I just read the other day that the U.S., Canada, Japan and a couple of more countries threw all that out the window, saying that they wouldn't even bring it up for a vote.  Don't tell me someone changed their mind.....

Oh well, there goes my idea of starting a company to print giant realistic guns made of chocolate.  :'(

Well your about a day late and a dollar short.  I was just looking at realistic guns made of chocolate in a magazine the other day.  The Thompson machine gun and the .45 Auto did look pretty real too.  lol

It appears this was a Non Compos Mentis issue on my part. All I had to do was click the HD button at the bottom of the Facebook Video screen and the black squares or checkering vanished.

Though I'm not sure if I turned the HD on or off.   ;D
DOH!

@Tinman57: Ah! That probably explains it. I shall try and get the drivers at that link. Thanks.

UPDATE 2012-12-13 1654hrs:
The link you gave is for AA-SS1P20B/US and not AA-SS2P20B.
It looks like the SS2 (the one I have) might be a later (newer) model of the SS1 (?).

The references I can find also sometimes mention AA-SS2P20B and S/PDIF OUT Port in the same context. S/PDIF OUT is apparently a multimedia digital compression technology incorporated into some multimedia devices. I shall have to search up to see if I can find a driver to suit that can operate on my laptop. I can find no reference to such drivers at samsung.com via the link you provided.

Yeah, that's pretty much the replacement item.  They are almost exactly alike, probably made a minor change to it and gave it another model number.  Good luck on finding anything on it.  :wallbash:

Multimedia accessory for the Samsung laptops.  Apparently not sold as standalone for other computers, which pretty much makes them a throw-away item.  Samsung, in their infinite wisdom, don't offer any information other than you can buy them on their site for $29.95 (U.S.), which is pretty sorry considering they don't offer any support for this item.  You can search Driverguide.com or other similar sites to see if there are any drivers or pubs available.

What DMCA really means is "Destroy My Company, A$$h0le$"....
I'm no fan of DMCA or site takedowns in general - but let's be honest here, how much legitimate content does any of the usenet indexers or torrent sites have?
Actually, quite a lot.  I used bittorrent through GetRight, my downloader for downloading free apps, text or pdf files, and public domain music.  I have NEVER used bittorrent for illegal activities, so why should I be treated like a criminal?  And why should Hollywood dictate that we should all be "monitored" online?  We are all supposed to be innocent UNTIL found guilty, at least in the U.S. anyhow.

I tried it on my XP SP3 machine.  First my firewall said it wanted to access the com system (SVCHost).  After giving it permission and getting it all installed, absolutely nothing happened.  No Paste command to be found anywhere.  Uninstalled and re-installed, still nothing.

On another note, un-installing leaves the install folder and all the files intact.  Not much of an un-installer....

I still have one of those keyboard cleaner things, but instead of blowing it sucks.  And it sucks in more ways than one too, don't have the suction to pick up a hair off any smooth surface.  I just use the vacuum cleaner attachment with the fuzzy tip....

I'm not talking about those useless pen size vacuums. This is the one I have, except it's a newer model naturally. Basically they changed the buttons to look more "modern."  But the body and innards are the same. The bit with the arrow slides out. There's a small brush attachment that inserts.  It has quite a bit of suction so that only the first speed is required.  The brush prevents the vacuum from reaching the point of pulling the key tops off.

It would be perfect for cleaning the desktop area under the monitor, inside the case, docking stations etc. if they just provided a flexible attachment.  But with a 19" CRT the angles produced by the stand are too radical to negotiate. Much easier just to blow the dust off.

I just have to be careful with the vacuum.  My Dyson has some real powerful suction.  lol  I also keep canned air in stock.

Living Room / Electronic Communications Privacy Act
« Last post by Tinman57 on December 10, 2012, 08:45 PM »
Senate Committee Updates ECPA, Modifies Video Privacy Law
========================================================================

The US Senate Judiciary Committee has approved a bill that updates the
Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA) and modifies the Video
Privacy Protection Act (VPPA). Both laws, passed in the 1980s, have not
kept pace with advances in Internet technology. ECPA governs law
enforcement's ability to surveil communications and conduct wiretaps.
The VPPA prevents the disclosure of consumer video watching and renting
habits without consent.

Under the revisions to ECPA, law enforcement must obtain a search
warrant before accessing email or other private electronic
communications. Currently, no warrant is required for law enforcement
to obtain remotely stored email that is more than 180 days old.

The modifications to the VPPA allow users to provide "blanket consent"
to the disclosure of their video viewing records. Under current law,
users must consent to each individual disclosure. The new amendment
allows services such as Netflix to disclose viewer records with only a
one-time consent from the account holder. An amendment by Senator Diane
Feinstein (D-CA), adopted by the Committee, has limited this opt-in
consent to two years.

EPIC favors more extensive updates to ECPA. Specifically, EPIC has
argued that locational information should also be protected by a
warrant requirement. In addition, EPIC favors strong requirements for
prompt notification following any search.

In January 2012 EPIC Executive Director Marc Rotenberg testified before
the US Senate against weakening the consent provision of the VPPA,
which has been one of the strongest statutes protecting consumers'
personally identifiable information, "The Video Privacy Protection Act
is a model privacy law. It is technology neutral and focuses on the
collection and use of personal information," EPIC stated. "The debate
over online privacy and Netflix does not exist in a vacuum. It is
becoming increasingly clear that only privacy laws actually safeguard
the privacy rights of Internet users."

