Thanks, second shot was 27 minutes short of 00:29, (maximum eclipse), but still within the time frame of the total eclipse, (23:51-01:07).

One day I might get another tripod to replace the one that broke years ago .... now when's the next eclipse ;D

Max zoom: 24x optical + 4x digital

24x optical + 2.18x digital

Hand held Olympus SH-60, wouldn't focus once maximum eclipse reached, (not enough light).

Don't know if it'll download any added photo info but you can try Google data download (Link - need to sign in).

You can export and download your data from the Google products you use, like your email, calendar, and photos.

General Software Discussion / Re: Can I make a Live Win XP USB.
« Last post by 4wd on January 19, 2018, 07:46 PM »
I've used BartPE and WinBuilder, both are good, WinBuilder (main site, tutorials) being a little easier, IMHO.

There's also AOMEI PE Builder which will create any PE from XP -> 10 whilst also adding their Backupper and Partition Assistant utilities.

There was also another but I forget the name, (started with R, IIRC), it was a wrapper for BartPE and made adding utilities easier.

Also, a utility was available that could capture installed programs, (or as they they were installed), and create a package suitable for adding to WinPE environments, worked for both BartPE or WinBuilder, IIRC.

Have to look through my file archives to find these again.

Used to spend hours working on creating WinPE environments, these days I don't bother, easier to boot a Linux CD to run recovery programs or such.

EDIT: The other PE creator was called REATOGO which doesn't appear to exist any more, the plugin builder was called H7PluginBuilder which also doesn't exist.

But that's it, the headless computer at home was running 8.1 for a couple of years after all other machines were upgraded to 10, (it only changed from 8.1 to 10 in the last couple of months}.

So for the last 2 years or so I've been RDP from 10 to 8.1.

Yeah, sorry, I should have said I've been RDP from 8.1 and 10 for the last couple of years.

DC Website Help and Extras / Mobile access ... no way to log out
« Last post by 4wd on January 13, 2018, 05:18 PM »
Subject pretty much says it all, there's no way to log out when browsing the DC site using a mobile.

There used to be ... but only if I rotated the screen to landscape aspect, now there's nothing.

FHD, same as my computer monitor, so plenty of pixels available.

An idea, instead of "Greetings ????", perhaps just the  user name followed by (Logout) ... that's pretty much what is there on most sites I visit.

I know the site is transitioning so more a question of why something that was there and is a rather fundamental item of most, if not all, websites has disappeared.
935
Must be a YMMV thing, I never had any problem using RDP to my headless XP/8.1 machine either from the same LAN or from the UK, using laptops/computers running 8.1.
936
Even though I'm using Win 10 Pro, Windows 8.1 Pro was better.

More efficient than 7 but with less aggravating "we want to know everything you do, it's really our machine" than 10.

Living Room / Re: Laptop monitor screen to box pc via cables?
« Last post by 4wd on January 11, 2018, 08:58 PM »
Probably cheaper to go to a computer recycler and get a 2nd hand LCD monitor, (or possibly just the local PC shop and ask if they have any used stuff), than spend the time/money trying to interface a laptop screen.

Or wait for hard rubbish collection when people are throwing them out because the old one doesn't match the new decor or something.

Found Deals and Discounts / ASUS WebStorage Xmas Special
« Last post by 4wd on January 08, 2018, 09:43 PM »
ASUS have a special on cloud storage, cheap enough but has some limitations.

1TB @ $5.49 for a year, 200GB @ $3.99 for a year.

Unknown whether this is a recurring discount or applies to first year only.

For someone who wants to try some cheap cloud storage with (limited) versioning, can't hurt to try it at this price.

Disclaimer: I don't use it  :P

Living Room / Re: Whatsapp Desktop: can it do videocalls?
« Last post by 4wd on January 07, 2018, 05:49 AM »
As an alternative to WA, you could try Signal, it too has a web client, but I'm not sure if it supports their Video calls yet.

Neither the Signal Desktop client nor the web app do video or voice calls, the Android app does though, (and probably the iPhone app).

However, Viber can do video calls from the phone apps and the desktop app.

The Action Bar is at the bottom after selecting files:

But I will download them, thanks, but maybe Android deletes them from there?

Android doesn't delete downloads, you delete downloads ... then again, you are using a Xiaomi device so who knows where they download to by default.

Two security flaws found that affect almost all processors.

Meltdown affects Intel, Spectre affects Intel, AMD, and ARM.

Internal Storage->Download is the default download location, then just move them elsewhere.

Available Offline still appears under latest version of Drive, can get it by click-hold on a single file or select a few and use the 3dot menu on the Action bar.

2.  fSekrit: (@f0dder's own proprietary software using AES encryption)
LATEST VERSION: fSekrit 1.40 shrinkwrapped!

It is open source and available for review on GitHub for the last 22 months, (forum post).

I was visiting my parents house last week and noticed an icon for "Teamviewer" on my dad's desktop.

FWIW, since I'm the de facto computer repair technician for the family both my parents computers have CCleaner Cloud installed on them, I get emails about what software has been installed/updated and, if necessary, remotely uninstall some software, (depends on the software).

Of course, the downside is I also get to remotely fix things while I'm overseas  :-\

TBH, sounds more like a personal introduction on a dating site rather than an actual interview.

In which case huge breast implants could be beneficial.

@cranio: Good idea, that way you can have both interviewer and interviewee on cam at once.

According to basic logic:

However I don't want to be seen during the recording.

Cannot co-exist with this:

I have a video interview where I have to record myself via my laptop camera.

Either do a video interview of yourself or don't ... simple.

Hirens?

Hiren's BootCD, it has the Offline NT Password & Registry Editor on it.

If it's a 32bit version of Windows 7 you can also use Kon-Boot free version to log on and change it.

Got a Xiaomi Dafang IP camera recently (under AU$20 delivered):

xiaomi_mijia_dafang_1080p_gimbal_ip_security_camera_for_home_wp1020390403364_1_.jpg

XIAOMI DAFANG IP Camera Highlights:

  • Microphone – Can pick sounds up to 10M
  • Photos – Can take photographs in 360 degrees or 93 degrees
  • Remotely controlled – using Xiaomi “Mi Home” App ( Apple Store / Google Play )
  • Support OS – Android 4.0 and above, iOS 7.0 and above system devices
  • Night vision – built in 6 pieces of 940nm infrared complimentary light, which
  • IR-cut (Night vision) – support day and night auto switching can restore night vision scene in 18 order grayscale.
  • Intercom – Two-way audio, you can talk to your family when you are not at home
  • Storage – Support Micro-SD Card up to 64GB  & USB Dongle ( not included )
  • Resolution – 1080P FHD 15fps with F 2.3 aperture lens providing a clear image
  • Rotation – 110-degrees rotation, and 98 degrees vertical using the gimbal
  • Lens – 110 degree super wide angle FOV
  • Intelligent detection (AI) – The gimbal will automatically track, watch and monitor home while marking objects in a Green frame mark.
  • Motion and sound detection – Can detect the smoke and CO alarm, send a notification when an alarm is triggered.
  • PIP Mode – narrowing the monitoring scene to floating window, such as chatting and monitoring together.

It's quite good the only real complaint I have against it is the requirement of a Mi account before you can use it.  There's no RTSP output so you can use off-the-shelf programs to monitor it however on GitHub there is a project aiming to implement it.
