lovely stuff

so far I've looked at a beautiful early Koran,
first atlas of Europe and
early writing of Jane Austen (that I just last week read - "Catharine" Oxford classics)

Though with an investment consisting of a mispelled name and a single post on how to change it . . . really, it would be faster/easier to just sign up all over again rather than worry about a forum post followed by a private message followed by administrative action :-\

maybe it's someone else in disguise :o  :D

Living Room / Re: Your happiness right now
« Last post by tomos on April 15, 2008, 02:49 PM »
couple of comments -
not wanting to be nitpicking but I think there may be confusion about what happiness is/means

if you're going around glowing with "happiness" all the time - I dunno :-\ , I dont think I'd even envy you! (does it exist like that?)
Rethink: a nice quiet steady "happy" glow would be nice alright!

Look at a "happy" cat :)
It cant tell us exactly what's going on for it (well not in words anyways!), but looking at it, one would suspect it's more of a contentment thing -
throw in a good dash of awareness of what's going on around it - in fact it probably doesnt even think of itself as particularly separate from all that other stuff going on...
Let's see, add in total involvement with what it's doing (focus, awareness again) and with what it's feeling.
Which is often probably nothing :) no, probably never really nothing, but nothing major at least.
Just being there

That's where I often wonder as well - one persons "emotion" is anothers "feeling", for some there's a big difference between the two, for others none...
Also I'm wary when terms like the pursuit of happiness are used - I wonder what exactly is meant..

I foolishly never downloaded the first series from guardian and it's gone now, but,
at 5$ (link below) especially with exchange rate in favour of the euro it's gonna be got  :D

are series two and three (as) good ?

Then, if you can only boot from an usb flash memory key, IFW2 seems a better choice, but you really have to try before.  Some PC can and some other can't.  I am sure that you can build a bootable USB key with the demo version, then you can try.

I know that one (Image for Windows) has been recommended elsewhere here

Edit/ but does it do incremental or differential backups ?
no sign of it at their site

Each user will decide that they want to put on their page (a fictional story, their life history, pictures, poetry, political rantings, whatever).

can we put in images as well or would that have to be limited due to size
or is all that kind of thing to be decided...

funny thing czechboy,
it actually created the folder/s in "program files" folder itself !!

I guess it would do the same on a non english xp, e.g. a german one where there's no program files folder - "programme" instead. (?)
That might ruffle a few feathers :D

off to make a list for tomorrow

Here's the link: Bart's Preinstalled Environment (BartPE) bootable live windows CD/DVD.
I think the UBCD4WIN is a lot easier to make and as far as I know it comes with DriveImage XML "pre-installed"
http://www.ubcd4win.com/

edit/ mind you it was a couple of yrs ago i tried bartpe and only end of last year I made the other
9665
I cross posted on the other thread

btw whats this "x-like focus follows mouse behaviour" ??
9666
I was wondering the same thing while looking at the "Window Tags" thread earlier today

... here's KeySwitch - Use hotkeys to switch windows!

1: Press Ctrl-T to start assigning a hotkey.
2: Press Ctrl and 0 through 9 to assign that hotkey to the active window.
3: To swith to a window, press the assigned hotkey.

I'm no expert Curt,
but that seems to bring you back to DriveXML which doesnt do incremental images but does has an accessible format as opposed to the others
or
there's always cheap older versions of Acronis around (9 seems to be recommended a lot - in fact more than the more recent versions).
Does 9 do incremental backup images? I think it does, anyone?
I had 8 (or was it 7 :-\) but it didnt recognise usb2 so no good
or,
what I did was -
get one of the free versions of Acronis (search - there's usually a couple around) and then you can upgrade for 29$ + tax
to be honest though, I'm sorry I didnt splash out the extra bit though for something else e.g. DriveSnapshot
The acronis11 install takes up a lot of space (hundreds of MBs) and I hear a lot of complaints about it (and the interface bugs me but thats very minor in the context...)

or from "Best Forums for.." thread

Hmmm....There are several forums I'd like to recommend.
1) For questions about computers (hardware and software), the Internet, and related matters, I love the Neat Net Tricks forum at http://www.topfreefo...mforum=neatnettricks.  The expertise of the participants ranges from newbie to awesome, and I've found the atmosphere very friendly and helpful.  (I also like their multi-reviewer software reviews: http://www.neatnettr...reReviews/splash.htm)

I cant personally recommend any but have you had a look at the dc links page ?

I like the idea

Frosted look nice too
At at that link you give they dont seem to show any images of ones actually printed there?
Also when you go to quote, there only seems to be option of 2 colours but when I think about it
it could look good simply black ink

messing around using their stock images/fonts

... Isn’t giving a firewall a  because it’s not perfectly compatible with PS tray a bit… extreme  ?? ...

I have a license for Outpost Pro, so I don't have to tolerate any problems.  ;)

The Danes ruled certain parts of Ireland a thousand years ago, so there may be some Irishmen with Danish blood, but I am quite sure that I don't have Irish blood...
reading back in this thread I came across the above -
[possibly/probably off-topic] (depending on Curt's answer :P):-

:tellme: whats with the irish blood (or lack of it) Curt?
BTW I'm one of those irish with viking blood... also BTW, not looking to complain or anything about the rep of the irish, just curious :)

jeez
just trying jettico the last couple of days - it's too much
hundreds of clicks per day, many for software I've added to trusted zone or whatzever they call it (it's gone now I cant check)

not for me,
might try commodo or online-armor

I used use Fritz!Box router which came with a really nice software firewall but now have internet via cable (Kabel.de) and they charging 4€/month for their security "suite" - I'd be wary of it if it was for free :)