Hey guys,

I am sitting here, very bored, and wondering...How did you guys hear about DonationCoder.com?

Is there anything in particular that drew you to the site?  Perhaps the opportunity of getting a full Serial Key for some of mousers software?  Maybe it was the wide range of discussion available here.

I honestly want to know!

Also, if we have any Lurkersw who would be willing to register and let us know why you choose not to be a member here, that would be fun too! (I realise that if your registered, you would no longer be a lurkerw...but oh well! - Register, Reply, then delete your account if you really want to!!!) :D

Is there anything that would make your experience here at DonationCoder.com more fun?

Any comments you guys have, would be brilliant to hear!!!

Is it actually possible to make it more fun than it is now?   ;)

Yes... But Sticky is a loosely related (in a third cousin sort of way) synonym of the antonym of clean.

Nah. I've worked with glues that were very very clean and very very sticky.  :)

For me a paper towel with a bit of alcohol is good enough.  Some on a Q-Tip for the tops of the keys.  And that's only on occasion. Most of the time I just vac.

Which reminds me. They used to make a gizmo that amounted to a flashlight with a small blower on the end. Instead of canned air you could just use that. Too bad the construction was so flimsy.  They seemed to die in a couple of months. But it made me think of a battery-free solution that would last for years.  A junior bellows. Take the thing that hangs by the fireplace and reduce it to about 1/4 size.  Have it rigged out with a spring so you could work it with one hand.  Just squeeze the handles and a jet of air is produced.  Small enough to get in under the old CRT monitor. But nobody would produce them because they would last too long.
I still have one of those keyboard cleaner things, but instead of blowing it sucks.  And it sucks in more ways than one too, don't have the suction to pick up a hair off any smooth surface.  I just use the vacuum cleaner attachment with the fuzzy tip....

OK - if this is the way we are going let's ban science from schools and universities and lock up all current chemistry graduates as they probably know how to make a bomb and therefore could potentially aid terrorists.

If the Telegraph statement is accurate an appeal should be pretty automatic - in British law 'intent' has to be present to allow a judge to convict. Given that the judge stated there was no intent the prison sentence (in fact the conviction)  should be thrown out easily.

Personally I think the judge should be locked up because he done more to encourage terrorism in that statement and sentence than the plaintiff!
Yeah, here in "Merica" there's supposed to be the "intent" clause too.  But somehow our legal system has managed to tread all over that as well.   :(

Regarding the OP quoting the smartplanet article: I ran this by our agency psychiatrist, who is quite the expert in addiction treatment. He says this new drug's mechanism of action isn't really understood, and that it isn't ready for public consumption.

And this has stopped big pharma in the past how?  lol  Hell, two of the prescriptions I used to take have been pulled because one caused bladder cancer and the other one did something else bad.  Probably memory loss.  lol

Both good points.

Have a search to find out just how many billions in fines they have paid.

Oh, and did I mention that it just came out that Big Pharma was paying the East German government for unknowing/unwilling/uninformed human experimentation before the wall came down? There is NOTHING they won't do for profit.

I'll bet the fines they paid is nothing but a drop in the bucket compared to what they made off the drug to begin with, which really don't give them any incentive to stop this practice.  If Uncle Sam would figure out how much they made off the drug and fine them that much plus 10%, I'll bet they would stop pulling that little stunt real fast.  But as we already know, big pharma "donates" quite heavily to their political cronies, and the politicians don't want to cut off the hands that is lining their pockets with gold....

I've wondered if a "computer dinner" is different than a "TV dinner"? Am I so weird that I am the only person who has thought about this? Is a "laptop dinner" different than a "desktop dinner"? Would a "mainframe dinner" be a multi-course feast. A"supercomputer dinner" would be Molecular gastronomy.
I think it will all lead up to a.....

Ah yes, I remember now.  Anyone ordering/reading this book would be put on the FBI watch-list.  This happened sometime in the 90's I do believe.

Supposedly. Word was somebody claimed to have seen a list obtained from FBI files released under FOIA that listed people who were ordering the book - mostly from Loompanics Unlimited. Several people also claimed to have been targeted by the FBI for nothing other than ordering books from the same source.

I don't know if it was ever actually proven. It may well be an urban legend. Besides, the FBI had files on everybody back then. Often for the stupidest of reasons. Probably still do since "keep busy" is the watchword of most federal agencies who are looking to justify and increase their operating budgets.

Yep, it was quite a controversy, and still should be as far as I'm concerned.  But, like most bad things in the U.S., they just quietly go away as the sheeple don't seem to care....

Verizon patent application for TV snooping tech rejected
The U.S. Patent Office has delivered a 'non-final' rejection of a Verizon patent application for a controversial technology that would serve targeted ads to TV viewers based on what they're doing or saying in front of their sets.

We're all clueless about privacy, FTC is told at hearing
Web and mobile device users have little understanding about how much of their personal data is collected online, making it difficult to rely on free-market competition for solutions to privacy concerns, privacy experts told the U.S. Federal Trade Commission.

Privacy in America continues to erode online, report says
The Wall Street Journal has been looking at this issue, and in its latest report it says companies are increasingly connecting consumers real-life identities to where they hang out online.
