Permanent = well, you know what it means...
Latrine = a military word for the "privy" or camode...
Orderly = a low-ranking enlisted person, usually involved with the menial tasks.

PLO or Permanent Latrine Orderly was a fictitious job that was created by a not-so-scrupulous sergeant in "No Time For Sergeants" to keep a particular private from causing trouble, get the potty cleaned up and get a decent nights sleep.  The movie is kind of zany, but it's fun.

Ok, what's the next question?

Here's something I came across, but I can't remember where it was?    Oh well...

"Freeware" is software you do not pay for, ever, in any way.

• It is not "Shareware," which you eventually must pay for.
• It is not "Nagware," which tries to get you to pay for something that was originally offered as though it was free.
• It is not "Crippleware," software that perpetually tries to annoy and tease you about features only enabled in the commercial version.
• It is not "Adware," an increasingly popular form of software that is actually a vehicle for advertising, and that is much like the modern Internet itself.
• It is not "Spyware," a sleazy kind of program that opens a channel of communication between your computer and someone who wants to know what you are doing.

FYI - this is something I copied somewhere, so give him/her/them the credit, not me.

I'm sorry to see you folding on this, especially when so many others you know share my sentiment, but I won't attempt to dissuade you from your decision.  You know best.  I will tell you that you remind me of how I sounded when I rolled my truck (fuel tanker).  I was very discouraged.  I wish I could have sent that day to the recycle bin because my boss has never spoken to me since that day.  Neither I nor anyone else was hurt, but once I my boss realized this things were heated.  I was actually pretty disappointed because he was such a wonderful owner to work for and I hated messing up his day... and his truck.  I sure could have used your app that day!

Ok...here it goes I am Carroll from the Oldest Town in Tennessee, USA.  There is a little research for some of you...I am an amateur radio operator and have been a licensed one since 1998.  I also like programming simple stuff, website graphics/designing, and a few other things.

BASIC: Beyond All Sense, Incomprehensible Crap. Donald Knuth, iirc, has quote where "BASIC" and "brain damage" go together. Yes, fortunately today's BASICs are less hideous than the original ones, but it's not something you should touch unless you have to (ie., VB required for a job).

I agree the BASIC on the old C64, TI994A, etc. was arcane, but the Emergence BASIC that Mike has crafted his fine app with and I'm really getting excited about is a whole new animal.  For me, it has made programming fun again.

@Zaine  -  The architecture of programming itself is really very simple. Read >> Process >> Write.  The only difference is really just syntax, so pick your best (most comfortable) language and have at it and see what happens.  Does that help?
