Continued quick charging is probably not the best idea since it will kill your battery over a long time. Use a simple charger when you can.

On the subject of charging: Battery Charge Limit [Requires root]

Which is based upon: How to Prolong Lithium-based Batteries

Mostly.
https://www.androidh...ited-cdma-bands.html

That's a link for the Oneplus 5, here's the Oneplus 5T.

Proprietary fast charging technology is a bit of a downer, would have been better if they just licensed Qualcomm's Quick Charge since the SoC supports it, (you can get QC compatible chargers cheap).

I'm also looking for a new android phone. Is there any suggestion, I will use for working only, but it needs to run fast, quality camera, call for long hours. My budget is 300 dollar  ;D

It would help if you gave a country, not all mobile networks are the same, ie. the bands available in one country might not be available in another thus limiting what model to buy and where from.

Quality camera in a phone less than $300 isn't going to be easy unless you buy a previous (older) flagship model.

Dual SIM
External Storage (Hybrid slot or dedicated in the case of Dual SIM)
Sensors (eg. Gyroscope, eCompass, etc)

From my earlier post:

Work out what you want to do with the phone, then work out what functions the phone has to have to fulfil them.
eg.
  • If you're going to take 360⁰ photo spheres with the camera, then it has to have gyroscope.
  • If you want photo metadata that shows which direction you were facing when you took the photo, then it requires a compass.
  • If you want to play games that require tilting/moving the phone, then it has to have an accelerometer.
  • If you want to navigate, it has to have a GPS receiver.
  • If you just like playing with gadgets, get everything.
  • etc

I currently use a Moto G5 Plus (AU version link, other countries have different specs), battery lasts two days (probably three if I didn't play games on it), Quick Charge 2.0 for fast charging, Dual SIM + dedicated uSD slot (4G/3G on the SIMs), pretty close to stock Android which makes it fast, can use the fingerprint scanner as single button navigation (no need for Back, Home, Recent buttons), camera is decent (same sensor as the Samsung S7), 4K video, NFC (great for Android Pay), network unlocked, and it cost less than AU$300 (~US$230).

Worlds Smallest Smartphone! - Posh Micro X

Worlds Smallest useful Smartphone: Unihertz Jelly Pro

[Useful because it's not stuck on a network that is being decommissioned in quite a few countries, ie. GSM.]

Note that the depth of information provided may be somewhat intimidating to non technical viewers.

And sometimes incorrect for phones because they usually only bother with North American and/or Europe versions.

Go to the manufacturer and get the specs if you want facts, eg. Moto G5+ XT1685 is listed as 3GB/32GB RAM/Storage, this is only true for the EU version. Asia Pacific version is 3GB/16GB or 4GB/32GB.

Ah, my apologies @4wd, but I suspect this may come from a clone replication of the CONTRO AI that I recall having explained about in a separate thread.

@kalos: Search404

I've been reliably informed that the same search also works on Google, Bing, Yahoo, the Whispering Wall, a letter sent to Santa, and a bottle with the question inside thrown into the sea at a random location.

PS. You will note that in the order above the time between the question and the answer increases, this is commensurate with the time to get relevant information before said question can be asked.

PPS. If you feel that you lack the technical expertise to carry out such an exercise: Samsung T3 & T5 Portable

It's an mSATA SSD, go buy a bigger one.

Is there some philosophical reason it always takes half a dozen posts before we get enough information?

I know this, the problem is you'll have to do it for every program update, probably even incremental, since it most likely uses the same installer the same way.

It would be better if they fixed the problem.

Technically, every single automatic bot you want to run needs to be checked by the Twitter Bots team unless you want to violate their ToS.

MBAM 3.3.1.2183 - new version, same problem.

Really don't understand the problem here, they're using Inno Setup as the installer, same as other programs I've installed without a problem, (eg. DisplayFusion latest) ... same version of Inno Setup too.

And if you want to archive all your Twitter DMs, (text, images, and videos), you can use DMArchiver.

Twitter may flag it as a bot the first time you run it and lock the account but I've found I just need to be logged in via a browser, answer the "I am human" question that pops up, then run DMArchiver again.

