Screenshot Captor / Re: Shortcuts not working with external keyboard

We need a little more technical information, as currently, any reply is a stab in the dark:
- Make & model notebook?
- Windows version/build & update level?
- Make & model docking station?
- Make & model external keyboard?
- Any particular cable/wiring setup?

Screenshot Captor / Re: Color Picker

Currently, the only way I see is in the right-bottom of ScreenshotCaptor where the hex color code is displayed, but that's not a color picker, of course.

I see it every time I refresh the page, only now and then I have to tick the checkbox to continue.

Maybe it is because there's still a huge number of guests online.
Between 500 and 1500 guests is quite usual, for this forum, as I've observed over the last 10+ years. Once it goes over 10000 it seems to be problematic for performance.

Well, the check will be visible until the DDOS protection is turned off again.

This was also the case, the previous time the site returned from the cloud-flare DDOS protection shield, we had the past weeks. Looks much like a DNS issue, probably still pointing to the protection server that's no longer in use :-\

General Software Discussion / Re: Problem auto-typing into Notepad??
« Last post by Ath on January 31, 2025, 04:25 PM »
has Microsoft done something bad to Notepad, of all things?

Well, starting with Windows 11 they for sure broke Windows Explorer, so why not notepad... :o

AFAICS, they let some new interns, probably all younger than Windows 7, rewrite both Explorer and Notepad, and dumped the first alpha on the general public. NB: I've refrained from using Notepad for many years, as it's totally useless compared to any alternative available.

PBOL / Re: problem with PBOL
« Last post by Ath on January 13, 2025, 04:23 PM »
Are those P: and O: drives local on your computer, or mapped to some network drive like a NAS and connected/available after PBOL has loaded?

placing the inis a system folder may help.
Have you tried this useful suggestion already? Or at least place the ini file, and the software, on your boot-drive (something like C:\Pbol would be a good choice).

Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: What are Mouser plan for this tool?
« Last post by Ath on October 16, 2024, 04:40 PM »
I don't know (as I'm still on Windows 10) -- have there been problems with mouser's software on Windows 11 ?

Not with ScreenshotCaptor (used nearly daily) or any of the other tools, in ~2.5 years since I'm using Win11 (new laptop came with Win11).

In the Preferences screen, there's a page full of 'Post capture options' to choose from. Most likely you've set one of the options there that's causing this behavior, maybe a Commandline tool?

I have replaced them, on multiple M705, but only mediocre quality switches I could find on the interwebz, so, 6 months later the issue was back, and I couldn't find the motivation to replace them again

hoping that the modern "gaming" mice will be more resistant.
After years of using Logitech M705 mice, where newer editions started double-clicking when not intended because of poor switches, I've since then bought the Razer Basilisk X, and that has proven to be of better quality, and still big enough for my not so small hands, but not as bulky and pricey as the Logitech MX Master. Another reason not to choose Logitech again was several reports of their sometimes poor quality from other ppl (colleagues, forum, tech-news).

Which assistants have you tried
-KynloStephen66515 (August 02, 2024, 04:50 PM)
None, opinion based on the crappy 'examples' / 'answers' that ppl posted in (another) forum.

Basically, I'm sitting out the storm, to see what eventually rolls out without the world crumbling to pieces. (Must be related to my age/experience and somewhat conservative approach to 'the latest hype') :)

Do you mean the quality of the code? The LLMs themselves? or am I missing something
-KynloStephen66515 (August 02, 2024, 02:45 PM)

Any example I've seen so far seems to be a garbage answer, unusable or totally unfit to what it's supposed to be tailored to. I'll wait and see what's left after the dust of this hype settles

As a nearly fulltime Windows user (software developer), I never have to deal with locked files, so I'm quite curious what you do that you need such tool?

You can just grab the toolbar with the mouse pointer, and drag it to where you want it. That's probably also how it got there where it is now... ;)

Screenshot Captor / Re: Overexposed Screenshot
« Last post by Ath on July 19, 2024, 02:09 PM »
This type of odd behavior has been caused by graphics card driver issues, in the past. General solution was to update to the latest available WHQL certified driver to get rid of the deformations.

NB: No need to cross-post in multiple sections of the forum, Mouser has it all covered, though he seems to be busy on other projects lately.

Wouldn't that all be fixed by handling strings as Unicode? Because stripping 'non-ascii' from titles would mean significant information being removed from these titles
