New games on Windows 98? I don't think that's a good idea. . . Your video card and OS might not be capable of the latest DirectX features required by these games.

Wow that's a lot of fun! I find it highly effective to press the spacebar somewhat quickly to launch myself and any nearby asteroids into oblivion. Kind of funny how it comes out of the end of the ship and explodes. It makes me feel like I'm farting my way to freedom.

Should be called: Captain Flatulence and the Asteroid Cream from Uranus!

Another bug you may not be aware of: When I get blown up I'm still able to lay mines in the time between when I explode and when my ship reappears in the center.

Oh carp I forgot to try D for drag/damping.

Living Room / Re: Tower Defence: Flash Game of the Day
« Last post by Deozaan on December 30, 2006, 09:14 AM »
I found a similar game to this, called Master of Defense. You can play online or download the Windows version here. The download is a trial version but I bought it because it's an awesome game!

P.S. I made it to level 81 in Tower Defense. The trick is to use only plant towers. Put them in line with the three horizontal paths on the right. You will have 3, 4 and 4 towers. You may lose some citizens in the early levels, but once you upgrade the towers sufficiently you will get very far easily.

I want to see a screen shot of where your towers are when you get to level 81. I did get to level 77 using only green towers (and one blue to catch the ones that got away from the greens early on) and I tried putting 3 on the top row, 4 on the middle and 4 on the bottom row... Didn't quite make it that far, though.

Accessibility Game Contest / Re: CYBERLAND SOUND ESCAPE! (Beta) #3 is Out!
« Last post by Deozaan on December 30, 2006, 09:07 AM »
I read the READ ME FIRST txt file but I didn't think it really explained what I was supposed to do very well. So I ran it and pressed some buttons on my numeric keypad and eventually figured out what to do. I think.

From what I understand of it, pressing any of the numpad numbers (besides 5 and 0) moves me in that direction. Pressing 5 will send out the sonar which tells me how far away I am from something else. I don't know if this is the gate to the next level or the UE who is trying to kill me. It's just a matter of playing hot/cold after that. Move one direction and see if the number is lower or higher. If it's higher, move the opposite way.Seems each time I got the number to 0 I died and got the BSOD. I don't know if that was the good ending or the bad ending.

The voice numbers were hard to understand most of the time. It seemed like the audio files didn't play out to completion so I got part of a number but not the whole thing. Also, sometimes it beeped at me a few times, which I concluded meant that I was up against some sort of wall and could not move in that direction anymore. I figured it was a box/rectangle, so once I was against that wall I never tried to move in that direction again.

I also never tried pressing the numpad 0. I hope that wasn't supposed to do anything to help me.

Okay so I got the fake blue screen with a box that pops up and says it is a fake blue screen, but on top of that another box pops up that says
CSEVB Run-Time Error '401': Can't show non-modal form when modal form is displayed.

When I click okay on that it then allows me to click okay on the fake blue screen pop up box, which then plays a digital death sound, then the program closes and asks me to send an error report.

So there seems to be a real problem besides the fake blue screen.

The game has a nasty bug whereby a tower sometimes randomly disappears when you build a new one. Makes the game very frustrating.

It seems to do that to me only when I build too close to another tower and possibly accidentally overlapping another tower. But it is very frustrating if you've spent hundreds on upgrading that tower and it disappears. And it would be nice if the upgrade stats for the Green towers showed what they really are.

My first time I got a decent 57. The highest I got after a few tries was 77. The lowest I got was 8, and I didn't lose on purpose.

I don't know about each webpage, but I saw a firefox extension once that tracked how long you spent per website, I think. I don't remember any info about it. I installed it on a whim one day and then shortly after did a fresh OS install.

Found it: It's called Usage Counter. But it doesn't track per website. Just seems to track how long Firefox has been open. . .

Pure and simple: Windows Sound Recorder.

Go into advanced settings of your volume control and change the recording source from Microphone to Synth or something like that. Whatever noise your speakers make will be recorded, so be sure to turn off any IM or other apps that might beep at you.

That's how I've done it for about 5 years now.

Living Room / Re: Learn How to create No-CD Cracks.
« Last post by Deozaan on December 23, 2006, 02:54 AM »
I dunno if this topic should be discussed any more, though, since most people's use for no-cd patches is to pirate games, not to avoid scratches or inconvenience.

I have 1TB of HDD space so I always try making a disc image of every game I own (and some programs), but when the image doesn't work I look for a no-cd/dvd.

I agree that such information isn't really appropriate for this site, and most no-disc patches are probably used for pirating, but I can attest to the fact that some people (like myself) do everything we can to avoid having 50 discs somewhere nearby to swap in and out.

My desk is already messy enough as it is. I don't want all those jewel cases lying around and I'm too anal (in this respect) to throw away the case and pamphlet, etc., and put them all in an organizer they will get lost in or stolen.
