Toyota's swedish web location takes a decidedly artsy turn in explaining it's products:
http://www.ihuvudetp...ota.se/index_en.html

was it you Edvard that posted about a "game" here .. something educational, looked very like this (done by the same person even) ?? (or maybe it was Ampa :-\)

The way this website works, I could've started it.
But I didn't. Enjoy:
If you have some unnecessary knowlege stored in your brain and would like to get it out, this looks like a perfect repository.

this reminds me of the New Yorker magazine around 1990 -havent read it since- it had one page of statistics which we used hang up on the bathroom wall - with gems like:-
3 out or 4 Japanese women have never used a toilet outside their own home (that one stuck in my head for some reason ... or it may have been 2 out of 3)

:) Try DragLock!

DragLock - Press the windows key to lock the mouse movement along one axis

nice icon too Skrommel  - looks a bit like a medieval church floor tile ...
will give it a run across the tiles tomorrow :-)

I'll see your fnord and raise you 23: (see attachment in previous post)5361792048656c6c6f20746f204d79204c6974746c6520467269656e64
that link is lost in there Edvard
http://www.fnord.org...a/text/what.is.fnord
I had been wondering what a FNORD was ;D

Came across this strange, ingenious product a long time ago...was amusing enough for me to add it to my collection of links on my website:

Uncle Boogger's Bumper Dumper
;D ;D had a good laugh there, thanks App!
- eh, why dont they just go in the ditch/roadside/woods ? (well in fairness they do suggest situations where it would be helpful)
I can imagine your sitting on your b-dumper the side of some backwoods road and another car comes around the bend...

Ooh, that reminds me of the Rodenator!!

incredible the things people do for a bit of grass, isnt it !?!

Developer's Corner / Re: Dina in TTF format?
« Last post by tomos on August 02, 2008, 03:24 AM »
So why not import the font into a program like Flash or Illustrator and convert the characters to vectors then build a TTF for Dina?

Sounds simple enough for the ignorant! ;)

I'm fairly ignorant of these things myself, but I believe to do it properly is a massive amount of work -
lots of things have to be adjusted for different scales/point sizes

It would be interesting to add it to the scanahand template! - does that have to be given in as a jpeg?
You'd lose (a lot of) quality that way..

Let's see

Skrommel recently made :-* DragLock which forces the mouse to drag in horizontal or vertical directions
I use it when printing details of large images to pan the image in the print-preview box (in FreeHand)

Next one I hardly ever use but it's one of those wonderful little programmes that does something obscure very well
Time Stamp Modifier
The program is pretty simple. It enables to get the time from the EXIF info (stored inside by the JPEG file) and set it as the time of the file.

It also enables to select multiple files in a list and shift their date/time by a time slice - by single click you can increase/decrease seconds, minutes, hours, days, months or years.
so
if something screws up your last modified date of your photos you can recover it from the Exif info ...

Not so specialised or obscure, FileHamster the versioning backup programme

[edit changed the link for Time Stamp Modifier]

General Software Discussion / Re: SQLNotes...what is it exactly?
« Last post by tomos on July 31, 2008, 03:32 PM »
Yeah, I understand that.  Of course, there are also the confirmation dialogs for removing the children of parent items as a security measure.  My issue was that I removed unrelated items and some other items disappeared, they were not parents or children of each other.  And they only disappeared after I exited SN and reopened it the next day.  So, it's more of a bug rather than an issue with using the system.

I think there's still bugs/problems to do with display, especially as you say on first programme start of the day
BTW, I use it daily, for work & some non-work stuff too, but I suppose I use it in fairly limited ways, anyways, I've never lost anything, but at times on restart I have to refresh or do the Crtl+9 shortcut to expand everything fully (presuming your hierarchy isnt more then 9 levels) - or sometimes to right-click an item & click on the display all sub-items icon

I havent had the problem you describe - homeless items -
did it relate to what Pierre said about "the grid source field contains a space in the name" ?

Also BTW, unlike Armando I have just the parent or top-level items as source in the grid (it works this [my] way by default) seems to suit me but I'll have to try his way sometime

I've only skimmed through the previous posts so apologies if I've missed anything

@tomos: to enable the button on top, you need to have Logitech's SetPoint installed. anyway, it looks like a 'document-flip' button (something like alt+tab).

thanks lanux,
I'm happy enough with just the other 5, I'll stick with WEP's winscroll/Alt+Tab ;)

* f0dder goes on a rampage about the lack of quality mice without a zillion buttons, and without right-handed-only form factor.