Technically, you are running a bot but it's not doing anything malicious so it's kind of a grey area since they don't mention anything about automated reading.

In the UK it'll be 07..........

But the question is why it asks for the number in the first place, it should be getting it from the SIM directly, eg. I only have to dial 101, (or #101#, or reply with a blank SMS), to access VoiceMail and that's in any country.  Just have to ensure you're dialing out from the SIM that matches the VoiceMail you're trying to connect to.

"after about a year, the ear pad covers started to disintegrate. MEE doesn't sell these particular covers, so you either wear trashy looking headphones (that still work great), or you buy a new set."
Yeah, well I guess that just about sums up the integrity of their marketing then, doesn't it?
Product life = approx. 1 year, after which elapsed time it becomes a "disposable" object.
I'm not really too surprised, if that is the case, having already presumed that this would probably be the case for the discarded Monster headphones that I found.

Meh, 1 report out of all of them, more inclined to think it's storage, failure to properly maintain, or just an isolated quality control case.

Non-Windows Software / Re: Google Play Store Android updates not new
« Last post by 4wd on October 20, 2017, 02:04 AM »
I have two apps which update outside of the Play store or via the Play store, depends which way happens first.

I suppose if something similar is happening the Play store could be reporting an update available even though the app has already self-updated but the Google update date will be out of date.

Did the AF65 come with a spare set of ear-pads?

No

Are those stubby little black pegs on the carrier a friction-fit into the plastic of the headphone?

Yes

Hmm... I wonder how much the pads would cost to buy and whether I could retro-fit them to the Monster headphones...

IMG_20171019_225343586.jpg

Cut out is 42 mm for the 40mm drivers.

EDIT: Looks like you can't get the pads according to one Amazon review: "after about a year, the ear pad covers started to disintegrate. MEE doesn't sell these particular covers, so you either wear trashy looking headphones (that still work great), or you buy a new set."

I've had mine for over a year and they still look OK but then he doesn't say how he stores them, leaving them in daylight a lot would probably deteriorate the vinyl quickly.

If you have a friend in the USA then you can get a set of AF65' from Amazon for $19.69 ... I bought a second pair a few months ago when they hit ~$30 + $6 P&P but they were being sold by Amazon Export Sales, (and it's currently $45 + P&P from them).

I bought a couple of pairs for a friend in the USA, he was pleasantly surprised by how good they are.

Nokia Purity HD Wired WH-930 by Monster On-Ear Headphones.

Crikey, yes, so they do - in fact, from the close-ups, the design of the MEE Audio AF65 Touch look almost identical, barring the rounded-hole ear-pads.
The close-ups seems to indicate that the ear-pads are probably still made/fitted in the same rubbish way though - i.e., glued-on to a fabric backplate, which is itself glued-on to the plastic of the headset. However, they might last a while longer, because, by going for a perforated design for the ear-pads, they look as though they might have avoided the perishable seam (weakness/defect) of the rounded-hole ear-pad design of the Monster headphones.

Not quite, the AF65's are designed to have replaceable parts, the cushions aren't glued to anything. You can slide them off the plastic carrier and install new ones:

IMG_20171019_173433419.jpg

Comfort is excellent, they come with a hard case which is great for travelling, noise isolation is reasonable (not as good as the MEE Audio AF36 Wave I had but this has touch control ... geek factor is high), battery lasts 24 hours, aptX low latency, and they sound great.

It can also be used as a FIDO U2F device for 2FA logins. Now if I only knew whether or not any sites I use support the FIDO U2F standard. . .

Check here: Dongle Authentication

I use mine mainly for Google, CoinJar, and one other site.

Thanks! Pretty slim pickings according to that site. In fact, CoinJar isn't listed as one of the sites that use U2F. And BitBucket is listed on that site but when I checked my login options I only found TOTP.

Yeah, sorry, I have a Yubikey 4 Nano, it can do OTP as well as U2F.

It doesn't list all sites, the other site I use mine for mainly isn't there either.

I originally bought the Yubikey FIDO, (because it was cheaper but it only does U2F), but realised the Yubikey 4 series would be a much better choice so I got one when Amazon had a 50% off Prime Day.
