Isn't that what Nitro Pro does? (though I've never tried it myself) If you do this often, why not just scan the PDF in something like ABBYY FineReader and then convert it back into PDF?

not quite:

by the way, how do I add videos here?

If you do this often, why not just scan the PDF in something like ABBYY FineReader and then convert it back into PDF?

I do this often and thus, such procedure wont be convenient
moreover, that procedure is too lossy

I tested, it somehow "works", but not in the way I was expecting/wanting

it seems to treat pdf pages as photos and it crops them like that.

however, I want to treat them like doc files, where when you delete text or other blocks of data, all the below text moves up to fill the void

with pdfscissors you cant seem to be able to delete a part of a pdf page that doesn't expand to its full width and rearrange the left content automatically to fill the gap

I think there is a parameter that most nowadays digital pen input device manufacturers havent realized that is important:

digital pen on screen moves very smoothly, while regular pen on regular paper movement involves has some kind of friction

if they try to mimick that friction in digital pen on screen, precision might increase

while i havent thought of it more deeply, i think it would improve human-machine interaction experience

General Software Discussion / language learning software
« Last post by kalos on February 14, 2013, 06:12 PM »
hello!

wikipedia has very nice collective articles/comparisons on specific software, eg. a complete list of office suits, email programs, etc

however I cant find anything for language learning software

do you know any wikipedia or not, link, that is complete and comparative?

I am interested in spanish particularly, but any link would be nice, since most companies have software for many languages

thanks!

Like I said, just get a what-you-can-afford Wacom tablet, and see if Office lets you do graphic markups.  Here's a sample from Open/LibreOffice, done with my Wacom Graphire 3:
 (see attachment in previous post)

exactly, but:
1) wacom is an expensive option :/
2) in the screenshot you uploaded the lines dont appear well, is it just because you were in hurry? or I shouldnt expect the technology to perform very well?

sorry but I dont want it to transform my handwritten corrections to typed text!

I want to make annotations like this:

but not by writing on the screen, but in a smaller device, like a touchpad-like input device

Living Room / Re: fixed glasses
« Last post by kalos on February 08, 2013, 07:20 AM »
I've learned to dislike rimless glasses

I think that the objective fact that rimless glasses do not limit the optical field, should make them number one option

Purely a matter of personal preference. The thin frames don't impair the optical field because your eyes learn to look around them so to speak.

My experience with rimless glasses is that they're too easy to damage and require constant "adjustment bending" since they're a little too flexible. YMMV.

That may also be a problem if you want a headband in the back to keep them on - as the picture you posted seems to indicate. , Since the only thing attached to the lenses would be the nose bridge and side pieces with a rimless design, all the pressure from the headband is going to put be on the bridge, and the lenses will constantly being pulled back and against your face like goggles. That would likely be very uncomfortable.

Maybe you'd be better off just getting contact lenses :)

while I agree with the fact that they may require more "adjustment bending" (however, titanium and other memory materials overcome this problem, or transparent frames)
I don't agree that the fact eyes learn to look around them
imo, it is the brain who learns to ignore the presence of the frames, and this does mean that optical field becomes limited
i accept that the limitation may be insignificant, but imo it is not
rimless glasses cause limitation of the optical field as well, since at the edges of the lenses, there is no (at least clear) visibility, but probably less significant than this of frames glasses

as for the goggles, probably, I was just thinking that there could be a way to fix that

hello!

I need a pair of rx glasses, that are nicely fixed to head
they must be rimless, they must have titanium or similar light and bendable frame and they should be easily fixed securely to head, like that maybe? :

Or you can simply crop the page (or all pages), using the crop tool in Acrobat or PDF Exchange. Wasn't Adobe "giving away" Acrobat Pro 8 just the other day?

it's close to what I want, but not exactly

afaik, it doesnt allow you to specify an area in the middle of the page, that expands to the full width of the page, and cut it out, and rejoin the rest parts to a single page

Living Room / Re: a place to buy exotic plants?
« Last post by kalos on February 03, 2013, 05:43 PM »
I want to start a green business

I want exotic plants that have unique properties

I want exotic plants that are rare, not to say unknown, here

I want to introduce something new to the local market, either a new taste, or a functional plant or anything like that, eg.:

- coffee, sugar, chocolate, milk, oil etc substitutes
- therapeutic/functional plants
- plant species that can offer more efficient or economic production of already known fruits and vegetables
eg. tomatoe-like plants that is resistant in winter, or mellon-like plants that make small mellons in the size of your palm, etc

a few specific examples I have in mind are breadfruit, sapote, etc

I know that at the current times of globalization and scientific and technological advances, it's hard to find something unknown or unique, but I think it is worth trying finding any
