Kellys Korner's fix for "Tool Tips Hidden Behind the Task Bar":

"Go to Start/All Programs:  Hover over any program listed, right click and select Sort by Name.  Repeat once more.  All done!".

Nothing on dougknox.com.

Never seen these ads before and I have no problem downloading from sourceforge at all. Try blocking the ads.

Edit: Oh, download link is at the top right corner of your screen under the black bar.

Isn't there a simple solution? (like, prevent it from happening via a registry hack?)

I have seen this registry entry mentioned in several forums, but I have no idea if it fixes the problem.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\VisualEffects\TooltipAnimation]

“SetWindowPos”=”HwndInsertAfter, Hwnd_Top”
“SetForegroundWindow”=dword:00000001

You could set the Windows Class for tooltips to topmost with Nircmd:

nircmd win settopmost class “tooltips_class32" 1

Create a .cmd shortcut and use it whenever the problem reappears.

A .ahk solution was discussed in this forum (see BikeMike's post)

Right-click on desktop --> Properties --> Appearance --> Advanced Tab --> Drop Down Menu and select ToolTip

ImageTasks was mentioned before and so was VSO Image Resizer (discussed here).

Mobaphoto is another tool that supports batch processing (freeware and portable)

Here's another userbar generator tool:

BUG is a free, fast and small program that helps you create userbars for use as forum signatures. It was built to simplify the design process so you don't have to use complicated drawing programs and still get your favorite userbars in seconds.

Hrm it looks a little over the top for my uses, plus it was last updated in 1999, that's kinda scary :p

That's incorrect. It was last updated in January 2005 and it works on all Windows versions.

Hi Curt, I would also suggest InfraRecorder http://infrarecorder.sourceforge.net/ . It's the only burning tool that I've used on windows for some time now. It's small, quick, clean and up to date. There is also a portable version:
http://portableapps....frarecorder_portable

You could download a portable ZIP package from the developer.

I can recommend you new software that will keep your headache thousands miles away from you.

Do you have something similar to keep spammers away?

Oh Carol, I am afraid it was a trap and you fell for it. It looks like we have got a new spammer in the house.

See Taskbar Displayed Only On <Win> Keypress thread for possibly an alternative solution.

Z-Cron is another freeware alternative (via Lifehacker).

Ah, no option for retaining file attributes, creation date, etc.

Both http://www.cylog.org/ and http://www.cylog.co.uk/ are up and running. Still takes a long minute to load but it's working.

Looks like a powerful rename tool with simulation mode and undo option. All files and settings are saved in the application folder .
