You could download the Windows XP SP3 ISO, burn it and then install fresh from that.

Definitely grab the SP3 ISO because installing Vanilla SP2 and updating to SP3 has been known to cause some problems.

i'd forget about the nLited method. i've had strange problems in the past doing things that way.

better to spend another day getting it right, without cutting corners. oh, and to keep double checking that it really is working before you install all the usual programs.

i think you'll find the common advice around here is to make a backup of the fresh o/s install, and then make several afterwards as you install (and check) more to it. it's going to save time and stress in the long run.
