To do what Tinjaw?

I must admit, I'm the same way as you Carol.  I have a paid subscription, but it feels like a non-paid subscription with all of the ads.  When Brian Livingston first started (I didn't know about Langalist) he was the same way- I guess becoming larger meant they had to find another revenue stream.  These days there's less 'secrets' and more general news that you can find anywhere.

When I say ping, I don't mean your ping, I mean the server's ping.  What I mean by that, is on the select server screen, there should be a column with ping (i think that's what it's called) that should have a number.  What does this say?  And does this happen no matter what BF2 server you're connected to?

For more information on what column I mean, look at this screenshot of the server selection screen:
http://img243.images...mg243/3112/pbwk0.jpg

Also, other questions to speed up troubleshooting:  Are you connected directly to your modem, or is there a router in the way?  Is it laggy all the time, or does it just happen at certain times?

Living Room / Re: How many people work from home?
« Last post by wraith808 on April 24, 2008, 03:48 PM »
I work all the time from everywhere  :(  Basically I freelance for one big corporate client at a time, and have side work that I'm building up... it's hard though.  But I look at people that have done it, and it gives me the inspiration to keep trying!

1. Does it matter what server you connect to?
2. What's your ping in the server list?

If your ping is low, and it's consistently a problem no matter what server you connect to, I'd say your problem is on your end... what other software do you have running?

It should actually work... I tested it with DriveHQ quite a bit...

Under FTP Server, these should be the settings:
Host Name: ftp.DriveHQ.com
Remote Directory: /mydir/
username: signonname
password: password

Under SMTP Server, the settings should be:
Host Name: mailserver addy
Username/Password: Not needed unless sending to another server, in that case it would be the username/password for the SMTP server.
E-mail address: address to send to
E-mail subject: whatever you want

^Sorry.  I guess that would be a different app... backupftp or something like that.

But for the rest, I finally got around to doing some more coding on this app, so I present AutoFTP v 1.0.1

http://wraith808.com...v101_2008-04-19a.zip

Changes:
Supports Passive FTP.
Removed RAS.
Supports deleting files after transfer.
SMTP is Asynchronous.
Added space for SMTP Auth.
Added a more verbose logfile mode.

Planned changes:
Make FTP Asynchronous.
Add option to save verbose logfile locally.
Add option to cancel operation in progress.

I fixed it, so no problems.  I added a few features also while I was at it, and cleaned up the interface a bit.  I'll be doing a bit more with it, but let me know how it works for you!

Can you uninstall both and reinstall?  Or is this not an option?  You might also want to check on the firefox forums... the gurus there would most likely be able to help...

Steven-

I'm having some interesting issues... LOL!  I have a version that works with DriveHQ... the only problem is the way I'm having to manipulate the sockets is working havoc with the e-mail function.  I can disable the e-mail function and send it to you to look at if you wish while I get everything else nailed down... just let me know!

Isn't really amazing that no matter how random a mention is on a blog, it will be replicated on another blog within a day? ;)

Well, a few seconds later I figured that one out, but now DriveHQ is timing out when I try to transfer anything... no more tonight, but I'll try to get to it again tomorrow.

I haven't forgotten about you... I am looking at it.  It was not sending in passive mode, so I changed that, but I'm still getting the same error, even in passive mode. *sigh*

wow, you remind me years ago when I liked this dl manager
it seems abandoned from 2002

Pretty close to it.  I was able to get a reg code when I finally registered it, but it took a while- and *no* answers from the developers.  But it works, and works well...

If I remember correctly, it does run in passive mode, but I'll check once I get home and let you know.  And thanks for the comments!

I'm not sure if AutoFTP will help you, but this is what it was made for.  I didn't build it with a scheduler, because the windows scheduler was so robust that it seemed like a duplication of work... If you can't find one with a scheduler, you might want to take a look at it.

I tend to accumulate more than collect- especially things I have a use for!  It's like I'm looking for the perfect solution...

-Computer Games
-Video Games
-DVDs
-Computer Bags
-Role-playing game books
-board games
-books of all sorts

... and computers.  Sad, I know.  I try to get rid of them, but really, how do you part with them?

My biggest issue with single pane is drag and drop (or copy) operations.  True, they're doable with single pane with tabs, but it is a bigger issue.  And you can't have convenient buttons or right click menus that say send to other pane.  And the ability to see two directories side by side is a very key thing to me...

It's the new AOL CD in the mail paradigm.  You remember the days when AOL CD's came in *everything*.  Now these webapps are doing the same thing.  I'm not sure what made AOL stop... but whatever it is, we need to use it on them!

Dual Panes was the most important issue, but with his statement that it was on the roadmap, just not the next exit, I decided to give it a go.  I still use DO (and will probably have to upgrade damn his eyes for upgrade costs especially since you need that to get native vista support), but XY is finding a place on my desktop and my USB drive.  The FTP would be more of an issue if it was dual pane, but I just use DO whenever I need to FTP.

I use Download Mage and GetRight with Flashgot.  I think Download Mage has pretty much been abandoned, but it works well for me... you can use the demo version for as long as you want to with only a few missing features- it can still be registered, but I had to prod the devs for a few days before I received a key...
