they are supposed to offer an alternative way to save webpages, than the default which saves the webpage in an html file and an accompanying folder

the advantages are portability, compatibility, organizing single files, etc

I am not sure, but they may offer an advantage in saving a webpage "more completely", so that when you will open it offline, you will be able to view it exactly as if online

Living Room / portable furniture
« Last post by kalos on April 10, 2013, 12:11 PM »
hello!

I will be on the go for a long period, moving from place to place and I may not have the chance (or the budget) to rent furnished rooms

so, I am looking for portable furniture

there are millions of portable chairs and desks, some of which I like are:

do you own anything better or have any better idea?
I just want something to sit, eat, place my laptop, read a book, write, nothing much!

thanks!

tomos,

are you using Win7? if yes, which theme/shell? it looks very nice

well, while I dont deny similar thing exists, I will need to see some screenshots of those clipboard managers

the uniqueness as I imagine it, is that it can store data in table with cells (or in columns and rows if you prefer) where the position of a cell, means something for the data of that cell (for example if the second column contains surnames, then you know that the text of the cell "James" is not a name, but a surname)

most, if not all, clipboard managers, afaik, store data strings, not data tables, ie. one text line below the other, or multi-line text strings one below the other

how can I save a table in this format?

additionaly, a popup that will follow cursor and it will be easy to choose (with various keyboard/mouse methods) a specific cell to paste, is also a part of what I imagine

to be honest, I am not basically interested in videos, but in javascript popups, flash content, and such
but yes, it's up to web developer that if he decides to hide something, he will do it no matter what (via JS, etc)
933
yes, I want everything (that's what "etc" was for)

rgdot's recommendation is very common, but my experiecne with httrack was poor (admittedly long ago)

teleport used to do alot better job, but again:
1) it is somehow cumbersome to use it in everyday usage since I will have to manually insert the url from the web browser to the other (httrack) program (ok, I will just need some kind of ahk script to automate it)
2) it is not as simple as it should, because there are lots of settings and it does not offer the WYSIWYG of the browser
934
It's not some specific webpage I want to save. I am just trying to find the best way to save webpages. I am sure we all have saved a webpage in order to view it offline, and it ended up with parts missing!

The extra options are from plugins.
935
as you can see here there are numerous:

which should I choose?

hello!

which file format is more accurate to save webpages?

that it will lossly save all the webpage and its related files, eg videos, scripts, etc, so that I will archive the webpage in fully functional form, offline

thanks!

General Software Discussion / [IDEA] multi copy and paste
« Last post by kalos on April 08, 2013, 08:48 AM »
hello!

often, when we want to copy and paste data that comprises of multiple data fields (for example the data of this forum's member accounts, where each account comprises of the data field of username, password, email, etc), it is difficult to automate it

we first must bind the source fields to the target fields, which is not very easy

so, I am looking for a program/script that will copy Excel cells (or similarly csv formatted text) and then let me paste a specific field to the target form field

I would highly appreciate ideas on how to facilitate such operations, however I already have an idea:

to display the data copied in a popup, where we can click a cell and paste that value in the point of the cursor

thanks!

hello!

there is an excellent feature in Linux and I am looking for a similar in Win7/8

I want to point a taskbar button or a window and kill the process of it (first try to close it regularly and then, if not successful, kill it)

is there a way?

I want it to work with with a mouse combination, like hold middle click and left click, etc

thanks!

General Software Discussion / thunderbird alternative
« Last post by kalos on April 01, 2013, 08:22 AM »
hello

it's time for me to goodbye Thunderbird, since it gives me all the time "operation not succeeded" errors (due to the large amount of email accounts and emails? due to something else? not sure)

can you suggest me a robust 100% yahoo/gmail web-mail-compatible alternative, feature rich as Thunderbird?

it must be able to easily and quickly handle laaaarge amount of data

thanks!

General Software Discussion / Re: keylogger

Kalos, if you do almost all your typing in your browser, and your browser is Firefox, Chrome, or Safari, there's a terrific free add-on called Lazarus that will copy and save (for an amount of time you stipulate) everything you type in the browser.   I use an earlier version that's just for Firefox, and it has saved my bacon countless times.  The version I've linked to is said to work with Chrome and Safari as well.

Definately interesting find, but an OS-level solution would be handy

The problem with these programs is that they have malicious intentions and they are stealth

I need something only for recovering typed and copied text and stuff

I again installed Screenshot Capture, I tried to upload an image, but:

1) there were too many clicks involved
2) I didn't manage to upload it, because it wanted me to install some other software
3) the producted image had some artifacts in its top corners

:/

yes, I am aware of that, but... after trying I found it too complicated to use it!
although, I wouldnt classify myself as novice in using software and I have used thousands of programs UIs.
I realize it's powerful, but, it seems an overkill... :/

there is the Click-free browsing chrome addon (I know, it's chrome) that pops up navigation buttons (including move to top/bottom) when you move your cursor to the right edge of the webpage and you "click" them just by hovering over them

pretty cool imo, pity there is not any similar for firefox
