General Software Discussion / MSD Organizer (free version)
« Last post by surftwo on May 24, 2008, 03:30 AM »
This is certainly 2 years late.  It should have gone in the mini review on Note taking software but that wasn't my review.
But I found a great and free Personal Imformation manager. <a href="http://www.msdsoft.com/eng/download.htm">MSD</a> is it's name and it has tons of features for free.  The program is layed out with modules which can be opened from the toolbar.

The included modules are a calendar, contact list, task list, card file, diary, property, health, budget and a music list.
I would compare this to some shareware software of this type that cost 50 to 100 dollars.  Really is a nice program for free.

Web fourm reader lite

So we all like the Donation Coder fourm.......so why not be able to read it off-line.  Now you can with <a href="http://www.chemtable...m/WebForumReader.htm">Web-Fourm Reader LIte</a>

Nice program which allows you to read fourms off-line just set it up and off you go.  Has the ability to syncronize multiple or all of the topics with-in a fourm.

My favorite file re-namer.  It's got to be File Re namer Basic.  Get it at <a href="http://www.sherrodco...ucts_filerenamer.cfm">File Re namer Basic</a>

It's got ton's of features like a explorer interface, and fast scanning of folders.  It finds the files for you all you have to do is click on a folder and scan.  Files are displayed in the right pane.

My favorite feature is the ability to select just the files you want to rename, with just a click of a button.  You can select all files in a folder or just a few.

Other features include list or thumbnail view.  Can add a prefix or suffix, custom file extension and numbering.  It also has a file history option and a undo feature.

Here's a screen shot

General Software Discussion / Caligari Truespace 3.2.........free
« Last post by surftwo on March 31, 2008, 10:28 PM »
Yes you all heard that right .  Caligari Truespace 3.2 is now free.  It's a 10 year old program but still has great features.
It's a real nice 3-D modeling and CAD program.  Sort of like Bryce 5....etc.

One of the great feature's it has is the lathe tool it lets you draw a helix from a shape.  Neat.......

If you want to give it a try go here........http://www.download....87286.html?tag=lst-1

It's also only a 20 mb download.

An alternative is to use a file manager like Frigate it list's recent files.

Big subject here.......there are so many that I like.  To start with I guess it would be Direct foldershttp://www.codesecto...om/directfolders.php.  It add a left click menu which you can add folders to.  Also let's you add program shortcuts.  And there is a free version.
For the web I like http://windowseat.ca/viscosity/  It draws modern in a strange way need to see it to believe it.

Here's one it's my menu and the Config dialog . by the way it doesn't replace the right shortcut menu.  It adds a left click menu that you can customize with links to folder's and programs or files.  It also contains a history list. Great free program.
