# What is in it for you? Why would you do this for free?

Nothing. Just the satisfaction that I am putting my free time to good use and helping others in the process.

why dont you then offer a service (for a fee) to
add plugins, configure stuff etc .... support your installs 'for life' :) ).
well maybe not for life but for a while at least

EDIT/ okay maybe I focus on money too much (cause I need more of it :-[)... but it could be practical and helpful and a money making venture

And while I'm at it: a big thank you to all who run this site even when all is smooth.

The quick way is checking whether you have a file called ntos.exe in %SystemRoot\system32, like mouser mentioned above.

Is it only ntos.exe? I checked and I have an ntoskrnl.exe in the system32 folder. Is that safe?

a google search gives the impression it's more of a problem not to have that (ntoskrnl.exe) -
I had checked it out myself earlier

I can't access their home page either. I get a "Critical error".

Jim

it works for me now - after not having worked the last couple months - maybe they take turns in terms of where can access ;D

Its too bad that you were too busy fixing problems to put a stat-counter on the replacement page to see how many of us checked in hourly to see if things were back up.
Parsing server logs should give that information, and in more detail (since you get IPs there too :))

wel I just left DCPostNotifierLite running in the tray which I think checks once a minute :)

Yes,
BIG THANKs to ALL, mouser Gothic wordzilla for all the hard work

I guess you guys are still busy (or sleeping)
but if you get a chance
...please take this time to walk outside and remember what your family looks like. ;)
:)
+1.  but I thought DC was pretty close to being family...   :-[

I confess ...
I was just having a little dig at the message on the "Server is down" page -
I do get to go out and get fresh air [most]everyday...but I guess dc time often tends to come out of my work time  :-[
having had a break can help me break that habit...
but hey it is nice to be back :)

Looks interesting
http://tudumo.com/screenshots/

there's almost no info apart from the screenshots - which in fairness do give a very good idea of programme

It seems to work along the GTD lines

when you say
(It does not displace traditional calendar/PIM software, but rather supplements them.)

would that not mean that you have to add the info to two different programmes?

trying my hand with fixing my sounds problem
(which mainly involves contacting Brandon and asking him can he fix it)
this sort of evolved...

sounds and audio
says: No Audio Device
and all is grey [OK]

you were saying somewhere it almost fits in (...) screen (cant find it now)
you could try reducing the font a bit - I like it large but think it would look better a bit smaller
that way too it would fit better

so,
is it pronounced Woe-vel or Wov-el or wuvel to rhyme with shovel (shuvel) :tellme:

[it's been like spring here too (germany, north of alsace) but snow forecast, eh, which will make it about six inches this winter altogether...]

I been using Imagine very briefly lately. as reported by Lanux

this came up in gHacks recently: Imagine. looks good but haven't tried it yet..

what I miss straight away in Faststone (compared to imagine) is that it wont go from last file in folder back to first ("Jump to the first file?" box pops up)
also miss the modifiable shortcuts..
but I'm finding Imagine either a bit buggy or else it has very strange defaults with regard to zoom - havent looked into it enough yet
[edit - what gets me most about imagine is no pan :tellme: you have to use arrows - edit]

I liked it a lot, but moved on to FSViewer because of that
also I cant access it's homepage :-\

Hmm... my note about the authorship of "Screen. Mind. Both are blank" got cut off - I had written that I wonder what became of Ian Hughes, ten years on? Perhaps he's even a member here?!

 should we know this Ian ?
what do you mean it ... cut off :tellme:
how do I finish.... :-\

Note Taking Software / Re: SuperboyAC's Notetaking Software Roundup #1
« Last post by tomos on February 29, 2008, 06:58 AM »
I've been looking for a good notetaking software for a long time.  I've tried the top 3, and decided on Mybase.
The only problem is to use it at multiple computers and keep it in sync, I had to keep the DB on a USB stick.  Then, I was informed by my boss, that it was against our security policy and I could get fired!

I'm now working with InnoKB which is the server version of Mybase and hopefully this will work out for me.

Can you include online/sync/portability features in the next roundup?  I'm not sure if InnoKB is the only one that can do this.

have you had a look at General brainstorming for Note-taking software,
and SQLNotes...what is it exactly? if you interested in databases
