That's why you use the existing admin account instead.

tapatalk -- i'll look into it. anyone else use that?

I do (occasionally). It's easier because it remembers my password on a smartphone.

Regarding Joomla: Eww. Joomla and Drupal both have awful security statistics. Sadly.

For yet unknown reasons Mozilla also shut down public access to ftp.mozilla.org. Bah!

He-he. Windows 10's "automated installation in the background" bluescreened me while trying to update my AMD driver...

Memo to myself: Don't even try to use Glass8 with Win10.  :-\

Now why is the WiFi so fucking slow?

Repaired Windows 10 by disabling the WiFi during the boot process ...

Microsoft has admitted it collects key information on Windows users, recording the searches they make with Bing

Phew, good thing Google would never do that!  :-*

I do not like MS neither Google. (...) I like Linux. (...) I like privacy.

Ironically, you can't use most GNU/Linux distributions securely without sharing a quite unique amount of data with US-American servers. Linux users tend to ignore that.

Also, the developer is arrogant, banning hard-working contributors from his board because their political beliefs are incompatible with his ones.

Why?

Living Room / Re: The end of the hard disk

According to Information Week, the end of 2015 will see SSDs with greater capacity than any hard disks currently available and SSDs are expected to be cost competitive with hard disks by the end of 2016.

Sure. Also, no one will use a device with a real keyboard anymore, yadda yadda.

I'm open for suggestions. In general, it's not too wrong.

There is no such thing as "anti-exploit programs". The best you can do is use your existing anti-exploit mechanisms (-> EMET).
966
Depends on what I'm trying to do. I have one Windows laptop, one OpenBSD laptop, one OpenBSD server and one FreeBSD server.
I might give NetBSD a run on the laptop though, just for the sake of it.

As I fail to remember it every single time, I'd like to suggest that "DC2" will finally fix the tab order here. "Quick Reply" -> type a reply -> <Tab> -> Enter should trigger "Post", not "Search".  :-\

Thank you!

"My computer is more secure now, only malware newer than three years can hijack it."

Wow.
970
it's surely better than nothing.

By opening more potential holes at the cost of no additional security? Nice.

You can't "go" there.
972
All of them.
You know, I've been using "classic" forums for about 15 years now; maybe new people who are used to Facebook's way of displaying your messages (i.e. you're lucky if you find what you were looking for) have less problems than I do.

New forum software developers seem to think that everything has to be different - even the good parts.
973
I guess it's the structure. I tried discussing on discourse.org once and failed several times to find my discussion later. It just lacks clarity.
974
I have accounts with some of such forums.
I never managed to discuss there.
I don't find interesting discussions there ...

After years of using git, I really learned to love to use Mercurial for my unpaid hobby projects.
git sucks.