I bought the Logitech Mx310 a year or two ago,
it's cheap, bisexual ehh, you can use it left or right hands, it does have back/forward buttons, & a button on top - it's easy to ignore them - I've never used the one on top, dont even know what it does (just tested, nothing obvious happening at the moment :D)

very impressive TucknDar - that will be a great help -
we'll probably start to see a huge increase in screenshots attatched to posts now :)

a) will scramble around to find an english XPPro install (or recovery cds) which corresponds to the same physical machine type, which (if my understanding of b.gates' rules is correct) should allow to use the Windows key/authorization and thereby replace the german O/S.

I was in exactly the same situation but was told that I couldnt replace the german xp with an english one, but that was a few years back & I cant remember my source & there's always lots of confusion about these things I find ... (even within MS by the sounds of things :-\)

It looks like www.adrive.com has officially started both free and commercial options. The free option gives you 50 gb for personal use.
Trying it out as we speak. Signed up for the, apparently, free 50GB version. Seems a lot for free but I've run out of options.

have you started using it yet biox ?
was wondering how it works... thinking that it would nicely hold my photos with a bit of room to spare ;)

sorry, cant help you on laptop

When you say: "keep the original date" -
do you mean creation date or last modified date of the file ?
-
If yes to any of the above :) was Irfan View able to manage that?

DOpus could have done everything you want (I think) but I'm not sure about the date thing

I downloaded all three files and they went at about 40-50 KBps the entire time. That's a lot faster than dial-up, but fairly slow for broadband.

Firefox said top-speed of 2.1MB per second here -
I've never seen speed listed as MB's per second, in theory I have a fast connection but rarely never seen a download that fast...

do you know what associations it messes with?

Seems to affect video file associations; I had to go to my media player (The KMPlayer) and re-associate media files.

Living Room / Re: Can you live with *just* opera?
« Last post by tomos on July 30, 2008, 06:51 AM »
small things - much less control over how tabs work get's me every time I use Opera - also, not an important thing but it was opera brought in that thing where if you click on the open tab, it will go back to the previous tab - that worked for a very short while & hasnt since -

Actually, it works all the time, but it's... weird, to say the least. I can't explain how exactly works, but it seems to be a mix between the old behaviour and the default one in Firefox. In any case, it works fine for me, and I prefer it to the old one.

eh, you've lost me there Lashiec :P :D
dont know if I described it properly
-
say you look at tab#5, then look at tab#12,
then click on tab#12 again & it would go back to tab#5
(are you talking about the same thing? sounds like something that works or doesnt :))

Another thing I cant seem to do is open new typed address in a new page as opposed to in current

You can hold Ctrl + Enter to open an address in another tab (+ Shift to open it in the background), but I don't know if this is what you're talking about :)

thanks for that

Mini-Reviews by Members / Re: Jungle Disk Mini-Review: offsite data storage
« Last post by tomos on July 30, 2008, 06:44 AM »
Couple of things:-

When you purchase Jungle Disk you simply use the password you created on purchase to "activate" the software
This may have been mentioned above somewhere but it took me a while to figure it out cause I purchased it early last week and only added the password today to activate it [- I had been looking for a regristration key :-[ ]

The Jungle Disk forum doesnt work properly (for me anyways) if Adblock Plus is activated in FF3 -
no reply, quote, PM, etc, buttons visible
9324
I think it's a case of you print something out & you're on a different wavelength and start working with that without going back to instructions - I know cause thats how I work ..

another possibility would be to have the "Complete Template" page first - & then the Download/Print page (or have it at the bottom of the "Complete Template" page)

Hi Ehtyar,

I'm missing TabMixPlus something cruel, but other than that I'm OK.

You can find a version for FF3 here (its a Dev-Build, but works flawless for me): http://tmp.garyr.net...viewtopic.php?t=7031

Marc

after FF update to 3.0.1 today I had to go back & install this again - seems to be working fine -
I think I couldnt live with FF without it ...
