General Software Discussion / Re: Latest MS updates borks WinXP?
« Last post by vmcclintock on August 16, 2007, 12:03 PM »
Borked?  So much nicer than "hosed" and all the really bad words I've been saying this morning.   Fortunately, I don't allow Windows to update or install automatically, but then I'm not technically savvy enough to determine the possible repercussions of the various updates.  So, I let the update run and install on both of my puters this morning...one a laptop running XP Pro, a newish thinkpad.  That one is fine so far, with no problems.  But my desktop running XP home is all screwed up...So far I have isolated and had to change ALL of my security settings, and have found that Excel in Office XP will no longer function.   Still trying to fix that.

Thanks for the thread and all the valuable info!

I love Lifehacker.  Read the feed whenever something new pops up, and visit several times a week!
