nice things, apparently.

And, to be more on point regarding text editors:
There is Zed. AI helper included. And a lot of other features that may prove to be very useful for projects that involve more than one developer. Available for free on Linux and MacOS. They seem to be working on a Windows version as well, They do provide the source and instructions to build it yourself on Windows. The creators from the text editor 'Atom' are behind this project.

Ah well, if an "AI helper" was the most interesting part of a text editor  :P , GNU Emacs can use LLaMA (see the screencasts!) for whatever you want to throw at it.  :D Zed looks nice, but its features have not convinced me, last time I checked. But you know, the grass on the other side of the fence...

I haven't tried it out yet, but I found Windows builds of Zed here:
