General Software Discussion / Re: Kinship diagrams (and genealogy)

The Master Genealogist and Legacy are the two best IMO.  There are a lot of genealogy programs out there, but very few for the proffessional genealogist.  I suggest taking some time to check out some review sites before making a purchase.  GenoPro looks like it is useful for diagramming relationships, but it falls far short of a proffessional genealogy program.

Why don't you take it to the shop before it starts to corrode?

Jeff,

I'm very sorry to hear of your loss.  Thank you for sharing.  I pray that you will find comfort in God and that He will bless and strengthen you during your time of grief.

Assembler will not go away as it is the foundation of all other languages.  In fact, interest in assembly programming is on the rise as indicated by the number of web sites devoted to it.

Amazing.

It makes you wonder how many people are getting ripped off in similar situations.

The only one I've used is Mavis Beacon and I highly recommend it.

There seems to be some who believe that it is ok to steal as long as you can get away with it and you 'feel' that you have a right to have the stolen item.  If you carry this to it's logical conclusion then, it is ok to steal anything under the same pretense.  A car, house, or the money out of the bank teller's drawer.  Take it a little further, and you can rationalize murder.  Where does it stop?  It's either wrong or it isn't, no matter what the object.

This is exactly why software piracy is such a thriving business.

No, software piracy thrives because the pirates are thieves.  I don't like high prices either, but we don't have a 'right' to low cost software.  The prices will be as high as the market will bear.

In the US, our Supreme Court just passed a ruling that allows the police to break down your doors unannounced.

If this is what I'm thinking of, the ruling was that law enforcement doesn't have to knock when serving a warrent.

I use:

http://www.pdf995.com/

Though a bit clunky, it has some nice features.

I've used quicken for many years and must say that it is a great product.  There are a few negatives, such as hiding the built-in categories that I don't use.  You can, by the way, search for transactions with a blank category by entering a space.

Classes add an additional dimension to categories.  I don't use them myself as I have no need, but it would be simple to set up classes for home and business and easily be able to separate the two on reports and so on.
