I actually like running eclipse+vrapper+vimplugin together so far. I guess it goes against the grain little bit but feels good :)

Has anyone tried this one?

http://eclim.sourceforge.net/
Might be a bit late, but:
Yep. And I love it. Never ever have to start that sluggish eclipse crap again since its functionality is integrated into my beloved Vim now.  :-*

Umm, doesn't eclim work by communicating with a started eclipse instance? :)

Depends on how you use it.  ;D
If you use it with eclimd, not necessarily, as it seamlessly starts a "hidden" eclipse without all that GUI crap...
OK, my description was too blurred.

Any software, when only used at the basic level, will never give you an understanding of the software's worth.

I'm quoting this to make your point stand out. That is so true. There have been programs that I have used at the basic level that were capable of so much more and this has a two-fold effect of one, tasks are going take longer wasting time that could be better spent elsewhere; and two, knowing that I'm not using a program to its full advantage imparts a sense of frustration & if the program cost money causes feelings of anger towards myself as I feel like I'm not getting my money's worth because I haven't taken the time to learn the intricacies of what I bought.
