Pop-up Stock Alert
« on: December 06, 2008, 04:40 PM »
Hi,
I'm just wondering if there is a way to set a pop-up alert on a stock with a software tool.  For instance, if I want to follow Amazon (stock symbol: AMZN), would it be possible to have an alert when the price of the stock crosses, let's say 50$?  For ex., I could be doing other things, and the alert could "look" into a certain field in a standalone application, and pop-up whenever the price of the stock crosses a certain threshold. Then, I would be able to react to the alert.

Is that feasible?

Thanks for any help!
 :)

Thanks for the link, Curt.

I know about that kind of softwares, but I was looking for something much simpler (no charts, no news, no "symbol lookup", etc.)

In fact, here is what I am seeking:

I enter a stock in Calc (Open Office version of Excel), and through some sort of macro, I can retrieve a stock price cross-over.
When that cross-over has been triggered, a pop-up alerts me!

That's all!  (Yet, it may not be so simple to make!)
